We currently have eight alternative protein manufacturers exporting to over 14 countries in Asia, one of Australia's top export markets. There's a big demand for alternative proteins as a future food source and with its strong focus on agricultural development in legumes, Victoria leads the way in the export of diverse protein ingredients supply. Tune in to the video featuring Food Frontier's CEO, Simon Eassom, as he shares how we've been working with Agriculture Victoria through the Pathways to Export initiative, forming partnerships between government and suppliers and manufacturers to offer even better export opportunities for the sector. https://lnkd.in/gXfVke76 #AlternativeProteins #Export #ExportsMarkets #Opportunities #PathwaysToExport #PlantProtein

The results are in! We developed a scorecard that shows Australia ranked bottom of the table for government support of alternative proteins against 10 other countries. Australia falls dramatically short across the 10 key parameters considered crucial for the industry's growth, scoring just 1.5 compared to Canada and Singapore’s score of 7.5. While countries like Canada, Singapore, Israel and the US forge ahead with strong national strategies, funding, and regulatory frameworks, Australia is evidently missing the mark. Without committing to actions critical to the success of the alternative proteins industry and pending the approval of cultivated meat or precision fermentation dairy products, Australia risks falling behind globally and jeopardising potential health, environmental, and economic benefits. Dr Simon Eassom, CEO of Food Frontier, said, “This comparison clearly indicates where Australia is lagging and should serve as a wake-up call to the opportunities available...With the right government support, Australia can thrive in this sector too and cement its own place as a leader in food and agricultural production.” Take a closer look at the results: https://lnkd.in/gVJGz9u4 Read our media release: https://lnkd.in/gj7wNAP4 #AlternativeProteins #Innovation #GovernmentSupport #Food #PlantBased

The Victoria State Government (Victorian Government) identified cultivated meat as a key economic opportunity for the Australian state in a recent inquiry. 🐖🧫🇦🇺 The independent inquiry – which focused on pig welfare in Victoria – listed cultivated meat as its first recommendation. The report highlighted the technology’s potential to provide ethical and environmentally sustainable food to Victorians. Cellular Agriculture Australia: “It’s encouraging to see independent parliamentary documents such as this championing cultivated meat as a potential solution to current and emerging challenges facing our food system. Government recognition and support would be invaluable in building a thriving cultivated meat and broader cellular agriculture industry in Australia.” Full story here: https://lnkd.in/gjDx2r9g 👈 #foodinnovation #cultivatedmeat #alternativeprotein #cellculture #animalwelfare

You might have noticed some recent media stories linking plant-based meat alternatives to a higher incidence of heart disease. Interestingly though, this is despite these alternatives only making up 0.2% of the total food intake examined in the study being reported on. Our Head of Research Strategy broke down the study's findings to look at what the evidence actually shows. #PlantBased #Food #Health #ResearchFindings
