AT&T is once again trying to get legacy unlimited plan customers to make the switch to one of its newer “unlimited” data plans.
Starting in August, AT&T customers who are on one of AT&T’s retired unlimited plans will see an increase of $10 on accounts with a single line of service and $20 on accounts with multiple lines.
AT&T notes on its website that the $20 fee is for the entire account, not a $20 increase per line of service.
That additional charge is going to come with a few improvements to the plan. Legacy unlimited plans will be getting added high-speed data and hotspot data on their accounts.
AT&T Unlimited Choice, Choice II, Choice Enhanced, Unlimited &More, and Unlimited Value plans will now include 75GB of high-speed data and 30GB of hotspot data, and AT&T Unlimited Plus, Plus Enhanced, Unlimited &More Premium, and AT&T Unlimited (with TV) plans will now include 100GB of high-speed data and 60GB of hotspot data. Connected Car plans will keep their existing high-speed data benefits and will not get hotspot data.
On its website announcing the change, AT&T also lists its current unlimited plans, in case you want to make the switch.
If the price increase makes you want to ditch AT&T entirely, the company also lists an 800 number you can call to discuss your options.
If you have an installment agreement on one of your devices and want to leave AT&T you’ll have to pay off the remaining installments to keep the device or return the device by Oct. 31, 2024, to get your installment balance waived.
AT&T’s current unlimited plans range in price from $65.99 to $85.99 per month for a single line.
