Queensland Gives by Queensland Community Foundation - a charitable trust creating a perpetual income for 300+ charities
About us
Queensland Gives by Queensland Community Foundation (QCF) was established by The Honourable Mike Ahern AO in 1997, as a public charitable trust set up to serve Queensland’s communities by providing an enduring funding source for charities. QCF is now a leading state trust fund of $132m with 255+ sub-funds. Since inception, almost $35 million has been distributed for charitable purposes, creating lasting change for the wellbeing of current and future generations. Individuals, companies, charities and other groups – including communities – may establish a sub-fund under the QCF Trust Deed to support a cause or causes of their choice in their geographic area. Donations are pooled and invested with the income distributed annually for charitable purposes. Since establishment in 1997 the pool of invested funds has grown to $115 million as at January 2022. The General Fund was established to provide a secure permanent trust fund for donors wishing to support Queensland charities. The named sub-funds are held for specific charitable purposes as recommended by donors. QCF has been sponsored by The Public Trustee of Queensland, Anglo American and QIC since inception. Each of the sponsors commits not just financial assistance, but also resources and services to ensure none of the donated or bequeathed funds are used in administration charges. The QCF Board of Governors is entirely voluntary and consists of leaders from a variety of fields who give their time as a community service. It is the responsibility of the Board to provide recommendations and information to the Trustee.

Yesterday we were delighted to catch up with our 2024 Toowoomba Regional Grant recipients for morning tea. The joy of these sessions is that together we share our projects, our challenges and our wins to learn how we can help local communities more. This year's grant round was designed to assist with those struggling due to cost of living pressures. It was incredible to hear about the expansion plans that Help A Friend Club Toowoomba Inc has to address the ever increasing number of clients needing respite. Help a Friend Club assists people in Toowoomba who are at risk of homelessness, and operates an accommodation building, Daisy House, for short and long-term accommodation. The grant offered by Queensland Gives will support the Help a Friend Club in upgrading Daisy House to a larger, more modern facility, through the acquisition of beds and furniture. The impact of this grant will be to assist more people at risk of, or currently experiencing, homelessness in the region. Another grant was awarded to Rosies - Friends on the Street to upgrade their equipement. Rosies provides friendship, acceptance, and a sense of belonging to individuals who are homeless, disadvantaged, or socially isolated. They achieve this through their street outreach program, where they offer hospitality similar to welcoming a friend into one's home by providing a cup of tea or coffee. The grant from Queensland Gives will support Rosies to purchase equipment that will enable them to meet the increasing needs of the Toowoomba community. This grant will impact approximately 270 people each week who will benefit from continued service, due in part to new equipment. #queenslandgives #toowoomba #givewhereyoulive
