The principal supplier of water, wastewater and drainage services throughout Western Australia.
About us
We’re the principal supplier of water, wastewater and drainage services in Western Australia to hundreds of thousands of homes, businesses and farms, as well as providing bulk water to farms for irrigation. Our services, projects and activities span over 2.6 million square kilometres. We have regional offices in Perth, Bunbury, Albany, Karratha, Geraldton, Northam and Kalgoorlie which allow our employees to provide a high level of professional expertise to customers. We have over 3,500 employees and manage an asset base of over $37 billion in water supply, wastewater, drainage infrastructure and bulk water for irrigation. We’re owned by the Western Australian Government and are accountable to our sole shareholder, the Minister for Water, for delivery of our services in a commercial manner. Most of our surplus is returned to the government as a dividend to contribute to the development of the state, with the remainder reinvested in capital works. Water Corporation was created in January 1996, in a restructure of the water industry in Western Australia. The Water Authority in turn had been created in 1985 through a merger of the former Metropolitan Water Authority, which operated in Perth, the state capital, and the water and wastewater operations of the former WA Public Works Department. We’re the seventh successive agency to deal with these services in Perth, Western Australia. We're evolving... Living on the world’s driest continent, the biggest challenge we face is reducing the impact of climate change. It’s never been more important to work collaboratively with government, industry, and the community, to secure our water future and take care of our home state. To support these efforts, our vision focuses on our operations having the lowest possible environmental impact, are safe for all, and are delivered at the lowest total cost.

We've had another incredible NAIDOC week at our offices across the state. 🖤 💛 ❤️ It's been a week of celebrating and continuing to deepen our knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their culture. We're more motivated than ever to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversation, to foster a society where the contributions of First Nations peoples are fully valued and respected. While NAIDOC week is drawing to a close, this year's theme reminds us to keep the fire burning all year round. 🔥 #KeepTheFireBurning #BlakLoudAndProud #NAIDOC #NAIDOCWEEK #NAIDOC2024

Waterways have remained a sacred place for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for more than 65,000 years. 💧 To celebrate this deep connection we embarked on a collaborative project to create an artwork which represents our WA water story. Thanks to local Aboriginal artists Carol Martin and Kaedisha Westberg, and with the help of Nani Creative and our employees, we now have an artwork representing the significance of our WA water sources to Aboriginal people and culture. The City of Wanneroo's Aquamotion has seen its visitor numbers nearly triple in four years. Thanks to smart initiatives they've avoided a corresponding increase in water use. 💧 Their commitment to water conservation has earned them the 2024 Waterwise Aquatic Centre of the Year. Some of their strategies include; 🏊♂️ Upgraded filtration and disinfection methods, reducing the need to backwash as often. 📈 Use of real-time data to track water usage allowing them to find and repair leaks. 🚽 Upgraded sink, shower and toilet fixtures to top-rated WELS products. 🚿 Installed pool deck open air showers with tap timers.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have occupied and cared for this continent for more than 60,000 years. This NAIDOC we continue to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of our First Nations people. 🖤 💛 ❤️ We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the First Australians and through this year’s theme, 'Keep the fire burning! This week marks the first anniversary of us taking over responsibility for water services in 141 Aboriginal communities under our Aboriginal Communities Water Services program. 🙌 It’s been a busy 12 months for the team as we focus on building partnerships with communities to develop long-term solutions for reliable drinking water and wastewater services. Among several programs of work, Djarindjin, 170km north east of Broome, is the first to receive a new water source under the program, supporting population growth and enhancing health and wellbeing outcomes.

We've been busy in Bayswater this week, planting trees at Riverside Gardens. 🌿🌲 We seized the opportunity to beautify the area, as part of essential upgrades at our nearby wastewater pump station. This work helps ensure the reliability of our network for years to come. 🙌 It's been great working in the City of Bayswater to upgrade our assets and enhance the local communities greens spaces.

An essential pump station in Orelia has become the canvas for a stunning new public mural. 🙌 The piece, by local artist Imogen Palmer, features some our native bird life including a black swan and a white-faced heron. 🐦 It was designed in collaboration with Year 5 and 6 students from North Parmelia Primary School, who took part in a special workshop. Since 2017 the Splash of Colour program has celebrated our communities' connection to water through public art. 💧 Learn more about the program here >> https://lnkd.in/gyQdyQ_K #SplashOfColourWA
