Jillian and Alex are hitting the road on the 1st of May to the city of Wagga Wagga, where Jillian will be MC for the day at the Local Land Services Riverina #NaturalCapital Conversations event thanks to the Riverina LLS and Charles Sturt - AgriPark. We have been engaged by LLS to coordinate 25 speakers across 16 sessions, both in person and virtually, combining short and sharp presentations with informative panel sessions and interactive Q&A. It’s an incredible event, mixing #education, #development & #networking on the topic of Natural Capital for land managers across the state. If you, or anyone in your network, would benefit from a greater understanding in this space, join us! You can get your ticket below. https://lnkd.in/gKnxih9M Photos taken from our latest engagement with the wonderful Southern NSW Innovation Hub at their event in Dubbo last month. Meet Simon, a former Private Offices user at The Exchange. He's an absolute legend at whatever he sets his mind to. Simon used The Exchange Private Offices as a base to start his own business. If you jump onto his website, the first sentence in his bio truly encapsulates Simon… “I’m here to let my creativity help people and do my part in a world that’s pretty f***** up, to try and make things a little nicer while we are here.” 🌟 Watch and listen to the second video in our Stories of The Exchange series 🎥 Is it time to start your adventure? 🚀

Proud to welcome this wonderful group through the doors of The Exchange yesterday. 🚀

Yesterday we launched our Future Not Followers program at The Exchange Group in Dubbo. This impactful initiative is set to reach five schools across regional NSW, equipping high school girls with essential financial literacy skills for life. We were honoured to have the presence of Clr Matt Wright, Clr Jessica Gough, and Clr Josh Black from Dubbo Regional Council, along with Jacqui Masters (Skelton), Senior Project Officer at Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) Program, Training Services NSW. Our Founder and CEO, Amanda Rose, Founder, CEO, Speaker, and Tiz Porreca, Founder and Director of AMONGST®, delivered inspiring talks on confidence, goal setting, careers, budgeting and the power of LinkedIn. They urged the girls to aspire high and emphasised the importance of strategic planning to achieve their goals. Joining us was a panel of local career women, including Tanya Forster (CEO and Psychologist, Macquarie Health Collective), Rachel Smith (MAHRI) (People Business Partner, Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia), Klaira Shepherd (People Advisor, Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia), and Maddy Herbert (HR & Workers Compensation Manager, Fletcher International Exports Pty Ltd) who shared insights on authenticity, embracing new challenges, and diverse career pathways. Thank you to the NSW Minister for Women, Jodie Harrison, who encouraged the girls to seize the opportunities presented by this program. The Future Not Followers program was developed with funding from the NSW Government, and the pilot program was generated from Women NSW’s Council for Women’s Economic Opportunity (CWEO). We’re excited to continue rolling out the program in schools in Bowral and Bathurst in the coming weeks! #FutureNotFollowers #financialliteracy #regionalnsw #girlseducation

For this year's #internationalwomensday celebration at The Exchange, alongside Commonwealth Bank & Dubbo Regional Council, we are doing things differently. The #UNwomen IWD 2024 theme is 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress' and this year, our event seeks to shift focus back to our #local #community - investing in and celebrating the women working tirelessly at the centre of it. 🌟 Today, we invite you to nominate a Local Lady in any of the categories who deserves to be celebrated at this special event.🌟 We want to hear about the incredible women who have made a difference in the lives of those around them. From the #quietachievers, to the loud and out #hustlers, the women who make a difference and deserve the recognition (but may not always receive it), and who we as a community should be investing in to safeguard regional progress. 🗓 Nominations close February 18th. 👇 For more information, and to nominate your local lady, click the link below. https://lnkd.in/ghRdJems Ten women will be selected to be celebrated at the #commbank Women's Assembly 2024 Local Ladies Lunch on Sunday March 3rd, with three invited to talk about their work on the day with our host, Jillian Kilby. 🎟 Tickets to the event are on sale now - https://lnkd.in/gbTp4kxh Kate O'Shaughnessy Alexandra Cowley Abbey Downes Kirsty Parish Karen Robertson Julie Webster

