GeForce NOW Cloud Gaming Coming To Australia This Year

Register for the service today for your chance to become a beta tester.

Australian gamers will soon have access to NVIDIA’s highly-anticipated cloud-based game streaming service, GeForce NOW.

The service will be provided by Perth-based ISP Pentanet, who has been expanding its implementation of next-generation wireless technology in the lead-up to GeForce NOW’s launch Down Under.

GeForce NOW transforms nearly any device into a high-end gaming PC using cloud technology. It allows users to instantly play PC games across devices without the need for expensive hardware systems. The service has been a hit overseas, and already has a growing waitlist in Australia. See the list of games on GeForce NOW here.

Pentanet is encouraging gamers to register their interest in GeForce NOW, which will help the company make decisions on where to place future servers. Registering will also put you in the running to become an Aussie beta tester of the service.

“The sooner gamers register on our website, the sooner our infrastructure could find its way to their city,” says Pentanet founder and MD Stephen Cornish. He also says the company will determine which networks in Australia have the capability to deliver the gaming technology to households, and which network types don’t yet “cut the mustard”.

“I think most people in Australia know by now that not all home internet was created equal. We’re still willing to give other networks a go, but we won’t shy from the challenge of building our own solution we know to work, like we did for Perth.”

Entirely independent of the National Broadband Network (NBN) and dramatically outperforming it, Pentanet’s fixed wireless network has transformed internet connectivity in Perth, which in 2019 was reported as having the second slowest internet speeds of all Australian capital cities.

With an IPO on the ASX next Friday, expansion of Pentanet’s network technology isn’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.
