We propose a new realisation of light Dirac neutrino mass and dark matter (DM) within the framework of a non-Abelian discrete flavour symmetry based on $A_4$ group. In addition to $A_4$, we also consider a $Z_2$ and an unbroken global lepton number symmetry $U(1)_L$ to keep unwanted terms away while guaranteeing the Dirac nature of light neutrinos. The field content, their transformations and flavon vacuum alignments are chosen in such a way that the type-I Dirac seesaw generates only one light Dirac neutrino mass while the other two masses arise from scotogenic contributions at one-loop. This leads to the Dirac scoto-seesaw framework, a generalisation of the widely studied scoto-seesaw model to Dirac neutrinos. The symmetry breaking of $A_4$ leaves a remnant $\mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry responsible for stabilising DM. Dirac nature of light neutrinos introduces additional relativistic degrees of freedom $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ within reach of cosmic microwave background experiments.

We propose a novel scenario where thermally under-abundant dark matter (DM) can be revived with a first-order phase transition (FOPT). In the absence of FOPT, thermal DM abundance remains suppressed due to efficient annihilation via mediators. A FOPT brings sharp change to the mass of the mediator at the nucleation temperature such that the final DM relic agrees with observations. We implement this idea in a scenario where DM interacts via a mediator whose initial mass is of same order as DM mass keeping DM annihilation either in allowed or forbidden ballpark. As the mediator mass decreases sharply at the nucleation temperature of the FOPT, the frozen out DM suffers further depletion while keeping final relic within observed limits. DM with sizeable interactions with a light mediator can also give rise to the required self-interactions necessary to solve the small scale structure issues of cold dark matter. While the mechanism is generic to any thermal DM mass, choosing it in the GeV ballpark forces the FOPT to MeV scale which predicts stochastic gravitational waves with nano-Hz frequencies within reach of pulsar timing array (PTA) based experiments like NANOGrav. The existence of light scalar mediator and its mixing with the Higgs keep the scenario verifiable at different particle physics experiments.

We study the possibility of generating dark matter (DM) and baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU) simultaneously in an asymmetric DM framework which also alleviates the small-scale structure issues of cold DM (CDM). While thermal relic of such self-interacting DM (SIDM) remains under-abundant due to efficient annihilation into light mediators, a non-zero asymmetry in dark sector can lead to survival of the required DM in the universe. The existence of a light mediator leads to the required self-interactions of DM at small scales while keeping DM properties similar to CDM at large scales. It also ensures that the symmetric DM component annihilates away, leaving the asymmetric part, in the spirit of cogenesis. The particle physics implementation is done in canonical seesaw models of light neutrino mass, connecting it to the origin of DM and BAU. In particular, we consider type-I and type-III seesaw origin of neutrino mass for simplicity and minimality of the field content. We show that the desired self-interactions and relic of DM together with BAU while satisfying relevant constraints lead to strict limits on DM mass $\mathcal{O}(\rm GeV) \lesssim M_{\rm DM} \lesssim460 $ GeV. In spite of being high scale seesaw, the models remain verifiable at different experiments including direct, indirect DM search as well as colliders.

In this article, we investigate the stochastic gravitational waves (GWs) spectrum, resulting from the emission of gravitons through bremsstrahlung, in the decay of particles produced by Hawking radiation. Although particle decays inevitably entail the emission of graviton due to bremsstrahlung, the associated decay width is notably suppressed due to the Planck scale suppression in the coupling of matter fields to gravitons. Consequently, the relic abundance of such GWs constituted of these gravitons undergoes a corresponding reduction. However, we demonstrate that super-heavy particles, reaching masses as high as Planck scale, can emerge naturally in the Hawking radiation of evaporating primordial black holes (PBHs) and can compensate for this suppression. In addition, we also discuss the stochastic gravitational waves constituted out of the gravitons directly radiated from such evaporating PBHs. When the super-heavy particle decays promptly after its production, then the corresponding GW spectrum remains subdominant to the one arising from direct PBH evaporation. However, if this particle is long-lived and decays after PBH evaporation, then the resulting GWs produced in these two processes have two distinct spectra with their peaks at extremely high frequencies, providing avenues for proposed ultra-high frequency gravitational wave detectors. We also show that such gravitational waves contribute significantly to substantial dark radiation, which can be probed with the enhanced sensitivity of future experiments.

