This Human Rights Month, let's bring attention to trailblazers in the realm of human rights whose names are not household but whose work is indispensable. Among them is Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera, who has been at the forefront of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Uganda. Another unsung hero is Rebeca Gyumi, a Tanzanian activist who successfully challenged her country's child marriage laws. Lastly, we honor Valdemar de Oliveira, a Brazilian human rights lawyer fighting against racial inequality and social injustice. Join us in celebrating these and other dedicated advocates who make the world a better place. #HumanRightsMonth

December marks Human Rights Month, a period to not only celebrate the strides we've made in upholding fundamental rights and freedoms but also to scrutinize the gaps that remain in achieving universal human dignity. As we approach 2024, it's an opportune time to reassess our individual and collective responsibilities in furthering these essential principles. Let us honor the human rights champions who have laid down the groundwork and recommit ourselves to the ongoing efforts required to make equality and justice a global reality. #HumanRightsMonth

Native American Heritage Month Action Steps! We spent this month in the pride and celebration aspect, but let us remember the awareness component. This takes ACTION! Look to see what resources you currently have at reach or that are within reach to begin creating an inclusive environment for all and improving the accessibility in your organization. Let's not forget some alarming realities: 1️⃣ Native Americans have the highest rate of diabetes among all U.S. racial and ethnic groups. 2️⃣ They also face disproportionately high rates of unemployment. 3️⃣ Native women are 2.5 times more likely to experience violent crimes than the general population. Here are a few steps to begin: Educate yourself and others about these issues. Support Native-owned businesses to contribute to economic growth. Advocate for policy changes that address these disparities. Let’s carry the spirit of awareness and action into the months ahead. Your efforts can create lasting impact." What other actions do you recommend? #Nativeamericanheritagemonth #DEI #Celebrate #accessibility #takeaction

"'We are all one child spinning through Mother Sky.” - Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. As we approach the close of #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth, let’s take these words to heart. In a time where division can seem rampant, Tecumseh's wisdom serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to Mother Earth and to one another." #SharedHumanity #nativeheritagemonth2023 #ReflectAndGrow #shawneechieftecumseh #InspirationalQuotes #deiandyouconsulting

Artists like Jaune Quick-to-See Smith bring new perspectives to contemporary art, while musicians like Buffy Sainte-Marie have earned both Academy and Polaris Awards. In literature, Sherman Alexie's narratives offer powerful insights into modern Native American life, and in filmmaking, Sterlin Harjo captures the spirit and challenges of indigenous communities. This month, we urge you to explore the array of creative voices that deepen our appreciation for Native cultures. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

This #GlobalDiversityMonth, we delve deeper into the remarkable facts that underscore our global community's diversity. Did you know that there are over 7,000 languages spoken worldwide, with Papua New Guinea home to over 800 of them? Or that there are 195 countries, each harboring its unique culture and history? As we pause to appreciate this richness, we foster a deeper understanding and respect for our shared humanity. This month, let's commit to learning and embracing the diversity that unites us as a global family. #SharedHumanity #WorldFacts

We have to return to the basics, and that's water. Air, water, the source of all life. That’s where our focus should be. Not on politics, but on breath, on air, on life." This quote reflects Harjo's deep connection to nature and her understanding of the fundamental necessities for life, rooted in respect for the environment and the elemental forces that sustain all living beings. It aligns well with her advocacy work for Native American rights and her broader vision for a society that respects and nurtures the natural world. Last week, we paid tribute to the unforgettable legacies of icons like Sacagawea and Wilma Mankiller. This week, in continuation of our recognition series this National American Indian Heritage Month, we wish to spotlight another remarkable trailblazer, Suzan Shown Harjo. A Cheyenne and Hodulgee Muscogee activist, Harjo has been a pillar in the advocacy for Native American rights. Her tireless efforts have led to the recovery of over a million acres of tribal land, showcasing an unmatched dedication to her community. Join us in honoring Suzan Shown Harjo, a true beacon of perseverance and vision, and delve deeper into the rich tapestry of heroism and resilience present in the Native American community. #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth
