What a fantastic evening yesterday with the Inspired By You and South East Community Links group mentors and volunteers! We had the pleasure of participating in a highly connected, supportive and motivating leadership workshop facilitated by Jeanette Mundy. It was truly inspiring to see everyone share, offer and learn from each other's experiences and passion towards a common goal led by Inspired By You. We entered as strangers and left with awe and appreciation for each other. Special thanks to Manvinder Randhawa for the opportunity and for taking the hard steps to get IBY to where it is today. Your dedication is truly inspiring. Shoutout to the amazing mentors and volunteers Nimisha Mathew, Nirav Desai, Rishana Nallur, and Shawn Hindmarsh (and to many others) for their contributions and commitment to the cause. Let's continue to inspire and support each other towards a brighter future! #InspiredByYou #CommunityLeadership #YouthSupport #Mentoring

'Partnership is living from the viewpoint of being in union with others, an entity, team or organization in the pursuit and fulfillment of a common purpose.' We got to witness this firsthand at the leadership workshop led by Jeanette Mundy. Inspired By You volunteers/mentors, South East Community Links leaders and youth practitioners came together to explore leadership and partnership. Jeanette guided us through deep conversations around vulnerability, courage, and fear. It was heartwarming and a privilege to hear from the from the incredible young women from SECL - the voice of the community. As the workshop concluded, each of our mentors left with renewed inspiration sparkling in their eyes. The SECL team's amazing support allowed us to fully embrace the journey. At IBY, we believe leadership emerges through collaborative experiences like these. A heartfelt thank you to Jeanette, SECL team and the IBY mentors for making this such a meaningful and memorable experience! We are especially grateful to Michelle Rowland and SECL for sponsoring and hosting this event. It has helped us further deepen the connection with our purpose. #inspiredbyyou #partnership #socialimpact Reshma Devi Neil Sequeira Andrew Kennard Vanessa Mitchell Jessica Comans Kanchan Kaur Chait D'Cruz Pooja Bathla Zita Ann Raja Nirav Desai Shawn Hindmarsh Nimisha Mathew Rishana Nallur Gagan Singh Amrisha Kanagaraj Kavindie Katuwandeniya Sundari Kannan Jessie Tang Blaire Race Raghavender (Ragu) Mantatikar

Earlier this month we ran the second in our series of workshops with Lyndale Secondary College.   Following our first session in March, which focused on building connections and increasing engagement between students and mentors, this session we divided the students into three groups: 1. Engineering-focused  2. Science-focused  3. Exploring STEM   Big thanks to Nirav Desai and Shawn Hindmarsh who mentored our engineering students, and to @Nishee Nattraj and Madan P. who mentored our science students. We were so lucky to also have Mamta Goyal and Gagan Singh run an interactive workshop series focused on opening up the minds of students and helping them to build confidence in their decision making.   We look forward to seeing this program through the full year! If you'd like to find out how you can help visit https://lnkd.in/gzA6VDMh IBY works with CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) students and connects them with mentors as role models. We aim to create awareness about possible STEM career pathways and inspire young people to make informed career choices in the future by strengthening their self-confidence and self-belief.   Madan P. 📣We're thrilled to share the incredible impact of our recent IBY sessions at Noble Park English Language School campuses, focusing on 'Embrace Your Identity'. 👉Here's a glimpse into the outcomes based on feedback from 23 students who participated: ✅98% of the students said the session motivated them to do well in their studies. ✅80% said the session helped them understand different (STEM) careers and jobs available. ✅80% said the session helped them learn about different pathways to STEM careers. This wouldn't have been possible without the support of the Victorian Government's Strategic Engagement Coordinator program. We’re aiming to not just dream of a world where every system is fair, but to take important steps towards making it a reality for students from migrant and refugee backgrounds. At SECL, we believe in the power of community, support, and shared dreams. Let's continue making a difference. #SECL #IBY Inspired By You