We propose a minimal scenario for light thermal dark matter (DM) in sub-GeV to GeV ballpark by incorporating a scalar singlet DM in a type-I seesaw scenario extended by an additional Higgs doublet $φ_2$. The latter permits efficient annihilation of light scalar DM into leptonic final states including right-handed neutrinos (RHN). While DM annihilation into charged lepton final states is kept either suppressed or in a kinematically forbidden ballpark to avoid cosmic microwave background (CMB) bounds, the RHN, active neutrino final states remain safe from such bounds even if they are allowed kinematically. We discuss the interplay of forbidden and non-forbidden channels in generating light thermal DM relic while incorporating constraints from cosmology as well as laboratory experiments. The model can also explain the anomalous magnetic moment of muon, W-mass anomaly and saturate experimental bounds on charged lepton flavour violation and DM direct detection while offering tantalising detection prospects of the lightest RHN, the mass of which is kept in the same ballpark as DM.

In this paper, we put forward a connection between the self-interacting dark matter and the Dirac nature of neutrinos. Our exploration involves a $Z_4 \otimes Z_4'$ discrete symmetry, wherein the Dirac neutrino mass is produced through a type-I seesaw mechanism. This symmetry not only contributes to the generation of the Dirac neutrino mass but also facilitates the realization of self-interacting dark matter with a light mediator that can alleviate small-scale anomalies of the $Λ{\rm CDM}$ while being consistent with the latter at large scales, as suggested by astrophysical observations. Thus the stability of the DM and Dirac nature of neutrinos are shown to stem from the same underlying symmetry. The model also features additional relativistic degrees of freedom $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ of either thermal or non-thermal origin, within the reach of cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiment providing a complementary probe in addition to the detection prospects of DM.

We propose a hybrid scoto-seesaw model based on the $A_4$ non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetry. Light neutrino masses come from the tree-level type-I seesaw mechanism and from the one-loop scotogenic contribution accommodating viable dark matter candidates responsible for observed relic abundance of dark matter (DM). Respectively, both these contributions restore the atmospheric and solar neutrino mass scales. With only one right-handed neutrino, the model features specific predictions with the normal ordering of light neutrino masses, the lightest neutrino being massless, and only one relevant CP Majorana phase. The flavor symmetric setup helps us to realize the TM$_1$ mixing scheme with concrete correlations and constraints on the mixing angles and associated CP phases. The framework predicts the atmospheric mixing angle to be in the upper octant with specific ranges $0.531 (0.580) \leq \sin^2θ_{23}\leq 0.544 (0.595)$ and the Dirac CP phase is restricted within the range $\pm(1.44-1.12)$ radian. The Majorana phase is also tightly constrained with a range of $0.82-0.95$ and $1.58-1.67$ radian, which is otherwise unconstrained from neutrino oscillations. Strict predictions on the Majorana phases also yield an accurate prediction for the effective mass parameter for neutrinoless double beta within the range of $1.61-3.85$ meV. The model offers a rich phenomenology regarding DM relic density and direct search constraints, and the fermionic DM scenario has been discussed in detail, estimating its possible connection with the neutrino sector. As an example of the model studies at colliders, the SM Higgs in the diphoton decay channel is examined. The model predicts strictly vanishing $τ\to eγ$, $τ\rightarrow 3e$ decays and testable signals by MEG-II and SINDRUM/Mu3e experiments for the $μ\to e γ$ and $μ\to 3 e$ decays, respectively.

The same can, however, be explained by incorporating one additional scalar doublet whose only role is to contribute radiatively to diphoton decay modes of the light, neutral scalars. Due to the scotogenic extension, the model remains consistent with the observed properties of light neutrinos and dark matter in the Universe.

