Construction
Elevating LGBTQ+ talent and creating change in the property and construction industry. Supported by allies 🏳️🌈
About us
We focus on helping LGBTQ+ people in the property and construction industry be their best and to thrive. Through mentoring, Site based initiatives, employment assistance, networking and industry wide education, we aim to connect with not just the LGBTQ+ community, but also people from outside. We will listen, learn, educate and engage. Because if we want to achieve equality, we need everyone to come onboard for the journey. Forget big business tokenism and politics, we come from construction sites and get s**t done!

May 17th 1990: The World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases. It is why we celebrate and reclaim this day as IDAHOBIT. We have made huge progress, and there is still more to be done 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ 🌈 #idahobit #pride #dei #lgbtq #humanrights

Representing the property and construction industry at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is always a fun filled honour! Hear are our 2024 highlights #pride #inclusion #lgbtq #sydney #property #construction

Why we march: Mardi Gras is about showcasing the property and construction industry’s large LGBTQ+ contingent, filled with allies. We are open to all, a place where friendships are formed, you can find yourself, be yourself, push yourself, but most importantly have fun! Our float contained over 200 colour ribbons which had messages from the community telling their dreams of what the future of construction looked like: equal, caring, open to all, a place to be your best self! Thank you to all 74 of you who danced, clapped, spun and high-5’ed up Oxford St! A huge thank you to our organisers on the day and for the many weeks before: Captains Anna James-New and Andrew Smith And creatives who make this float happen: Leah Cattarin John Stuart Caldwell (Jc) Jackson Carr Todd D.
