Apple's Next-Generation Apple Watch May Have a Bigger Screen

Unfortunately, it won't have all the health feature Apple wants to include.

The next version of the Apple Watch might feature more screen real estate.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch Series 10 will have larger screens than previous versions, putting them more on par with the size of the Apple Watch Ultra. Gurman also expects the updated version of the watch to be thinner and include new chips to improve performance and potentially lay the groundwork for AI additions.

In his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman said Apple has also been working on more advanced health features for the watch; however, those likely won’t all be ready before the Series 10 is released.

Apple is facing issues with the development of tools to measure high blood pressure and detect sleep apnea. Gurman notes that the sleep apnea feature would require Apple to be able to access the user’s blood oxygen saturation, something it can’t do right now thanks to it ongoing patent dispute with Masimo.

Apple also hopes to ultimately add glucose monitoring to the Apple Watch; however that feature is also still in development.

In addition to a thinner Apple Watch with a larger screen, Gurman says he expects Apple to launch a new Apple Watch SE this year with a plastic body rather than an aluminum one, allowing Apple to make the device more affordable.

Next year will mark the Apple Watch's 10th anniversary.
