About The Role

The purpose of this role is to provide and support the Design of a vessel from concept through to delivery, on time and on budget. Provide output which satisfies the standards of Austal, the client and regulatory authorities.

Key Objectives & Responsibilities Include

  • Produces accurate information and documentation, which meets all procedural and auditable requirements.
  • Work deadlines are met, and construction deliverables are not compromised or missed.
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate through drawings, verbal, and written means to all necessary parties.
  • Consistently exhibits a proactive attitude toward innovation and improvement and actively seeks alternate methods of performing tasks.
  • Selection and requisitions for hull, fire, and safety equipment.
  • Preparation of design and drawings including calculations and reports.
  • Vessels design in accordance with technical requirements (Specification, contract, and relevant rules).
  • Design of vessel local and global structure, equipment foundations, hydrostatic and stability calculations, powering, and resistance calculations.
  • Austal processes for safety, quality, budget, and risk mitigation are followed and risk mitigation.
  • Design support for production, commissioning, and delivery.
  • Maintain an efficient filing system and ensure that all work is stored in appropriate locations.



Required Skills / Experience / Attributes

  • Hold a Construction safety induction (white card).
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Naval Architecture) or equivalent.
  • Advanced AutoCAD Skills.
  • A solid understanding of Production methods and the practical application of design.
  • Knowledge of regulatory body Rules and Regulations requirements.
