We are thrilled to announce that during the International Moon Day Main Event in Harbin, China, the establishment of the Innovative University Consortium for Moon Village 2050 has been unveiled! This groundbreaking consortium initially includes 29 leading Chinese universities. The Moon Village Association (MVA) is dedicated to expanding this initiative globally and warmly invites universities from around the world to join this pioneering effort. Celebrating International Moon Day in North East Nigeria! 🇳🇬 I am very happy to share that we had a successful event in the North East geopolitical zone, in celebration of the International Moon Day! The event was a wonderful opportunity to inspire young minds in Adamawa State, and educate them about space (lunar) exploration. I was particularly thrilled to see the enthusiasm and excitement among the students. The students' eagerness to learn, and their brilliant question and answers were truly impressive! A big thank you to the sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible and memorable! Particularly, to: - Phemotron Systems, for sponsoring the event in selected states across all six geopolitical zones in Nigeria, including the North East geopolitical zone! Excited having been part of the "International Moon Day" on Saturday, 20.07.2024. 🌔 The 4h-event took place in China 🇨🇳, with many online speakers from all over the world, like UN/UNOOSA, USA 🇺🇲 , India 🇮🇳, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, Japan 🇯🇵 and... me from Germany 🇩🇪, being online speaker in Panel 2 (see link below, slot from 3:21:00 on). My involvement was on "LUNAR HORIZONS: The Economic Implications of Lunar Exploration and Utilisation", together with Nasr Alsahaaf, Gongling Sun and Satoru Kurosu, smartly moderated by Zhao Chenchen. My messages: - There are challenges and opportunities, also huge for SME supplier industry, - high ambitions by ESA - SME importance for Germany, - contributions also by countries like Romania, - different budget- and decision-horizons between continents, - more peace on Earth would leave more money for Lunar explorations, - different thinking between politicians of continents (one see risks, other see opportuunities) - infrastructure and staff is key for synergies between science and commercial exploitation, - global collaboration and interdependencies by joint equipment contributions foster global peace. - United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) must as a major role for moderating the guidelines for each explorer onto the moon. Great news from Beijing 🇨🇳: 📝 Yesterday, on June 17th, the Moon Village Association has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL) for cooperation in the context of the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS)! 🚀 I couldn't personally make it to the signing due to teaching commitments, but it was a pleasure catching up with some of our Board members in Beijing, including MVA President Giuseppe Reibaldi, Jan Kolář, Yuguang Yang, and Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu. 🎆 They are off to Harbin today for the Main Event of the International Moon Day, hosted by Harbin Institute of Technology and the Chinese Society of Astronautics on July 20th!