This time 5-years ago, the scaffolding went up at The Exchange Clock Tower. Our first grand renovation project of a significant heritage icon. 🏗 Hello 👋 (Jillian here!) and welcome back to work for 2024… because we all know it’s been a little hot and some of us don’t really, truly kick off until Feb out here. As a civil engineer, I brought some prior knowledge to the project (and it helps my cousin is a builder David Grattan), however, that only gets us so far. I remember heading into 2019 with an intense sense of determination 🎯, an empty bank account, and a wicked deadline. We had 9-months to complete the building purchase with Telstra (Many thanks Brogan Walsh) and 90-days to repaint the Clock Tower ( 🙏 Tony McNaught & Dubbo Scaffolding). 🤠 Special thanks to Commonwealth Bank for the loan to buy paint and Dulux for throwing in the free paint brushes. A little like the return of La Nina, that sense of fierce determination is back, yeah baby 🎉, in 2024. But it is a little different this time. Perhaps it’s because I’m turning 40. 👗 Perhaps it’s a result of another years experience as CEO and my coach Toni Alderdice. However, as I reflect, I believe this mindset has been learned from our site managers, Kate O'Shaughnessy (Dubbo) and Georgina Gourley (Narrabri). They have brought to our business a calm focus, a caring #community lens, and professionalism through their management style and approach. Thank you, George and Kate. As a result, my word for the year is #FOCUS. The outcome of my focus will be to #movecloser to what I love to do, how I love to spend my time, and who I want to spend time with. I’ve noticed by saying NO, that there is space for the things that are a HELL YES. Which is silly because we’ve heard this advice a thousand times. Walking the walk can be harder. As I scrolled Instagram this week, delighting in the new and creative posts emerging from our Customer Experience Officers (Hi Lucy and Abbey Downes), I noticed just how far we have come in 5-years and how lucky we are to be embraced by the #Dubbo and #Narrabri community. Thank you for turning up to #work and #network, booking #meetingrooms, and being part of our #community. In finishing off today, I want to share a snippet from a beautiful email sent to our team to kick start the year, by our Manager Alexandra Cowley. “This year, … we head into the new year with a team that is #professional, #consistent, #committed and #passionate about what they do - you should all be incredibly proud.” I’ve watched Alex grow from a Customer Experience Officer at The Exchange Dubbo to Manager of the whole #Company. Her approach to team culture is exceptional. There are varied views on “what” should be your first hire in a startup / small business. For me, my advice is to find yourself an Alex.  A - Ambition and attitude  L - Levity  E - Excellence X - Excel (yes - the spreadsheet) Happy New Year everyone, and thank you for being part of The Exchange.  Jillian Kilby

Today, Jill shared some photos of her old office. My first thoughts were, "Oh my, look at that computer! How old is Jill?" Here is the story that came with the not-so-old photos... "The Exchange was built to solve a problem and involves three important components… 1) space for collaboration (meeting rooms, event areas, lounges), 2) space for being productive (coworking, private offices), 3) community, which is tied together by both space and people. I want to talk about productive space. In 2009, I opened my first real business (not that selling eggs in year three wasn’t real; it’s just that I didn’t have an ABN). I was living on a farm west of Walgett and pretty darn excited about my new office space. It was a demountable house on the Barwon river overlooking the garden. I collected a second-hand computer, second-hand fax machine, vintage stool (upon reflection… gahhhh that was so uncomfortable), second-hand filing cabinet, my satellite internet, and our new black Labrador. I proudly sent photos to my friends of this new set-up. I loved walking across the lawn every morning with my coffee, ready to start the day in my office. I even had a little table for meetings if anyone ever visited, of which only one client visited in three years. It was so special to have my own office, I loved my space, my second screen, my dog lying on the floor snoring through phone calls. So if the fourth bedroom of our home is so great, why do we need The Exchange? Why did I build it? Who would actually use a coworking space if we are so blessed in Regional Australia with spare bedrooms? Sure, it was a productive space, but it wasn’t what I needed as a small business owner. It’s not as simple as adding the fundamental office ingredients and expecting a great outcome. I was missing community, which brings confidence, inclusion, motivation, capability, and capacity. I missed the ability to boil the kettle and talk to someone, the learning that comes when someone shares a tip about a new app that might save me time logging my travel expenses, a kind word and encouragement to keep growing a business when you are most afraid it could all come crashing down. There are ten private offices in each Exchange because we believe in providing opportunities for people to have space to work, to be productive, to grow and feel strong each and every day. We are supporting people to step out of the home office and into our space because we know the benefits for mental health, productivity and learning that come from working in a shared space like The Exchange."
