NDIS POWER DYNAMICS NDIA: The Treasury Titans Control Over Funds: NDIA’s control over the distribution of #NDIS funds is like putting a fox in charge of the henhouse. Influence participant outcomes & scheme's sustainability, all while looking out for the bottom line. Do you trust them to prioritize anything other than saving a buck? NDIS Commission: Rulebook Tyrants Regulatory Authority: #Commission has power to make or break service providers. They say, "Jump," & providers ask, "How high?" But are they the watchdogs we need or just another layer of bureaucracy pretending to care? DSS: Policy Puppeteers Policy & Funding Control: DSS holds the puppet strings of policy & funding, shaping NDIS's direction. High-level decisions from people who might never have seen a participant up close – what could go wrong? Conflicts NDIA: Bean Counters vs. Human #Needs Financial vs. Participant Needs: Imagine an agency more obsessed with keeping the ledger balanced than keeping people alive. Will they cut corners to save a dime, even if it costs participants dearly? NDIS Commission: Judge, Jury & Executioner Provider Interests vs. Participant Protection: The Commission's job is to protect participants, but what happens when they're too chummy with providers? Bias in investigations could turn justice into a joke. DSS: Budget Hawks vs. Social Advocates Budget Constraints vs. Service Provision: DSS dances on a tightrope between budget constraints & need to provide services. When politics get involved, who do you think gets the short end of the stick? Ambiguities NDIA: Decision-Making in a Black Box Transparency: Trying to understand NDIA’s decision-making process is like deciphering hieroglyphics. Participants are left in the dark, questioning if there's any rhyme or reason behind their funding & plan decisions. NDIS Commission: Rule Roulette Consistency: The Commission's enforcement of rules can feel like a game of roulette. Will they be lenient or strict today? Even they might not know until the wheel stops spinning. DSS: Policy Ping-Pong Federal & state policies often clash like rival siblings. This coordination, or lack thereof, leads to policy gaps that participants fall through, leaving them wondering if anyone up top actually knows what's going on. Hidden Agendas NDIA: The Surveillance State Centralization & Surveillance: NDIA's push for central control & data collection, privacy concerns rise. Are they genuinely interested in participant welfare or just playing Big Brother with a benevolent mask? NDIS Commission: Provider Pawns Influence of Providers: When the Commission starts bending to the will of powerful providers, trust flies out the window. Are they there to regulate or just to make it look good on paper? DSS: The Political Puppet Show Political Influence: DSS's decisions often reflect political strategies rather than participant needs. Is it about improving disability services, or just scoring political points and votes?

The latest developments in AI have flooded us with interesting new tools. We didn't see them coming. We need to play catch up to feel confident about when and how to use them. This mornings ABC news article about AI in the workplace has some good practical tips... "The number one golden rule in working with AI is that the human makes the decision." "The human is responsible for the factual accuracy of whatever is being produced. And the human is also responsible for any ethical or biased considerations that may come out of the AI's output," he says. "It's important to be transparent about the use of AI and recordings in meetings," he says. https://lnkd.in/g28NQhzx

Headline: When Aussie Telcos Missed the Memo on Mobile Tech (and It Cost Them Trillions) 💰🤣 Throwback to 2007, the year the iPhone dropped and my mates and I pulled off a cheeky IP heist that made Scrooge McDuck jealous. We swooped in during the US/Euro recession and nabbed some sweet 3G/4G patents from Sagem. 🤑 Suddenly, we were raking in 1/6th of 18% of every handset $$ sold globally – talk about passive income! 😉 But here's the kicker: we slyly licensed our goodies to Apple, Microsoft, and Google, giving them a taste of the big leagues. Cue the global court battles and us sipping champagne with the biggest names in tech. Cheers! 🥂 Fast forward to 2009, and I'm dishing out advice to a Aussie telco boardroom on their Apple contract. Turns out, they'd handed over the keys to the kingdom without even realizing it! 🤦♂️ Lesson learned: C-suite smarts don't always equal street smarts. The proof is in the pudding: while Apple, Microsoft, and Google skyrocketed to a combined market cap of $7.4 TRILLION, our Aussie telcos, Singtel and Telstra, barely budged from their $70.4 billion valuation in '07, in fact down to $66.2 Billion. 🙈 Yikes! Looks like we're not exactly breeding rocket scientists in the Aussie telco world. 🤔 And now, AI's on the horizon, promising cost savings and efficiency. But without that intuitive spark, I fear history's about to repeat itself. Memo to Aussie telcos: hire the smartest minds, embrace innovation, and stop leaving trillions on the table! #TelcoTales #InnovationOverDelegation #AIRevolution #AussieHustle

