  • Last week, some of our Sydney Entain crew visited Thread Together - a charity focused on channeling excess fashion to those that need it. A big thank you to those that got involved; sorting, building and packing boxes of clothing that are given to refugees, DV shelters, those without homes, and disaster survivors (to name a few). To the team who attended - you have helped members of the community receive dignity and care, thank you. • The Ladbrokes Racing Club's first ever Western Australia-trained thoroughbred metropolitan runner in WA got off to the best possible start on Saturday. The Simon Miller-trained 2-year-old, Horcrux, was on debut at Belmont over 1200 metres and duly delivered for Ladbrokes Racing Club members around the country and for the 30 LRC members on track to celebrate his success. Horcrux's win means the Club has now had winners at metropolitan level in five states after victories at Rosehill (NSW), Sandown (VIC), Eagle Farm (QLD) and Morphettville (SA) since the Club was launched in 2023. Horcrux has plenty of options ahead of him, with several possible paths that he could go down for his next start, but regardless of what's next, the team can reflect on "what a day, what a thrill" as Simon told club members in his trainer's update following the race. • Spreading Awareness during Gambling Harm Awareness Week!    It is Gambling Harm Awareness Week in Queensland with the theme of “Safer gambling: We all have a role to play”. At Entain, we are always striving to foster a safer gambling environment for our customers.    To kickstart the week, our dedicated Safer Gambling Team organised a morning tea event in our Brisbane office where we welcomed special guests from Relationships Australia (Qld) and heard from a lived experienced speaker, Jake, who provided valuable insight into his experience with gambling harm. In the session, Mark O'Sullivan, Safer Gambling Manager, spoke about Entain’s recent initiatives and placed emphasis on our holistic company approach to safer gambling and commitment to providing the best available tools to our clients to help minimise gambling harm. Recently, we have released the Safer Gambling Bet Limit Tool. The Bet Stake Limit tool allows customers to limit the maximum amount of money that can be spent on each bet. This tool continues to grow our Punter Assist offering, promotes safer gambling, and helps customers manage their bet stake amount.

  • The hunt is on for the best sprinter in New Zealand next summer, and Entain Australia & New Zealand has a huge incentive for the short-course specialist that comes out on top. As part of the brand-new $500,000 Champion Sprint Series, Entain will offer the winner of the series the opportunity to run in the Trackside Media slot in the 2025 running of The Quokka at Ascot Racecourse, Perth in April. With A$5 million on offer in The Quokka, this would serve as an extremely appetising grand final for the leading sprinter through the New Zealand spring and summer. In a boost for trans-Tasman engagement, four Australian races are included in the list of races where sprinters can accumulate points for their share of a $500,000 bonus scheme. Perth’s own Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes on 30 November headlines the four Australian races, with the Group 3 George Moore Stakes (Brisbane), Listed Christmas Stakes (Melbourne) and Listed Canterbury Sprint (Sydney) also offering point-scoring opportunities. • The Future Starts Now for harness racing in New Zealand, and Entain Australia and New Zealand is right behind this proud industry with the major changes announced by Harness Racing New Zealand at Addington Raceway today (5 July). An increase of $10 million in total stakes is the headline for the launch for the 2024/25 season, which begins on 1 August. This stakes increase will filter through all levels of racing, with 75% of the funding allocated to everyday racing. Alongside new heats and finals formats and stakes boosts to feature racing, two slot races for 3-year-old pacers and trotters on Show Day are brand-new additions to the calendar.  Entain has contributed to the stakes increases alongside HRNZ, the NZ Sires' Stakes Board and TAB NZ. Entain is also proud to play its part in showcasing harness racing through Trackside’s Friday Night Lights, which officially launched today. We're building a brand around Kiwi harness racing's big night by modernising the coverage with high-end production values alongside a world-class presentation team. • A significant day for Entain Australia & New Zealand as we underlined our commitment to the Australian racing industry, with Ladbrokes Australia extending its principal partnership agreement with Tasracing Pty Ltd for a further five years. The new agreement, effective from 1 August 2024, includes a significantly upgraded base sponsorship fee, a commitment to promote Tasmanian racing on Ladbrokes content and social channels, and a capital expenditure contribution to help improve on-course facilities at Spreyton and Elwick. Tasracing CEO Andrew Jenkins GAICD described the partnership, which will see Ladbrokes maintain naming rights to the majority of feature races and all courses across all three codes as a “big win” for Tasmanian racing. “The continued investment into Tasmanian racing by Entain through its premier Ladbrokes brand is evidence of the industry’s prospects in our state,” he said. “It means Ladbrokes’ relationship with the Tasmanian racing industry will extend over 10 years. “While Tasracing will be able to broaden our promotion of Tasmanian racing directly to our audiences, Ladbrokes will also promote our product to its significant database in the highly competitive national wagering space.” Entain Group executive director Stakeholder Engagement Karl deKroo said Ladbrokes was thrilled to continue its association with racing in Tasmania. “Ladbrokes is proudly a racing-led business, and we believe strongly in helping to build and sustain the industry through our unique approach to marketing and content,” he said. “The Tasmanian racing industry has had its challenges, but we are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder as its major partner and together we look forward to a period of stability and growth. “Racing has a very proud history and heritage in Tasmania. It has consistently punched above it weight and we look forward to working with Tasracing, the respective Clubs and other stakeholders to continue to grow racing, build the fan base, and improve outcomes for participants across all three codes.”   #partnerships #racing #Ladbrokes #Tasracing
