I’ve been fortunate to be involved in many projects at Hillarys Boardwalk over a twenty year period. Offering an interactive experience with the surrounding marine environment, Hillarys Boardwalk is a fabulous asset for the local community as well as wider population of Western Australia.
Extending on this, for the past two years we’ve been working on a base build alterations project within The Breakwater building, which I was involved in delivering while at Cox Architecture fifteen years ago. This project involves amalgamating a number of small food and beverage tenancies into one larger space to accommodate a new family orientated venue for Night Owl Entertainment.
Modifying a unique building located over water, within an operational retail complex presents a number of design, construction and compliance challenges. Three fitouts as well as a set of public toilets were demolished. A set of escape stairs have been relocated and a number of large structural braces have been modified. Working collaboratively with a great team in the form of Wyllie, Lease Equity, NightOwl Entertainment, Department of Transport, Northerly, Buckingham Re-Development Co.(BRDC), McDowall Affleck, BCA Consultants, ComplyWest and BHO Interiors it’s nice to see this project starting to take shape.
In the capable hands of Northerly Group base build alteration works are nearing completion which will allow Night Owl Entertainment’s fitout to commence. We’re looking forward to a new venue further strengthening and diversifying the family orientated offering at Hillarys Boardwalk in the not too distant future.