Sad to read the news that Workplace from Meta is going to be sunsetted next year. A lot of great companies achieved amazing things with it - not least some awesome ideas programs. Some of the highlights over the years for me include; - How proud the whole team were to support Nick De Blasio and the team at Nestlé in launching their InGenius ideas program on Workplace - Working with Stephen Lee and Irene Scardia to run Spark across the globe at Discovery Inc - Hustling to go from first meeting to launch to over 40,000 people with Scott and Justine (and later Alun) in about 2 weeks for AstraZeneca's award-winning AZ2025 campaign - Working with the partnerships team at Facebook/Meta on a really productive partnership (often over those lovely office lunches ;)) that began with Armin leading the way - Working with an absolutely huge (but shy) retailer to give a voice to millions of in-store colleagues Though the vast majority of our customers now use our apps for Microsoft Teams and Interact Software, we're here to do everything we can to help those still using the Workplace integration to minimise disruption as they navigate the path ahead. We'll be opening up our Teams and Interact Apps to those currently using Workplace, and connecting the dots with the Interact team who can help companies now scrambling for an alternative. Photo from one of the early and very swanky Transform events. Thanks for the memories - the only thing constant is change - onwards and upwards 💡

ENSURE VOICES of PWD arent just CENTERED but are the DRIVING FORCE behind meaningful & lasting REFORMS. Let’s focus more critically on the issues of human rights & the actual impact on lived experiences, as well as the potential for meaningful change. The NDIA DSS & QSGC sub42 emphasizes reforms will be centered around voices of PWD. However, the language used "centering voices" is used rhetorically without guaranteeing substantial change. To genuinely enshrine human rights, the Bill must explicitly incorporate provisions that reflect the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities & ensure these principles are non-negotiable aspects of legislation. The Bill must include clauses that explicitly state the rights of PWD as outlined in the CRPD, making it a legally binding commitment. Ensuring all reforms & implementations are measured against these rights. Establish robust accountability frameworks to monitor adherence to these rights. An independent body tasked with overseeing compliance & addressing grievances related to HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS. All decision-making processes, particularly those affecting policy & individual support plans, must be transparent & inclusive. ACTIVELY involving PWD in these design processes, not just in consultation but in decision-making roles. While the submission claims deep engagement & consultation, history has shown such engagements are superficial. For consultation process to be meaningful: The Bill should mandate consultation processes, specifying how feedback will be gathered, who will be consulted, & how their input will directly influence policy. Adequate resources must be allocated to support participation from a diverse range of disability communities, ensuring that marginalized voices are heard. The Bill should establish minimum uniform standards that all States & Territories must adhere to, preventing any jurisdiction from falling below these benchmarks. Enshrining the right to equitable & accessible services in the Bill is essential. Clearly defining what constitutes equity & accessibility in practical terms & ensuring all reforms are aligned with these definitions. Establish transparent & inclusive framework for implementation of the Bill. Including detailed guidelines on how policies will be developed, who will be involved, & how decisions will be made. Explicitly state in the Bill that all reforms & implementations will adhere to the CRPD. Ensuring the rights of PWD are the foundational principles guiding all actions. Develop funding models ensuring financial sustainability without compromising quality & accessibility of services. Identifying & addressing inefficiencies & ensuring fundings directed towards critical areas directly impacting participants' lives. Enhance operational transparency make all financial & operational decisions open to public scrutiny. Detailed reporting on funding allocations spent by Agency, ensuring accountability at all levels.

