Australia’s manufacturing future is a crucial conversation and one EMVision is committed to furthering as we pursue the manufacturing of our world-first emu™ portable brain imaging devices onshore. Our CEO Scott Kirkland recently caught up with the Financial Times, touching on why critical steps in the manufacturing process need to be close to home. This control — particularly when developing medical devices — is pivotal to driving innovation, quality and ensuring a company’s success. It’s heartening to see some of the initiatives from Ed Husic MP office as the industry pushes to fulfil Australia’s economic potential as a heavyweight in important sectors. We’re excited to announce a new partnership with EMVision Medical Devices . EMVision has come on board as a Major Sponsor of National Stroke Week, 5-11 August 2024. EMVision, along with Stroke Foundation, are also partners in The Stroke Golden Hour research project. The Australian Stroke Alliance project is pioneering the latest in pre-hospital stroke diagnosis and care. As part of the Stroke Golden Hour project, lightweight brain scanners that are more portable, meaning they can be put widely into ambulances on the roads and even in the air, are being developed and tested. This will allow earlier diagnosis and treatment to those who have a stroke, reducing disability and saving lives. Novel neuroimaging devices from EMVision Medical Devices will help to substantially speed up stroke diagnosis and treatment, by bringing brain-scanning to the patient. NSW Health has provided development assistance for these world-first brain-scanning devices via a Medical Devices Fund grant from the Office For Health and Medical Research. “Globally, there are around 15 million strokes a year,” says Scott Kirkland, Co-Founder and CEO of EMVision Medical Devices. “Only about one in ten receive treatment. The limitations of conventional scanning can lead to a delay in access and diagnosis in the event of a stroke. After treatment and intervention, they are not devices that can be used for frequent bedside monitoring to keep a close eye on the patient. In both cases, urgent brain imaging is required before the correct triage, transfer, treatment or intervention decision can be made.” Learn more about how EMVision are solving these challenges: https://lnkd.in/gexQK-Xy
