Summertime is for streaming, and if you've got a lot of spare time, Hulu is bringing you a whole ton of stuff in July. In addition to popular shows returning like The Bachelorette and Futurama, the service has a ton of foreign shows making their first appearance, as well as cool-looking movies, true crime documentaries, and more. Land Of Tanabata (July 4)
A young man who discovers his mysterious power is a time-tested trope, but new manga adaptation Land of Tanabata twists it in a funky way. Yoji Minamimaru is a seemingly normal college student who wakes up one day and finds that he can create small holes in any surface mentally. While it first seems useless and annoying, Yoji's power might prove to be the key to preventing a world-threatening crisis. There's already some buzz around this one.
Sasha Reid and the Midnight Order (July 10)
There are a few new true crime documentary series on Hulu this month, but Sasha Reid and the Midnight Order looks the most worthwhile. The titular Dr. Reid is the organizer of a group of young women who take their unique talents and use them to delve into cold cases, unsolved murders, and dangerous situations in order to find the truth and bring peace to the victims.
The Animal Kingdom (July 11)
Ambitious French fantasy flick The Animal Kingdom was a popular screener at Cannes this year, with many critics praising director Thomas Cailley's bizarre vision. Set in a near future where some people find themselves mutating into human-animal hybrids, the story follows a man named François as his wife begins to change and he sets out to find a way to bring her back. Great visual effects coupled with a lot to think about make this a good get for Hulu.
