After months of being in beta, Samsung's One UI 6 is getting official (sort of).

The company announced key new features coming to a variety of Samsung phones, but the release date is still listed as the vague "available soon." One UI 6 is Samsung's customized skin that runs atop Android and provides productivity tools and interoperability with other Samsung devices. In this case, the focus is on new camera features that take advantage of AI.

First up is the Samsung Galaxy Enhance-X app, which is like a Swiss army knife of image tools. When taking photographs of stars, this app can use AI to figure out which constellations and galaxies are in your pictures. To clear up photos, the Enhance-X app can also remove blurriness caused by fingerprints on the lens. Regular videos can be transformed into slow-motion videos because Enhance-X can create new frames to simulate that slow, smooth look. Lastly, Enhance-X can take advantage of AI to pick the best photos and video clips to share with your friends.

This app will come to the Galaxy S20 and up, Note 20 series, A53, A54, and all Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold phones.

Other image-editing tools coming with One UI 6 include AI Image clipping, which lets you select a subject in a photo and turn it into a sticker that can be added to things like videos or photos.

AI will also be employed with the new Document Scan feature, where AI will detect if you've taken a picture of a document and automatically show you the Auto Scan edit screen that lets you adjust the image for clarity. This feature also recognizes fingers in a photo and can remove them from the final scan.

For the Galaxy S23 Ultra only, a High Resolution Quick Setting will let you quickly capture images at full 200MP resolution as long as you're in the Photo or Pro Mode in the camera app.

For capturing just the right image, Samsung has new Camera Widgets that give you quick access to preset customized camera modes. As an example, you could have a widget that launches the camera directly into the Portrait mode.

The Photo Editor in the Camera app is getting a bit of a redesign with a reorganization of features. Straighten and Perspective can now be found in the Transform menu. New Undo and Redo buttons are also accessible in the editor so you can quickly compare your edit to the previous state. It looks a bit more cohesive than the previous image editor since all the tools are organized in a singular taskbar-like orientation.

To check for updates on your Samsung phone, head to Settings > Software Update and tap Download and Install to check if One UI 6 is ready for installation.
