The proposed wells in this campaign will be drilled on 100% owned and operated leases within the Nemaha Project in Kansas, USA. Highlights HyTerra intends to start drilling operations early September 2024. Murfin Drilling Company has been selected as the drilling contractor for the Nemaha Project. Murfin Drilling Company was founded in 1926 and is one of the leading drilling companies in the USA Midwest, having drilled over 20,000 wells. HyTerra via its 100% owned and operated subsidiary HYT Operating LLC, has received a Permit to Drill from the Kansas Corporation Commission for the Blythe 13-20 well at the company’s fully-owned flagship Nemaha Project. The well has been sited around 1,400m east of the historic Scott-1 well drilled in 1982, which reported up to 56% Hydrogen in historic analyses. The Queensland government’s 2024-25 budget allocates $90 million to bolster the resources sector. This includes $4 million for the study and development of natural hydrogen. This funding supports the investigation into the viability and potential of natural hydrogen as a clean energy source. The support from Queensland’s government reflects a broader trend towards embracing innovative energy solutions such as natural hydrogen. In the USA, where the USA Federal administration is banking billions of dollars that clean hydrogen will help the United States reach its climate goals, research published in March by global intelligence firm Rystad Energy described the accelerating pursuit of naturally occurring hydrogen in the country as a “white gold rush” due to its potential to be a gamechanger in the clean energy transition.
