About The Role
The purpose of this role is to provide and support the Design of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget. Provide output which satisfies the standards of Austal, the client and regulatory authorities.
Key Objectives & Responsibilities Include
Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.
Work deadlines are met, and construction deliverables are not compromised or missed.
Effectively and efficiently communicate through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.
Consistently exhibits a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement and actively seeks alternate methods of performing tasks.
Selection and requisitions for hull, fire, and safety equipment.
Preparation of design and drawings including calculations and reports.
Vessels design in accordance with technical requirements (Specification, contract, and relevant rules).
Design of vessel local and global structure, equipment foundations, hydrostatic and stability calculations, powering, and resistance calculations.
Austal processes for safety, quality, budget, and risk mitigation are followed and risk mitigation.
Design support for production, commissioning, and delivery.
Maintain an efficient filing system and ensure that all work is stored in appropriate locations.
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes
Hold a Construction safety induction (white card).
Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) or equivalent.
Advanced AutoCAD Skills.
A solid understanding of Production methods and the practical application of design.
Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
