It is always difficult to say goodbye to a favorite restaurant, especially one that’s been around for a while. Here’s the latest round of restaurant closures around the city.

The Best Sandwich Shop Serves Its Final Sub May 26

Atlanta chef Shaun Doty's tiny sandwich shop, the Best Sandwich Shop, announced over Memorial Day weekend that Sunday, May 26, was its last day. In an Instagram post, Doty says, “This decision was incredibly difficult. We have poured our hearts into this restaurant, and it has been very rewarding to be the go-to spot for so many in the neighborhood.” The post also states that the space at 863 Ponce de Leon Ave NE will go to a “prominent local operator.”

Punk Foodie Shuts Down Ponce City Market Stall May 13

Pop-up incubator Punk Foodie closed its Ponce City Market stall after six months in business. Founder Sam Flemming announced the decision on Rough Draft Atlanta. He wrote, “... it’s been a blast over the last 6 months or so with well over 50 chefs popping up to serve up an almost an equal number of cuisines. With that being said, we at Punk Foodie have decided to end the stall experiment and put our focus on other formats to achieve our mission.”

Snackboxe Bistro Closes Its Doraville Location May 11

Laotian restaurant Snackboxe Bistro will close its Doraville location but keep the Duluth restaurant running. Chef Thip Athakhanh opened the Doraville Snackboxe Bistro in 2018 to much acclaim, serving fare like chargrilled lemongrass ribs and shrimp ceviche with spicy chili lime fish sauce.