In this work, we explore the intriguing possibility of connecting self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) with the recently observed exceptionally bright and long-duration Gamma Ray Burst (GRB221009A). The proposed minimal scenario involves a light scalar mediator, simultaneously enabling dark matter (DM) self-interaction and explaining the observed very high energy (VHE) photons from GRB221009A reported by LHAASO's data. The scalar's mixing with the standard model (SM) Higgs boson allows for its production at the GRB site, which will then propagate escaping attenuation by the extra-galactic background light (EBL). These scalars, if highly boosted, have the potential to explain LHAASO's data. Moreover, the same mixing also facilitates DM-nucleon or DM-electron scatterings at terrestrial detectors, linking SIDM phenomenology to the GRB221009A events. This manuscript presents the parameter space meeting all constraints and offers an exciting opportunity to explore SIDM in future direct search experiments using insights from the GRB observation.

We propose a simple model in the type-III seesaw framework to explain the neutrino mass, asymmetric dark matter, baryon asymmetry of the Universe, and the recently reported W-mass anomaly by CDF-II collaboration. We extend the standard model with a vector-like singlet lepton ($χ$) and a hypercharge zero scalar triplet ($Δ$) in addition to three hypercharge zero triplet fermions($Σ_i~,i=1,2,3$). A $Z_2$ symmetry is imposed under which $χ$ and $Δ$ are odd, while all other particles are even. As a result, the lightest $Z_2$ odd particle $χ$ behaves as a candidate of dark matter. In the early Universe, the CP-violating out-of-equilibrium decay of heavy triplet fermions to the Standard Model lepton ($L$) and Higgs ($H$) generate a net lepton asymmetry, while that of triplet fermions to $χ$ and $Δ$ generate a net asymmetric dark matter. The lepton asymmetry is converted to the required baryon asymmetry of the Universe via the electroweak sphalerons, while the asymmetry in $χ$ remains as a dark matter relic that we observe today. We introduce a singlet scalar $φ$, with mass $m_φ< m_χ$, which not only assists to deplete the symmetric component of $χ$ through the annihilation process: $\barχ χ\to φφ$ but also paves a path to detect dark matter $χ$ at direct search experiments through $φ-H$ mixing. The $Z_2$ symmetry is broken softly resulting in an unstable asymmetric dark matter with mass ranging from a few MeV to a few tens of GeV. The softly broken $Z_2$ symmetry also induces a vacuum expectation value (vev) of $Δ$ due to which the asymmetry in $Δ$ disappears. Moreover, the vev of $Δ$ enhances the W-boson mass as reported by CDF-II collaboration with $7σ$ statistical significance, while keeping the $Z$-boson mass intact.

We present two models where the familiar leptonic symmetry $L_e-L_μ-L_τ$ is a gauge symmetry. We show how anomaly cancellation constrains the allowed theories, with one of them requiring a fourth sequential chiral standard model fermion generation and a second one with three generations, requiring gauging of $(L_e-L_μ-L_τ)-(B_1-B_2-B_3)$ with $B_a$ representing the baryon number of the $a$th generation quarks. Unlike global $L_e-L_μ-L_τ$ models which always leads to inverted mass hierarchy for neutrinos, the gauged version can lead to normal hierarchy. We show how to construct realistic models in both the cases and discuss the dark matter candidate in both. In our model, the breaking of $U(1)_{L_e-L_μ-L_τ}$ is responsible for neutrino mass via type-I mechanism whereas the real part of $U(1)_{L_e-L_μ-L_τ}$ breaking scalar field (called $φ$ here) plays the role of freeze-in dark matter candidate. Since $φ$ is unstable, for it to qualify as dark matter, its lifetime must be larger than the age of the Universe, implying that the relic of $φ$ is generated through freeze-in mechanism and its mass must be less than an MeV. We also discuss the possibility of explaining both muon and electron $(g-2)$ while being consistent with the dark matter relic density and lifetime constraints.

