Griffith University extends its congratulations to the participants of the Australia Awards Capacity Building Program in Integrated River Basin Management Short Course. The program successfully concluded its final components this week with the completion of the Applied Learning Activities. The three-day online workshop allowed participants to consolidate their newfound knowledge while providing them with a valuable opportunity to showcase the projects developed throughout the course. The Australia Awards 'Human Resources Leadership for Future Work' Short Course funded by the Australian Government launched last week with participants coming together in Vientiane, Laos for the pre-course workshop. Twenty-five emerging leaders joined Dr Amie Shaw and Dr Ryan Gould for the 5 day Pre Course, opening with a welcome from Deputy Director General, Department of Planning, Ministry of Education and Sport Madam Daovieng Phongsavath. The program was packed with enriching experiences including an interactive site visit to Beerlao Brewery Company and a networking event with DFAT and Government officials, LAI representative's and Alumni from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts. Participants will travel to Australia in August for an intensive two-week visit, providing the opportunity to attend networking events, interactive panels, presentations and conferences with Human Resource experts. Participants from Nepal and Sri Lanka of the Australia Awards Capacity Building Program in Integrated River Basin Management Short Course spent the final week of their Australian visit travelling through Canberra, New South Wales and Victoria attending presentations on various water projects and their role in water allocation, flood and drought management and water monitoring. The group travelled to sites including CSIRO, Snowy Hydro Scheme, Jindabyne Dam and Hume Dam, providing valuable information that can be applied to future integrated river basin management on future projects.
