As you rock ‘n’ roll into the weekend - check out this tribute from Elvis impersonator, Mark Brown, as he sings a very special “Thank you, thank you very much” to the call taker and paramedics who saved his friends life. Mark called 000 for help when his friend of 50 years, Colin Dunn, collapsed suddenly – fading in and out of consciousness. Call taker Diana Ng Tabaquero said Mark was quick to call for help and calmly followed her instructions while waiting for the paramedics to arrive. Despite being ‘all shook up’, Mark was able to provide some helpful information about Colin that helped with his treatment. Ambulance Victoria Paramedics Leeza Parthenios and James Graham arrived on scene and found Colin had dangerously low blood sugar. Colin was taken to hospital where he was treated and discharged later that night. Preferring ‘a little less conversation’, the musical duo have sprung into action to record a new song, adding their lyrics of appreciation to one of the King’s greatest hits. Now, that is a story you ‘can’t help falling in love’ with as you roll into the weekend. https://bit.ly/3Wt6mLJ

Triple Zero Victoria Call Taker, Stu Atkins, has been re-connected with lifesaver Jarrod Musticone who called 000 earlier this year when his grandmother Laura Edgerton suffered a life threatening stroke. The pair had just sat down for coffee when Laura suddenly started to look unwell. Recognising the signs of stroke, Jarrod immediately called 000, clearly stating that “it appears my grandmother is having a stroke”. Ambulance Call Taker Stu Atkins praised Jarrod for being "so remarkably calm" when on the phone with 000, as it aided in the quick dispatch of paramedics to his location. Jarrod was guided by the Triple Zero Call Taker through a series of tests, to provide paramedics with critical information for when they arrived. Laura was rushed to hospital and received life-saving treatment. She has now made a full recovery. What a great outcome thanks to the quick, calm and professional response of Jarrod, our Triple Zero Call Taker and Ambulance Victoria paramedic Rebecca Mobbs. Strokes can happen suddenly but there are F.A.S.T signs of a stroke that you can look for to respond quickly. 😕 Face: Check their face – is there any drooping? 💪 Arms: Can they raise both arms? 💬 Speech: Is their speech slurred? Do they understand you? ☎️ Time: If you see any of these signs, call 000 immediately You can catch the reunion here: https://lnkd.in/gwBRiczn

There is never a dull moment as an Emergency Communications Officer at Triple Zero Victoria. Just ask David, who helped deliver not one, but THREE newborns in a week – including two in one shift. These babies were not waiting to be born in hospital, which is why their families made urgent calls to 000 for assistance. David was at the end of the line, staying calm and offering guidance, helping to safely deliver two baby girls and a baby boy. It’s David’s fifth special delivery since starting in 2022, and he says it’s always a thrill and an honour to help a new life enter the world. Thanks to the skill and dedication of Emergency Communications Officers like David, Triple Zero Victoria helped deliver 169 babies last year. Now that’s a job where you can make a real difference in people’s lives. This #ThankAFirstResponderDay we’re expressing our gratitude and appreciation to our incredible Emergency Communication Officers. Emergency Communication Officers are the first point of contact for people during an emergency. They are the calm and reassuring voice on the other end of the phone guiding people through some of life’s worst moments and connecting them with the life saving emergency response they need. Rarely do callers have the time to thank their Emergency Communication Officer, however, there is no doubt that the work they do is deeply valued and saves lives. Check out some of the amazing recognition that we have recently received from 000 callers… And if you think you’re made of the right stuff visit triplezero.vic.gov.au to join the Triple Zero Victoria team. #ThankAFirstResponder #PowerOfThanks #TAFRD #EmergencyServices

It’s not every day that a baby enters the world on the side of the road - but that’s what happened with baby Evie in January this year. Little Evie was delivered with the assistance of Ambulance Call-Taker Jessica Stewart in the family car, on the side of Burwood Highway. When 31-year-old mum Ashlie went into labour with her second baby, her and partner Ben hopped into their car and headed to hospital. But when her waters broke enroute, Ben had no choice but to pull-up! They called triple zero and, following Call-Taker Jessica’s instructions, Ashlie and Ben delivered their brand-new baby girl. According to Ben, Evie wasn’t waiting for anyone – born in just 20 seconds! Evie is just one of the 138 babies Triple Zero Victoria, Call-Takers help deliver each year. Hear all about it in 'Welcome baby Evie', the latest episode of I AM 000. Available now, wherever you get your podcasts. https://bit.ly/3WQpbsM