Light dark matter (DM) in the GeV ballpark faces weaker constraint from direct detection experiments. If such DM also has sufficient self-interactions due to a light mediator, it can alleviate the small-scale problems of the cold dark matter (CDM) paradigm while being consistent with the latter at large scales, as suggested by astrophysical observations. However, generating correct thermal relic for such light DM is challenging. While GeV scale CDM typically leads to thermal overproduction due to the absence of sufficient annihilation channels, self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) typically has under-abundant thermal relic due to its large annihilation rates into mediator particles. In this letter, we propose a minimal realisation of GeV scale SIDM with correct thermal relic, where one of the three singlet fermions, responsible for seesaw origin of light neutrino masses, assists in generating correct SIDM relic density via freeze-out. The setup thereby encompasses astrophysical as well as cosmological aspects of light DM while simultaneously providing a solution to the origin of light neutrino mass. Due to such connection to several frontiers, there exist exciting discovery prospects in terms of direct and indirect search of DM, laboratory and cosmology based dark photon signatures and effective light neutrino mass.

We study various holographic pure and mixed state entanglement measures in the confined/deconfined phases of a bottom-up AdS/QCD model in the presence of a background magnetic field. We analyse the entanglement entropy, entanglement wedge cross-section, mutual information, and entanglement negativity and investigate how a background magnetic field leaves its imprints on the entanglement structure of these measures. Due to the anisotropy introduced by the magnetic field, we find that the behaviour of these measures depends nontrivially on the relative orientation of the strip with respect to the field. In the confining phase, the entanglement entropy and negativity undergo a phase transition at the same critical strip length, the magnitude of which increases/decreases for parallel/perpendicular orientation of the magnetic field. The entanglement wedge cross-section similarly displays discontinuous behaviour each time a phase transition between different entangling surfaces occurs, while further exhibiting anisotropic features with a magnetic field. We further find that the magnetic field also introduces substantial changes in the entanglement measures of the deconfined phase, however, these changes remain qualitatively similar for all orientations of the magnetic field. We further study the inequality involving entanglement wedge and mutual information and find that the former always exceeds half of the latter everywhere in the parameter space of the confined/deconfined phases.

We consider the holographic dual of a quark, anti-quark pair and investigate its entropy beyond the deconfinement phase transition in terms of interquark distance, temperature and magnetic field. We obtain a clear magnetic field dependence in the strongly decreasing entropy near deconfinement and in the entropy variation for growing interquark separation. We uncover various supporting evidences for inverse magnetic catalysis. The emergent entropic force is found to become stronger with magnetic field, promoting the quarkonium dissociation. We also probe the dynamical dissociation of the quarkonium state, finding a faster dissociation with magnetic field. We propose a novel and minimal framework where a light scalar field can give rise to dark matter (DM) self-interactions, while enhancing the CP symmetry required for successful baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis route. For demonstration purpose we choose to work in a scotogenic seesaw scenario where the lightest among the right handed neutrinos (RHN), introduced for generating light neutrino masses radiatively, play the role of DM while the heavier two can play non-trivial roles in generating DM relic as well as lepton asymmetry. While dark matter self-interactions mediated by an additional singlet scalar can alleviate the small scale issues of cold dark matter paradigm, the same scalar can give rise to new one-loop decay processes of heavy RHN into standard model leptons providing an enhanced contribution to CP asymmetry, even with sub-TeV scale RHN mass. The thermally under-abundant relic of DM due to large annihilation rates into its light mediator receives a late non-thermal contribution from a heavier RHN. With only five new particles involved in the scotogenic seesaw, each having non-trivial roles in generating DM relic and baryon asymmetry, the model can explain non-zero neutrino mass while being verifiable at different experiments related to DM direct detection, flavour physics and colliders. The mechanism we demonstrated here by using a scotogenic seesaw scenario is also applicable to other models.

Self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) with a light mediator is a promising scenario to alleviate the small-scale problems of the cold dark matter paradigm while being consistent with the latter at large scales, as suggested by astrophysical observations. This, however, leads to an under-abundant SIDM relic due to large annihilation rates into mediator particles, often requiring an extension of the simplest thermal or non-thermal relic generation mechanism. In this work, we consider a singlet-doublet fermion dark matter scenario where the singlet fermion with a light scalar mediator gives rise to the velocity-dependent dark matter self-interaction through a Yukawa type attractive potential. The doublet fermion, by virtue of its tiny mixing with the singlet, can be long-lived and can provide a non-thermal contribution to the singlet relic at late epochs, filling the deficit in the thermal relic of singlet SIDM. The light scalar mediator, due to its mixing with the standard model Higgs, paves the path for detecting such SIDM at terrestrial laboratories leading to constraints on model parameters from CRESST-III and XENON1T experiments. Enlarging the dark sector particles by two more singlet fermions and one scalar doublet, all odd under an unbroken $\mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry can also explain non-zero neutrino mass in scotogenic fashion.

