We are supporting farmers across the country to prepare for, manage through and recover from drought with the signing of the National Drought Agreement (NDA). 📜 The agreement encourages a consistent, collaborative approach to drought across the country and is an intergovernmental agreement.   Find out more about the agreement: https://lnkd.in/gE_Fa5t8   #BeHere4Qld #BeTheDifference

Queensland has signed a new National Drought Agreement (NDA) with the Commonwealth and other states and territories to help farmers better withstand drought. The 5-year agreement outlines how different jurisdictions will work together to support farmers preparing for and managing through drought, wherever they live. The last agreement dated back to 2018, when conditions were drying across much of Australia. The new NDA (2024-2029) supports a consistent and shared approach to drought across state and territory borders, as conditions dry again in different regions. Creating a supportive and inclusive workplace for people with a disability is significant to ensuring that their disability is not a barrier to success.   The Department of Resources (Queensland) is leading the way in creating disability inclusive workplaces with two proactive initiatives in place to facilitate open and ongoing conversations with their employees, creating greater awareness and more disability inclusive workplace practices.   Led by their All-Abilities Action Group and disability executive champion, a session was held with 250 staff who identified as having a disability, disability advocates and parents of children with a disability. As a direct response to the session, the department committed to creating a bespoke Neurodiversity Ally Program.   The department also designed an Inclusion Passport pilot which captures the employees’ needs and helps guide a conversation about reasonable adjustments and flexible work in a more holistic way.   These innovative initiatives are setting new standards for inclusion and accessibility in the workplace, ensuring that every employee has the support they need to thrive.   Find out more about this and other case studies in the State of the sector report 2024: https://lnkd.in/gvnr4zbk   #BeHere4Qld #BeTheDifference #BeYou #Stateofthesector

Bushfires can cause property and infrastructure damage and lead to loss of life. The fire itself is only one element of the danger, with toxic fumes and heavy smoke causing impaired vision and impact on air quality.  Did you know planned burns can help reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires? 🕒🚒 The Department of Environment, Science and Innovation’s Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers are doing an exceptional job carrying out planned burns and helping reduce bushfires’ potential impacts. Kudos to the team as well as the community of Queensland helping with the planned burns. 👏 #BeHere4Qld #BeTheDifference #QueenslandEnvironment #Community

A huge thank you to our Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers who over the past few weeks have been conducting planned burns around the state to reduce the risk and intensity of bushfires and their potential impacts on communities, infrastructure, parks, and forests. 🚒 Planned burns are also vital in promoting ecological health, biodiversity, and the conservation of species and habitats. 🌳🐦 These activities increase during the cooler months (like now) when conditions are more favourable. 🧊 We have been working in partnership with other agencies including Queensland Fire Department, local councils, our neighbours, and First Nations partners to carry out the prescribed burns. 💪 #QueenslandEnvironment
