⚠ 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲. However, a balance must be found that avoids stringent rules increasing costs for vendors and consumers and stifling innovative solutions in the energy system. In our policy manifesto, we highlight the following actions to ensure a balanced approach that supports growth: ➡ As digital hardware and software products are a main avenue for potential cyberattacks, the EU should apply the security by design principle and encourage DSOs to ensure that smart meter suppliers improve the security of products with digital elements from the design stage. This approach was recently supported by the Council - see here: https://lnkd.in/dKuTAja4 ➡Cybersecurity legislation such as the Cyber Resilience Act is essential to avoid further fragmentation of security requirements and certification. To avoid overlapping regulations and requirements, the Radio Equipment Directive Delegated Act and other cybersecurity requirements should cease effect when the Cyber Resilience Act comes into force. ➡Products with digital elements offered on the European market need to undergo a formal assessment on cybersecurity capabilities based on European schemes.     📑 Download our manifesto 👉 https://lnkd.in/e52vzVz5 #cybersecurity #energy #innovation #data #privacy #smartmeter

💡 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲. 🚨 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥-𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲. Despite this, European companies are increasingly facing unfair competition from third country producers in the internal market. ⚠ Subsidies granted by non-EU governments are having a negative impact on competition as they can afford to compete with significantly lower prices against European companies that are subject to EU state aid control.  To ensure a level-playing field for critical industries providing essential services we need: 1️⃣ A level-playing field and fair competition that does not impact innovative, European companies or put cybersecurity at risk in critical infrastructures 2️⃣ All technology suppliers to comply with the highest level of European standards including human rights and environmental protection 4️⃣ To ensure foreign subsidies do not enable unfair advantages by submitting bids below market or product cost 5️⃣ To strengthen the importance of non-price criteria such as sustainability, cybersecurity and social accountability in the evaluation of tenders in critical energy infrastructure 6️⃣ A revision of the Regulation on Foreign Subsidies to ensure that the procedure of prior notification of foreign financial contributions to critical infrastructure, without regard to the threshold To find out more, download our manifesto 👉 https://lnkd.in/e52vzVz5 #innovation #technology #energy #sustainability #faircompetition