Irrespective of thermal or non-thermal production of such a DM, its final relic remains under-abundant due to efficient annihilation rates of DM into light mediators by virtue of large self-interaction coupling. We then show that a feeble portal of DM-SM interaction via RHN offers a possibility to fill the relic deficit of DM via the late decay of RHN. As RHN also arises naturally in seesaw models explaining the origin of light neutrino masses, we outline two UV complete realizations of the minimal setup in terms of scotogenic and gauged B-L frameworks where connection to neutrino mass and other phenomenology like complementary discovery prospects are discussed.

We study an extension of the minimal gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ model in order to explain the anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron simultaneously. Presence of an additional scalar doublet $η$ and an in-built $Z_2$ symmetry under which the right handed singlet fermions and $η$ are odd, leads to light neutrino mass in scotogenic fashion along with a stable dark matter candidate. In spite of the possibility of having positive and negative contributions to $(g-2)$ from vector boson and charged scalar loops respectively, the minimal scotogenic $L_μ-L_τ$ model can not explain muon and electron $(g-2)$ simultaneously while being consistent with other experimental bounds. We then extend the model with a vector like lepton doublet which not only leads to a chirally enhanced negative contribution to electron $(g-2)$ but also leads to the popular singlet-doublet fermion dark matter scenario. With this extension, the model can explain both electron and muon $(g-2)$ while being consistent with neutrino mass, dark matter and other direct search bounds. The model remains predictive at high energy experiments like collider as well as low energy experiments looking for charged lepton flavour violation, dark photon searches, in addition to future $(g-2)$ measurements.

The Standard Model (SM) has been extended with two vector-like fermion singlets charged under a dark $U(1)_D$ gauge symmetry to describe the dark sector. While the presence of light vector boson mediator leads to sufficient DM self-interactions to address the small scale issues of cold dark matter, the model with sub-GeV scale DM can explain the XENON1T excess via elastic scattering of boosted DM component with electrons at the detector. Strong annihilation of DM into the light mediator leads to a suppressed thermal relic. A hybrid setup of dark freeze-out and non-thermal contribution from the late decay of a scalar can lead to correct relic abundance. We fit our model with XENON1T data and also find the final parameter space consistent with self-interaction of DM, DM-electron scattering rate, as well as astrophysical and cosmological observations. A tiny parameter space consistent with all these constraints and requirements can be further scrutinized in near-future experiments.

In an endeavor to explain the light neutrino masses and dark matter (DM) simultaneously, we study a gauged $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ extension of the standard model (SM). The neutrino masses are generated through a variant of type-II seesaw mechanism in which one of the scalar triplets has a mass in a scale that is accessible at the present generation colliders. Three SM singlet right chiral fermions $χ_{iR}$($i=e,μ,τ$) with $\rm B-L$ charges -4, -4, +5 are invoked to cancel the $\rm B-L$ gauge anomalies and the lightest one among these three fermions becomes a viable DM candidate as their stability is guaranteed by a remnant $\mathcal Z_2$ symmetry to which $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ gauge symmetry gets spontaneously broken. Interestingly in this scenario, the neutrino mass and the co-annihilation of DM are interlinked through the breaking of $U(1)_{\rm B-L}$ symmetry. Apart from giving rise to the observed neutrino mass and dark matter abundance, the model also predicts exciting signals at the colliders. Especially we see a significant enhancement in the production cross-section of the TeV scale doubly charged scalar in presence of the $Z_{\rm BL}$ gauge boson. We discuss all the relevant constraints on model parameters from observed DM abundance and null detection of DM at direct and indirect search experiments as well as the constraints on the $\rm B-L$ gauge boson from recent colliders.

