Located between two environmentally-delicate UNESCO World Heritage Sites, here at the resort we take great pride in our sustainability-focused operations. From composting and conserving water to electric vehicles and energy efficient appliances, we're always innovating new ways in which we can reduce our footprint. This #WorldOceanDay, we're spotlighting one of the ways that we protect the nearby Great Barrier Reef and the oceans beyond. 🌊 Because while the waters of our beautiful tropical sea seem pristine from afar, did you know scientists estimate that every square kilometer of the ocean contains over 40,000 pieces of plastic? ⁉ Guests can come together for a unique citizen scientist activity that prevents plastic and waste pollution from entering into the Great Barrier Reef's delicate ecosystem 🐠 Joined by a Tangaroa Blue marine biologist, volunteers spend the morning removing waste from Four Mile Beach before logging their findings in the Australia Marine Debris Initiative database. The database is used by change-makers around the world to better understand the pattern of marine plastic pollution and help facilitate large-scale change! We're proud to be able to offer our guests the opportunity to travel more meaningfully when they visit Tropical North Queensland.
