AVMA journals reprints and permissions

AVMA Reprints and Permissions

Non-open access articles published in the print and online versions of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association® are covered by copyright, in accordance with the copyright law of the United States and the copyright conventions incorporated in various international treaties, including the Berne Convention. Non-open access articles from the print and online versions of the JAVMA may not be reproduced, distributed, displayed, republished, or transmitted in any form or by any means without the prior written permission of the American Veterinary Medical Association or its authorized agent.

Open access

AJVR converted to a fully open access journal in June 2022 to better serve the interests of researchers and funders. Open access means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or the user’s institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other purpose permitted under the applicable License, without asking for prior permission from the publisher or the author. Under this model, authors or their research funders or institutions pay an article processing charge (APC) in order to make the article immediately free to access, download, and share anywhere in the world. Archival material (ie, pre-June 2022) is freely available. All rights are reserved in archival material.

Material published in the online only version of American Journal of Veterinary Research® as well as material published open access in JAVMA using the CC BY-NC license https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/  may be shared according to the license with appropriate credit.

Individuals who obtain reprints of non-open access articles must agree to distribute such reprints without any alterations, additions, deletions, overprinting, highlighting, company identification, promotional messages, or promotional attachments. Reprints of articles published in the JAVMA and AJVR cannot be resold.
