FEAD is the voice of Europe's private resource and waste management industry. We promote the circular economy.
About us
FEAD is the voice of Europe's private waste and resource management industry across Europe. FEAD’s members are national waste management associations covering 16 Member States, Norway and the UK. Our companies play a key role in the transition to a circular economy by producing resources which can be re-injected in the economy and by supplying energy. They add value through innovative and cost-efficient collection, sorting, and recycling of secondary raw materials. In doing so, they play a key role in achieving the best economic and environmental outcomes. FEAD members represent about 3,000 companies with activities in all forms of waste management. These companies employ over 320,000 people who operate around 2,400 recycling and sorting centres, 1,100 composting sites, 260 waste-to-energy plants and 900 controlled landfills. Our companies have an approximate 60% share in the household waste market and handle more than 75% of industrial and commercial waste in Europe. Their combined annual turnover is approximately € 75 billion. FEAD brochures can be downloaded at : https://fead.be/who-we-are

FEAD congratulates Ursula von der Leyen on her re-election as President of the European Commission! 🎉 Yesterday, she published the political guidelines for the next mandate of the European Commission. 📍In her guidelines, she states: 'Working to decarbonise our economy will be part of our continued shift to a more sustainable pattern of production and consumption, retaining the value of resources in our economy for longer. This will be the purpose of a new Circular Economy Act, helping to create market demand for secondary materials and a single market for waste, notably in relation to critical raw materials. We will put forward a new chemicals industry package, aiming to simplify REACH and provide clarity on 'forever chemicals', or PFAS.' Read the full guidelines here 👇📖

💡 Did you know? Latvia plans to build a modern waste-to-energy plant that will produce 530 gigawatt hours of energy from 143,000 tons of waste that cannot be used elsewhere. 🌱 Located in an industrial area on the outskirts of Riga, this plant will significantly reduce the volume of waste deposited in landfills. It's a big step towards meeting the EU Landfill Directive target of reducing household waste in landfills to 10% by 2035. 🚯📉 Find more information on this innovative plant in LASUA's article in the third volume of FEAD's Digital Magazine. 📖 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gv9pkMaX #Wte #CircularEconomy #FEADMagazine #Latvia
