Travelers looking to catch up on Bridgerton or House of the Dragon from their hotel rooms will soon have more options at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, which will roll out support for Google Cast on LG smart hotel TVs later this year.

With this upgrade, guests will scan a QR code on the TV to establish a Cast connection and wirelessly stream videos, music, and more from their Android or iOS devices. Just look for the familiar Cast icon inside supported streaming apps to send the content to the hotel TV.

Hyatt is working with SONIFI, which provides tech solutions for hotels, to add Google Cast support to 2024 LG Pro:Centric smart hotel TVs later this year via a software update. It will be compatible with devices running Android 6 or later and iOS 14 or later.

As Michael Kosla, SVP of LG Business Solutions USA, notes, "there is no additional equipment to buy, configure, and maintain, no risk of device theft, and it frees up an HDMI port.”

"Google Cast capabilities built into LG hotel TVs will give hotel operators the best integrated solution that reduces costs and allows guests to pick up where they left off in their personal streaming services," says Tiger Lan, Google’s senior director of engineering for multi-device experiences.

Last month, Apple rolled out AirPlay support at 60 IHG Hotels & Resorts. Hotels currently supporting the feature include Holiday Inn, Avid Hotels, and Candlewood Suites in 22 states.
