Samsung is set to announced the Galaxy S24 series of devices today at its Jan. 17 Unpacked event, which is set for 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. But we’ve already learned quite a bit about what we can expect from the handsets thanks to numerous leaks.

Renders and information shared by well-known leaker Evan Blass (since taken down by a copyright claim) and Windows Report suggest the S24 Ultra will come in four different colors: Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Violet, and Titanium Yellow. Why titanium? Another famous smartphone maker (ahem, Apple) switched its top-of-the-line devices to titanium last year. The colors are similar to what the company offered in the S23 line; however, the green S23 handset is being replaced by the brighter yellow. The frame of the S24 Ultra will be made out of titanium, while the other handsets in the line will likely be made of Samsung's Armour Aluminum.

As for the base and the Plus models of the S24, they are expected to come in Onyx Black, Marble Grey, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow.

The Ultra handset is expected to have a 6.8-inch QHD+ display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 23-megapixel forward-facing camera, and 12-megapixel ultra-wide, 200-megapixel wide, and 10- and 50-megapixel zoom lenses on the rear. Storage-wise, you’ll be able to select between 1TB, 512GB, and 256GB models, and the device will have a 5,000mAh battery. Other than the processor, these specs are largely the same as the S23 Ultra.

The standard S24 is rumored to feature a more petite 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x FHD+ display, while the S24+ will have a 6.7-inch QHD+ display. Both the S24 and the S24+ should see a 50MP main camera that supports up to 8K video capture, as well as a 30x zoom and 2x and 3x telephoto lens, leaving the best cameras for the Ultra series as we've seen in the past.

All three devices are likely to have IP68 water resistance as well as fast charging, though how fast may vary by model.

The big draw to the phones will be their new AI capabilities, The S24 family is expected to translate languages within messaging apps in real-time, with support for more than 12 languages. The Ultra is also expected to use AI to help enhance the photos you take as well as make web searches more helpful. Google's Pixel 8 phones both have extensive AI-based photo editing powers.

Blass's now hidden tweets suggested the phones will have Samsung’s AI model called “Gauss” integrated into the devices to accomplish those tasks. Both the S24 and S24+ will also support Samsung’s AI features, with the main differences between the models found under the hood.

Of course, most of what we've heard thus far is just rumor. Samsung execs have confirmed just one new feature that mirrors the iPhone: satellite connectivity. That would allow you to reach emergency services if you found yourself stranded without typical cell phone service.

Samsung has also been teasing AI live translations for phone calls, breaking the language barrier in real-time. It didn't specifically call out the S24 series for this new feature, but given the timing, we're expecting to see it.

Stay tuned for all the news on Jan. 17. Unpacked kicks off from San Jose at 10 a.m. PT. Watch live in the video above.