IBY recognises students from culturally diverse backgrounds have fewer role models and opportunities to achieve the careers of their dreams. They don't have the opportunity to network, or meet STEM professionals. IBY thinks having relatable mentors and role models in students’ lives is important, making sure none of them feels left behind. This is why we are so passionate about what we do. Since the inception of IBY, we have aimed to have mentors work with students consistently over a period of time, creating engagement and overall confidence. We recently started to achieve this goal by commencing a one year program with Lyndale Secondary College. Students were matched with our passionate and committed mentors currently working in STEM fields. The focus of our first session on March 14 was to establish connections and gather information to match students with mentors and designing future sessions tailored to their needs. The march session also focused on building connections, increasing engagement, and inspiring students' future academic and career paths through real-life experiences and projects. We split the students into groups and they got to ask the mentors questions. By the end of the sessions, the students had co-ownership for designing an ongoing program to suit their individual needs. It was fantastic to see the students so engaged, with most now feeling they have the freedom to choose the career they would like to pursue. A BIG thank you to our mentors Madan Purusothaman Nirav Desai Raghavender (Ragu) Mantatikar, and Akanksha Puli. We look forward to seeing this program through the full year! On March 1, IBY visited Westall secondary College to host a workshop on 'Why Engineering?'. Sixteen year 11 & 12 students enjoyed the interactive session hosted by mentor Lee from Microsoft and got to see engineering from a simple real life perspective. In the second half of the session, Lee shared his own story with the students about why he chose engineering as a career. We had fantastic feedback from the session, in fact 75% of the students said the session motivated them to do well in their studies and 85% said the session helped them understand about different Tech and Engineering jobs available.   Special thanks to Lee Marshall for sparking inspiration into those young minds brimming with potential. Interested in making a meaningful social impact on young people from disadvantaged communities and CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgrounds?   IBY is seeking volunteers and mentors to help deliver programs and workshops to school students, to equip them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to make a difference in their lives and their communities. A big thank you to our four mentors: Sahar from Microsoft, Sam and Rishana from Emerson, and Ragu, who recently visited Noble Park English Language School for an IBY workshop focusing on Personal Identity and networking with students. New migrant children are sent to this school for one year to learn the language , adapt to the culture and homework support etc., before they enter mainstream schools. We had about 10 students from mostly Afghan background, new migrant families, aged 14-15, and what a session it was! This is the target audience we had in mind when we started IBY, i.e. inspiring young people from multicultural backgrounds to dream big! It was heartwarming to see these students' eyes light up when they met with mentors they could relate to and were able to ask questions about how they achieved success in their careers. This was a perfect demonstration that with the right support and guidance, students can achieve greatness, break down barriers and feel empowered to create the future they deserve. 👩This International Women’s Day, we want to highlight our leading partnership with Inspired By You (IBY) which embraces the theme of “Inspire Inclusion”. Together we work with young culturally diverse women who don’t have access to career role models in Science, Technology, Engineering, Accounting and Mathematics (STEAM). Many young people in our communities are at a crossroads, making crucial decisions about their futures without access to inspirational and relatable role models or mentors to guide them. Together, with IBY, we're here to change that narrative! Our mission through this partnership is to create lasting connections, ignite inspiration, and foster life-changing outcomes. By connecting these young people with industry experts and professional mentors, we hope to open doors to opportunities and dreams that were once out of reach. A recent workshop satisfaction survey showed that almost 90% of IBY participants said that they were inspired to pursue their STEAM career dreams because of the stories shared by the mentors. This incredible journey is made possible by the Victorian Government through the Strategic Engagement Coordinator program. We’re aiming to not just dream of a world where every system is fair, but to take important steps towards making it a reality for students from migrant and refugee backgrounds. Because here at SECL, we believe that every person counts, and together, we can build a community where everyone has the support, connections, and inspiration they need to soar high into their bright futures. Let's make a difference, one connection at a time. ❤ #SECL #InspiredByYou #CommunitySupport #DiversityAndInclusion #youngwomen #IWD Victorian Government