I came across this article on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) #Oline this morning, and it got me thinking about the positives and unintended consequences of adding generative AI tools to our workplaces. This story is about using AI to record meetings. We record every meeting at MurFin Group using Otter.ai. Not only does this provide a reliable record, but it's also more efficient than taking notes. With the generative AI and complex prompts we've developed, we can transform these meeting transcripts into a variety of high-quality documents such as: ➡ Contract Statements of Work ➡ Project Plans ➡ Business Plans ➡ Product Ideas ➡ Target Personas By structuring our meetings to focus on drawing out creative ideas, for example, we produce documents that 99.9% of the time need a quick edit, then they are ready for execution. However, as AI becomes more prevalent in recording and transcribing meetings, several issues may arise: ⛔ Permanent Record of Behaviour: A meeting transcript could serve as evidence in HR complaints and performance management, capturing moments when individuals may not be at their best. That would make a bad day worse. 😞 ⛔ Intellectual Property Risks: An idea you shared in a meeting might be mined and used successfully by your former employer, potentially leading to disputes over intellectual property. I'm bullish that today, the positives significantly outweigh the negatives. Here's why: ✅ Transcripts provide an accessible record for those who might not have been present or have disabilities that make note-taking difficult. ✅ Having a transcript ensures there is a clear record of what was discussed, which can highlight good leadership and culture or reveal areas needing improvement. ✅ AI tools can streamline the process of turning ideas into actionable documents, saving time and ensuring accuracy. Here are three of the tips we share at the MurFin Group that you can use to get started safely. 💡 1) Get a Paid Account and Enable Privacy Settings: Ensure your meeting transcripts are secure and you are not training an LLM with your IP. 💡 2) Strategically Record Meetings: You can focus on recording strategic meetings where critical decisions and creative ideas are discussed rather than every single meeting. 💡 3) Detailed Output Descriptions: When using AI to process transcripts, provide detailed descriptions of the desired output. Always involve a human in the loop, following the 80/20 rule: 80% drafting by AI, and 20% human creativity and editing. I can guarantee with careful planning and the right practices, you can leverage AI to create high-quality, actionable documents that drive your business forward. I would love to hear what you think if you have a second to comment. Jason Murrell + Julie Delvecchio + MurFin Group + Talking Brands.ai #AImeeting #Meeting #Technoligy #Transcripts #AI

FRAME THIS, STRAIGHT TO THE POOL ROOM Scale focused brand-building’s in the blood, and I’m going to curate gatherings of some of AU’s finest (more indie) brand-builders upcoming, as part of building my own brand-building brand, which will see me say brand a lot, and profile plenty of brands as the brand builds, if that’s not too confusing for your noggin on this hump day. GROUP GROUP will be grown grown, in my own very particular way. I’ll talk a lot more about what it is from next Tuesday. See you then. I’m 100% starting by working on a number of service-based projects to accelerate brand presence of companies in the tech ecosystem. And scaling my own brand alongside that, which will be focussed on audience-led growth, & building in public, no less. (I have a 7 year plan people!) The two focuses go hand-in-hand. Since there is a delicious irony in solo-starting a company called GROUP GROUP, one of my next courses of action is to bring together the GROUP: A crew of ultra-specialists that can form like a voltron for any small or large project intended to deliver the eyeballs, results and ‘hell yeah’ As I know from getting to know these specialists over the years, they love to get together too, in small curated gatherings, and connect with others/exercise their demons. I’ll be inviting a bunch of these folk into my soon-to-rollout ADVISORY ADVISORY GROUP GROUP too. Along with also inviting some killer senior experts in the ecosystem, and I’m just going to share with them super openly what’s going on (sort of like a shareholder update, monthly) and take their advice on a primary focus: Damn Good Curation. So, since there are so many ways to grow a brand, you might even be inclined to expect me to, oh I don’t know, present entirely unique ways to fully capitalise on/exploit nostalgia and pop culture and analogies and humour and emotion. I’ve used some pretty novel approaches to grow a Tractor Ventures/ Science Gallery Melbourne/ Melbourne Connect Innovation Precinct / Inspire9 / General Assembly/ FuckUp Nights with those teams, or by myself… So LFGG, as I build AND connect with some amazing people, and see where we land 🚀 If you know a brand-builder I should be tapping on the shoulder to invite along to these curated gatherings (in Melbourne and Sydney for now) tag them in, and give them a shout out as to why. Or, if that is you, own your awesomeness, and tag yourself in! Just, please: no *shudder* personal brand builders. I’ll start by giving Joel Connolly and Lucy Wark props for their awesome work building amazing brands in Blackbird & Normal. (Maybe they'll pop up at the gatherings.) And Lego, you might get an invite to the gatherings too. The last 3 years of helping you build your brand alongside the Tractor efforts too, were a freebie, from me to you. No wonder your 'Farming' Category Manager (pictured) looks happy as Lego Larry. I'm here having to just believe him that the commission cheque is in the mail!

