We are excited to celebrate opportunities like this one.    Following the acceptance of his first ever paper experience, Brendan looks forward to presenting at the renowned CIGRE Paris Session 2024 - a leading global event for power system expertise.    📃 THE PAPER:  ⚡ STUDY COMMITTEE: C4 - Power System Technical Performance  ⚡ PREFERENTIAL SUBJECT: PS1 - Power System Dynamic Analysis in the Energy Transition: Challenges, Opportunities and Advances  ⚡ TITLE: "Large scale grid forming BESS replaces synchronous generation enabling high renewable penetration & low system load in Australia’s major northern grid"    The paper discusses the experiences from the generator connection process and applying grid-forming (GFM) technology in high renewable energy penetration networks. APD Engineering extends its congratulations to the Government of Western Australia on the delivery of the 14.5km METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension. https://lnkd.in/g6xW_cD3 We are proud to have played a crucial role in providing essential commissioning support for the power supply options on this newly extended Yanchep rail line. APD’s expert Team, comprising of Protection, Field and Design Engineers were at the forefront, ensuring seamless operations and safety across this significant infrastructure project. Our contribution included: ⚡ Testing and commissioning of the new 132kV/25kV Bay at Nowergup Substation; ⚡ Conducting thorough fault investigations during the energisation process; ⚡ Collaborating closely with key stakeholders such as the Public Transport Authority, Western Power and our principal contractor Downer, with a steadfast commitment to safety and excellence. As part of this mammoth undertaking, APD supported EnergyAustralia in the following areas to achieve this milestone in record time: ⚡ Feasibility studies and optimum connection option evaluation; ⚡ Engagement with NSP for Preliminary and Detailed Enquiry Responses; ⚡ Detailed design and electrical studies; ⚡ OEM selection and model review; ⚡ Grid connection studies and supporting EnergyAustralia in achieving the 5.3.4A letter from AEMO/Endeavour Energy; ⚡ Preparation of registration packages and negotiation for successful AEMO registration; ⚡ On site Hold Point testing, analysis and reporting to gain AEMO/Endeavour Energy approval; ⚡ Continued R2 model validation work.
