Kudos to the entire team for their outstanding achievement! #Research #Innovation #CS2 #CleanAviation
📢 [#CleanSky2 Project News]: On behalf of Clean Aviation, I am thrilled to have participated in what I can proudly say is an excellent example of European #Innovation and #Collaboration—the Roll-out Celebration of the MultiFunctional Fuselage Demonstrator (#MFFD) in Hamburg, #Germany. 🇩🇪 Among the MFFD’s achievements, I would highlight the following: 🚀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: We have produced an 8-meter thermoplastic fuselage barrel, setting a new standard in aerospace technology. 🌿 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Reduced #Fuselage weight by 1 tonne, boosting fuel efficiency and supporting a cleaner #AviationIndustry. Plus, our materials are more #Recyclable. 🔧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭: Projected to increase the fuselage build rate to 70-100 per month, up from the current 60 per month, to meet the growing global demand for #AirTravel. 💡 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: With €68 million from the European Commission, we have developed over 40 #Technologies and secured 11 #Patents, strengthening Europe’s leadership in aerospace innovation. 🤝 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: The MFFD project is a prime example of European collaboration, involving 11 Members & Core Partners, all aligned with Airbus and partner R&T strategies. 💪 𝐖𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: Over 110 dissemination items and key contributions to major conferences ensure our innovations benefit the entire #AerospaceCommunity. This project is a flagship demonstrator of the #CleanSky2 Programme, showcasing our commitment to #Sustainable and #Efficient aviation. 🌍✈️ 🤝 Thanks to #CTO Sabine Klauke for this celebration, which from my point of view was a great success with the participation of key stakeholders of the MFFD project, and most importantly, all the teams that were involved and worked hard during all these years to make this MFFD project happen and a true success — Sabine Klauke, Sven Herrmann, York Roth, and Ralf Herrmann from Airbus; Jens Standfuss from Fraunhofer IWS and Simon Kothe from Fraunhofer IFAM; Roland Gerhards from ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research; Joost Koopman from GKN Aerospace; Lars Larsen, Manuel Endrass, and Antje Stamm, MSc. from DLR Institute of Structures and Design; Jakob Ring from Saab; and Miguel Angel Castillo, PhD from Aernnova Aerospace. 👏 🤝 Thanks to Maria Calvo Blanco and Jimmy Tchen, my colleagues at Clean Aviation, for their continuous support in this great success. 👏 At Clean Aviation, alongside our members, we remain fully committed to continuously developing disruptive technologies that are crucial to support the #EU in achieving #NetZero by 2050. 🌍💪 #Sustainability #MFFD #CleanSky2

📢 Clean Aviation had the pleasure of participating in the webinar “The Net-Zero Aeronautical Hub of Jerez,” organised by the Junta de Andalucía in collaboration with the ANDALUCÍA AEROSPACE Cluster Empresarial. Our colleagues, Bruno Mastantuono (Head of Governance Unit) and Daniele Violato (Head of Synergies), presented Clean Aviation’s programme and discussed our actions on synergies with aeronautic regions. The event also featured a technical presentation by Antonio Hernandez from Airbus Defence and Space, highlighting Airbus' engagement in Clean Aviation. 🚨 The Andalusia region emphasised their regional call for expressions of interest, 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒆 30, for economic incentives aimed at R&I, industrial projects, and infrastructures for the Aeronautical Hub “Net Zero” of Jerez. 💡 This initiative is supported by the #JustTransitionFund in synergy with Clean Aviation. Aerospace is a significant sector in Andalusia, contributing over 12% of the regional GDP and playing a crucial role in regional, national, and European competitiveness. 💰 The Regional Government (#JuntadeAndalucia) has indicated an allocation of EUR 35 million from the ERDF to collaborate with Clean Aviation on sustainable aviation projects. 🔑 This is a significant milestone for us and a pivotal opportunity for the regional cluster and stakeholders to align with Clean Aviation’s technical roadmap, contributing to the advancement of sustainable aviation. Moreover, it exemplifies how synergies between #HorizonEurope, the ERDF, and the Just Transition Fund can effectively support innovation, skills, and jobs for net-zero aviation at the regional level. 🔗 If your organisation wishes to participate, you can find relevant details about the call for expressions of interest here: https://lnkd.in/dg68WTJH

🚀Don't miss out on the latest advancements from the CONCERTO Project! This pioneering initiative is focused on streamlining the certification process for new aviation technologies, ensuring improved safety while significantly reducing time to market and certification costs. 📊 Key Highlights: Certification Readiness Level (CRL) Scale: Developed in close collaboration with EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, the CRL scale is specifically tailored to the aviation industry. It consists of nine levels that represent distinct stages in the certification process, similar to the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale. 👉 Impact and Recognition: The CRL scale has been recently published and introduced by EASA within their innovation services, garnering significant attention across the aviation community. 👉According to Jaime Perez de Diego, Project Officer of CONCERTO, "The development of the CRL scale and its introduction by EASA is a remarkable achievement. It provides certification applicants a standardized process on their way towards certifying disruptive technologies." 👉Application of CRL Scale: The CRL scale is already being applied to three selected proofs of concept within the project: Active Wing, Hydrogen Storage, and High Voltage Distribution System. Stay tuned for more updates! https://lnkd.in/dzzDFhQw #AviationInnovation #Certification #DisruptiveTechnologies #CRL #AeronauticalScience
