Usually I'm in the audience asking people on stage the questions, so it was fun to have a few questions thrown my way at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)'s Caribbean Week in New York last month. It was a great opportunity to discuss with travel advisors and tourism delegates the importance of working together with trade media.

CHTA had the exciting opportunity to attend Caribbean Week in New York City, hosted by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The event featured vibrant displays of Caribbean culture, insightful discussions led by industry leaders, and a bustling media marketplace uniting stakeholders and media representatives. We were honored to represent the private sector at this prestigious event, fostering connections with Caribbean ministers, directors of tourism, public sector representatives, and industry stakeholders, while offering insightful thought leadership. By aligning strategic goals and resources, we can address challenges like sustainability, infrastructure investment, and market competitiveness. Together, we can build a resilient ecosystem that supports economic growth, job creation, sustainable development, and maintains the Caribbean's status as a premier tourism destination worldwide! 📸 Pictured (left to right): Bill Clegg, 5th Vice President and Regional Director of Development at BWH Hotels; Kashmie Ali, Vice President of Brand Operations, Sales, and Marketing at Sailrock South Caicos and Sailrock Living, Turks and Caicos, BWI; Stacy Cox, CEO of the Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association; Nicola Madden-Greig, OD, CHTA President and Group Director of Marketing & Sales at Courtleigh Hotel & Suites; Vanessa Ledesma, CHTA Acting CEO and Director General. #CaribbeanTourism #PublicPrivatePartnership #CWNY2024 #CTO24

The CTO, represented by Sustainable Tourism Specialist Amanda Charles, is actively participating in the Rapid Needs Assessment Team coordinated by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). With the support of participating states and regional and international partners, the team is assisting with response and recovery efforts through the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM), and compiling a report to present to the international donor community. This photo collage highlights some members of the team whose work includes assessing Carriacou, Petite Martinique, and northern mainland Grenada.
