We had been discussing on this issue for last five to six years. Last time while working as a review committee member, this was one of the agenda agreed by the NBR. However, this could not be implemented through Finance Act 2023. Nevertheless, this year after lot of persuasion through different chamber and physical meeting, they understood the impact and now heard that they are considering this amendment which is undoubtedly a welcoming move for both end. This will ensure predictability and align us with International best practices too! Last year when slab rate for PIT was changed through FA 2023 and lot of new provision was introduced through ITA 2023, Many individuals got impacted through higher tax deduction. Now, if it is implemented, we won't have any uncertainty in June every year. Many people criticize that our regulatory body never pay heed to our issues but in my experience it is all about focus, preparedness and persuasion that can make things happen if our intention is positive for the country. =https://lnkd.in/gkJsZrqF

That’s a wrap on our first in person Xero Partner Advisory Council Meeting for 2024. Always a big two days of collaborating with various Xero teams across different parts of the product as well as the executive team to understand the vision and where #Xero is headed. Some of the key agenda items we discussed and gave feedback on were as follows: - The new invoicing - feedback and roadmap - Developments in payroll - Developments in BAS - Developments in Xero HQ - Developments in Inventory - What Xero are doing behind the scenes with govt - Ecosystem/API developments - Financial insights developments + a few things we raised that we are working on in the background 🙌 + some very exciting things you will have to wait until Roadshow to hear about 🎉🎉 That’s all I can share but trust me when I say there are some cool things coming. 😎 I did ask them how far away is it until we can say hey Xero do a BAS 🧐 😜 they said that isn’t on the short term road map. This measure is long overdue. The major accounting bodies and SMSF Association have renewed their calls for accountants’ certificates to be removed from the wholesale and sophisticated investor tests in response to the government’s consultation. There is a perception that the holding of an accountant’s certificate removes risk from the advisor or product provider and shifts that risk to accountants instead. The associations warned that any litigation for damages can be awarded against the accountant, requiring access to their PI insurance. However not all PI policies will insure accountants for the provision of this service. The associations also support the introduction of consent requirements, which clarify that a client must specifically acknowledge instances when they will be classed as a wholesale client and ensure they understand they will not receive the benefit of protections provided to retail clients.