Had a great time going deep into the fantastic insights from our research on data privacy and brand integrity with Nadia Cameron from Mi3Australia - - one of the most comprehensive studies of its kind. A surprising takeaway? The people most at risk might not be who you think... There's a general misconception that 'older people' are more at risk of experiencing a cyber attack. But under 35's are: 🤳 Are more likely to be 'digital natives', spending more of their time online 🔐 Less likely to keep track of their passwords 👩💻 More likely to use basic passwords or the same password across platforms, and to connect to public WiFi networks. 😁 However, (and potentially a case of Dunning-Kruger over-confidence?) are more likely to say 'I’m confident my personal data won’t be stolen' And with recent news of the cyber attacks from both Ticketek and Ticketmaster (sorry Tay Tay fans!), the likelihood of being part of a breach is higher than ever. So what can brands do about it? BRAND BEYOND BREACHES deep-dives into how brands can manage the conversation, both during and after a breach, while also exhibiting consumer-centric, data-driven behaviour. Thanks Nadia for the fantastic article! If you're curious to find out more, link to download the report is in the comments. #dataprivacy #brandintegrity #marketing #communications

One of the key takeaways from Leading the Product here in Australia over the past weeks has been how AI & product management intersect. We are at an inflection point and as architects of innovation, product managers are tasked with discerning how AI can be seamlessly woven into the fabric of their product development processes to not only keep pace with technological advancements but also to pioneer new standards of efficiency, functionality, and user experience. By leveraging AI, product managers can identify and capitalize on emerging trends, predict market shifts, and understand user behaviors at a granular level. AI-driven analytics provide deep insights that inform strategic decisions, enabling product managers to innovate proactively rather than reactively. Incorporating AI into the ideation phase allows for the generation of creative solutions through techniques like generative design and machine learning algorithms that can suggest novel features or improvements based on vast datasets. During the development phase, AI enhances efficiency through automated testing, product anslysis, bug detection, and optimization of code, significantly reducing time-to-market and optimises resource allocation. AI also plays a crucial role in enhancing user experience by enabling personalized interactions and recommendations, thus fostering a deeper connection between the product and its users. Real-time feedback and data analysis help product managers continuously iterate and refine products, ensuring they meet evolving user needs and expectations. Moreover, AI-driven innovation empowers product managers to set new industry standards. By integrating cutting-edge AI capabilities, they can develop products that offer unparalleled functionality, such as advanced predictive analytics, voice and image recognition, and autonomous operations. These innovations not only differentiate their products in a competitive market but also set benchmarks for future developments. In essence, product managers must adeptly harness the transformative power of AI to drive innovation, ensuring their products remain at the forefront of technological evolution and deliver exceptional value to users. Through strategic implementation of AI, they can lead their teams in creating groundbreaking products that define the future of their industries. (assisted by AI) #productmanagement #AI

My Ignite talk at DisruptHR Melbourne on "Getting High on AI." 🎤 has just been published. The audience -> HR practitioners... Here's a quick take: 🔍 The Two AIs 🔍 : 1. 🧠 Artificial Intelligence 🧠: New (ish), smart, helpful, but flawed and biased 2. 🤗 Applied Improv 🤗: Classic, curious, collaborative, and truly human. 👍🏼➕ Improv Principle - "Yes, and..." 👍🏼➕: Enhances creativity, communication, and problem-solving in business, education, therapy, and life. 🤖 ChatGPT 🤖: My digital improv partner. Great for ideas but lacks that human touch. It's much better at IDEATION than CREATIVITY. <h/t Lee Schofield> 🤗 Applied Improv 🤗: Enhances intelligence, creativity, and humanity in the workplace. All this to say, AI (Applied Improv) is a powerful tool to practice, test, and grow crucial human skills such as listening, curiosity, confidence, and risk-taking. LinkedIn Network...regardless of how we are connected, if you've been affected by the current redundancies in Telstra or the tech industry, I'm available to talk or help make a connection. Keep your head up. These decisions are financial ones, they are not an indication of who you are or what you're capable of. Looking back, being made redundant was one of the best things that could've happened in my career. Keep your chin up, focus on what you can control, and let EVERYONE in your network know that you're open for work. #career #work #linkedin #tech #help #network

For realz, Elon Musk named the Starlink dish "Dishy MacFlatFace". I approve. FYI 440MS down (Telstra gave a max of 38ms down, usually closer to 10ms). Upload? Telstra 6, Dishy 34. Cancelling our Telstra service this week. Yup, dear Elon can call his dish anything he goshdarn wants to. :P (he's still a kn0bhead when it comes to people, but his TEAM did a great job with skynet err #Starlink ). Geekery: Tracking satellites at 17000 miles per hour, orbiting every 90 mins and Dishy MacBoatFace switches satellites every 4 mins but that will drop as more are launched into space (by 2028). Now you know. And Telstra? yeah not the only game in town anymore (Optus and Virgin were not out of the starting gate really, let alone also rans). Blessed be the fruit (of the Starlink satellites). *this post brought to you by #Starlink (not sponsored).
