Last week, Brendan, Katie, Mark and Patrick attended #beef2024 in Rockhampton. In a first for AGDATA, we not only had our own Phoenix by AGDATA stand but a section on the AgForce Queensland stand. This provided us with a unique position to engage with current customers, potential new customers and explore networking and collaboration opportunities with other businesses working in the agricultural industry. Last Sunday, Katie and Patrick attended day two of our clients, Susie and Bryant Usher's, inaugural Heart Summit event at Eastwell Farms in Kin Kin, QLD. Attendees heard from a range of speakers on topics including biological farming, the benefits of reliable water and fence infrastructure, why regeneratively farmed produce is better for your body, the benefits of African cattle breeds, and from previous Freckle Farm owners Deb McLucas and Rob Bauman on their regenerative farming journey. Attendees also enjoyed a tour of Eastwell Farms to see their Nguni cattle in the paddocks and a look through their gourmet mushroom production areas. Food during the event was catered by local chef Matt Golinski, using produce from his own farm and Nguni meat and mushrooms from Eastwell Farms. It was a fantastic opportunity to visit one of our client's and see their operation in person, as well as the chance to speak with other farmers who had travelled from as far away as South Australia for the two day event. #phoenixbyagdata #ngunibeef #eastwellfarms #regenerativefarming

Farm Succession Planning is garnering significant interest, and understandably so. Whether you're currently navigating the process, just starting out, or only just contemplating it, addressing it directly rather than postponing it is crucial. In our latest blog post, titled "Nurturing Tomorrow's Future: Tips for Successful Farm Succession Planning", we explore key considerations for effective farm succession planning. We also glean valuable insights from Andrew Rice, a Phoenix by AGDATA customer, who has firsthand experience in navigating the farm succession planning journey. Furthermore, Andrew also assists his own clients in this endeavour through his consulting business. Andrew's top three tips: 👉 Communication. Talk openly with other family members about plans and ensure the approach has support from all family members. 👉 Allow Sufficient Time. The process can take many years. Rushing through too quickly often has disastrous outcomes. 👉 Don't Outsource All Aspects. There are benefits in retaining ownership and control over the process. Outsourcing can be very expensive, and done too quickly, reduces the ownership of the process and outcomes and does not support the ongoing succession process (review and subsequent generations).
