🍷Cheers to another year of a delicious partnership between The Star and the Royal Queensland Wine Awards. This is The Star's 4th year proudly partnering with the RNA (home of #TheEkka and Royal Queensland Awards) to promote the best of Queensland wine as part of one of Australia's largest wine awards, with over 1400 entries from across the country. This year we also uncorked a new initiative for Queensland winemakers, covering the cost of entry for up to two wines per vineyard, which played its part in doubling the number of homegrown entries from last year. 👏🏻Congratulations to: Boxi Zhen head winemaker at Ballandean Estate Wines as the Emerging Queensland Winemaker of the Year. As part of the Award a range of Boxi's Ballandean Estate wines will be served at #TheStarBrisbane venues over the next 12 months as well as promoting his craft and the industry at a range of events and functions. Twisted Gum Wines for Best Queensland Wine of Show (also awarded a gold medal and ranked the second best 2022 Shiraz of the entire Awards). 🎨 Atlas Fine Wines Watervale Riesling for Best Artistic Wine Label Prize, judged by Brisbane's own irrepressible street artist Matt Tervo. And #TheStar’s own Jessica Dwyer who won the wine scholarship award and given hands on experience across the entire wine making process from the vineyard to wine stewarding. It's been another wonderful Royal Queensland Wine Awards and we can't wait to celebrate the best of Queensland wine in 2025. Cheers again! #supportinglocal

📢 We are thrilled to announce #TheStarBrisbane will open on Thursday August 29, 2024, as part of the first phase of the highly anticipated, multi-phased reveal of the $3.6 billion #QueensWharfBrisbane precinct. From late August into September and throughout the remainder of 2024, a steady stream of new restaurants, bars, public spaces and destinations will begin opening, enlivening the previously underutilised 12 hectares of river’s edge. Public spaces will be among the first areas to be opened and that includes the viewing platform on #SkyDeck, #MillerPark, and of course Brisbane's newest bridge, the #NevilleBonnerBridge linking Queen’s Wharf to SouthBank. Other areas to open as part of the first phase include: 🎨 The incredible artworks throughout the precinct including the signature piece from home-grown, internationally recognised artist Lindy Lee AO 🎉 The #EventCentre. 🛏 The five-star #TheStarGrand with bookings to open very soon 🍽 And a collection of dining and leisure experiences that have already been announced. The Star Brisbane CEO Daniel Finch said the opening will be a planned and phased roll out over many weeks and in numerous stages. “We want to ensure our team members are prepared, our facilities have been tested, our processes are right and importantly our guests have an exceptional experience that they will talk about and come back to experience again,” he said. “Not everything will open all at once on day one. “That also means returning guests will find something new to experience, not just here at The Star but also across both sides of the river.”  Mr Finch also highlighted he is equally as focused on The Star’s remediation plan to transform its culture, governance, technology and operations. “We are subject to regulatory and government approvals and as such our remediation is crucial and will ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes.” 📢 Stay tuned for further announcements soon. The Star has always been a strong supporter of the Australian arts industry - from theatre productions and lyrical performances, to live music and stand-up comedy.  We are particularly proud of #TheStarBrisbane's investment in a multi-million-dollar public art offering soon to be unveiled at the new #QueensWharfBrisbane precinct. Not only supporting the artists but the spin-off work to local creatives. Several of the major works have been made at Perides Art Foundry including Brisbane artist Justene Williams' 'Sheila', a massive bronze goddess-like sculpture and a giant floating garden from indigenous artist #TonyAlbert. While the major Lindy Lee AO sculpture "Being Swallowed by the Milky Way (an eight-metre, eight-tonne bronze) is being made at UAP | Urban Art Projects Brisbane foundry. Respected art dealer Philip Bacon Galleries leads the project’s specialist arts advisory panel, which also includes curator Liz Nowell and Indigenous curator and arts administrator Avril Quaill which chose the art for the project. Philip Bacon said the public art is “a point of difference”. “It’s what people will remember. It’s a big leap of faith when you commission anything. You’re never sure what will happen but we’re very happy with the results and there has been a 100 per cent commitment from The Star and everyone there has been fantastic.” You can read more here from Phil Brown https://lnkd.in/eQ2jJdmY Destination Brisbane Consortium

  • With the National Rugby League State of Origin series in full swing, we are proud to announce #TheStar has teamed up with NSW Rugby League Ltd to provide a unique opportunity for the Westpac NSW #SkyBlues through a bespoke development program, focusing on brand education, employment and mentorship. The 20-member squad will undertake the NSWRL Women’s Development Program in a series of workshops while in camp. They will learn tools to identify, communicate and activate their personal brand in and beyond sport, followed by two further stages providing potential employment opportunities and mentorship. Following the brand education workshops, a limited number of players will be provided employment opportunities at The Star, aligned with their skill set and desired career development outcomes.  NSWRL Chief Commercial Officer Jodie Cross said a key outcome of the program was to ensure the Sky Blues had every opportunity to finish their Rugby League playing careers in a batter place career-wise than when they started. “We are incredibly grateful to The Star for their investment in the future of the Sky Blues players and the opportunities not only to learn to leverage their brand, but also with access to employment options and mentoring.” Chief Executive Officer of #TheStarSydney Janelle Campbell said, “The Star has a key focus on gender equity so it’s our pleasure to help provide development, skill and career opportunities for those talented athletes once they step off the field. “We look forward to a time when some of those players may join us here at The Star.” Thanks also to Brand Builders for their contribution to the program.
