Today (Friday April 1), iRobot released the latest in their line of Roomba robot vacuum cleaners, the Roomba j7 (RRP A1,299) and j7+ (RRP A$1,799) in Australia and New Zealand. The primary difference between the j7 and the j7+ being the inclusion of the automatic charging station and dust tray.

The J series introduces a heap of eagerly awaited features, and is a much needed upgrade to the existing iRobot Roomba lineup. Key new features include:
- Identifies obstacles and avoids hazards with PrevisionVision Navigation
The j series Roomba models are designed to identify and avoid obstacles like pet mess and charging cables. Combining this with Imprint Smart Mapping, the j series learns your home floor plan and gives you control of which rooms are cleaned and when. - Keeps you in the loop and follows your instructions with iRobot Genius
The more you use the j series, the better it can clean. Roomba j series interactively learns your preferences and adapts to keep your home cleaner. When Roomba identifies an obstacle or hazard, it will send a photo to the iRobot Home App where you can then instruct Roomba whether to clean or avoid. - Personalised cleaning routines
Your cleaning needs are taken care of - even the ones you don’t know about yet. Roomba j series learns how you like to clean and gives you personalised suggestions, such as cleaning more often during pet shedding or allergy season. Roomba will even ask if you’d like to clean while you’re away so you return to a fresh home. - Long term dirt and dust storage in the j7+