We show that the same neutral gauge boson responsible for generating the required muon $(g-2)$ can also mediate interactions between electron and dark fermions boosted by dark matter annihilation. The required DM annihilation rate into dark fermion require a hybrid setup of thermal and non-thermal mechanisms to generate DM relic density. The tightly constrained parameter space from all requirements remain sensitive to ongoing and near future experiments, keeping the scenario very predictive.

For the top-down models, we consider wrapped $D3$ and $D4$ branes gravity solutions whereas, for the bottom-up confining model, the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity solution is considered. We study entanglement entropy, mutual information, entanglement wedge cross-section and entanglement negativity for the strip subsystems and find model independent features of these entanglement measures in all confining theories. The entanglement negativity and entropy exhibit a phase transition at the same critical strip length $L_{crit}$, at which the order of these measures changes from $\mathcal{O}(N^2)$ to $\mathcal{O}(N^0)$. The entanglement wedge cross-section similarly shows an order change at $L_{crit}$ and exhibits a discontinuous behaviour each time a phase transition between different entangling surfaces occur. We further test the inequality involving mutual information and entanglement wedge cross-section, and find that the latter always exceeds half of the former.

We refine an earlier introduced 5-dimensional gravity solution capable of holographically capturing several qualitative aspects of (lattice) QCD in a strong magnetic background such as the anisotropic behaviour of the string tension, inverse catalysis at the level of the deconfinement transition or sensitivity of the entanglement entropy to the latter. Here, we consistently modify our solution of the considered Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system to not only overcome an unphysical flattening at large distances in the quark-antiquark potential plaguing earlier work, but also to encapsulate inverse catalysis for the chiral transition in the probe approximation. This brings our dynamical holographic QCD model yet again closer to a stage at which it can be used to predict magnetic QCD quantities not directly computable via lattice techniques.

Motivated by the recently reported excess of electron recoil events by the XENON1T experiment, we propose low scale seesaw scenarios for light neutrino masses within $U(1)_X$ gauge extension of the standard model that also predicts stable as well as long lived dark sector particles. The new fields necessary for seesaw realisation as well as dark matter are charged under the $U(1)_X$ gauge symmetry in an anomaly free way. A singlet scalar field which effectively gives rise to lepton number violation and hence Majorana light neutrino masses either at tree or radiative level, also splits the dark matter field into two quasi-degenerate states. While sub-eV neutrino mass and non-zero dark matter mass splitting are related in this way, the phenomenology of sub-GeV scale inelastic dark matter can be very rich if the mass splitting is of keV scale. We show that for suitable parameter space, both the components with keV splitting can contribute to total dark matter density of the present universe, while opening up the possibility of the heavier dark matter candidate to undergo down-scattering with electrons. We check the parameter space of the model for both fermion and scalar inelastic dark matter candidates which can give rise to the XENON1T excess while being consistent with other phenomenological bounds. We also discuss the general scenario where mass splitting~$Δm$ between the two dark matter components can be larger, effectively giving rise to a single component dark matter scenario.

A Dirac fermion DM, naturally stabilised due to its chosen gauge charge, is split into two pseudo-Dirac mass eigenstates due to Majorana mass term induced by singlet scalar which also takes part in generating right handed neutrino masses responsible for type I seesaw origin of light neutrino masses. The inelastic down scattering of heavier DM component can give rise to the XENON1T excess for keV scale mass splitting with lighter DM component. We fit our model with XENON1T data and also find the final parameter space by using bounds from $(g-2)_μ$, DM relic, lifetime of heavier DM, inelastic DM-electron scattering rate, neutrino trident production rate as well as other flavour physics, astrophysical and cosmological observations. A tiny parameter space consistent with all these bounds and requirements will face further scrutiny in near future experiments operating at different frontiers.

The generation of neutrino masses occurs through a variant of type-II seesaw mechanism in which one of the scalar triplets lies at the TeV scale yet have a large dilepton coupling, which paves a path for probing this model at colliders. The gauging of $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry in a type-II seesaw framework introduces $B-L$ anomalies. Therefore we invoke three right handed neutrinos $ν_{R_{i}}$(i=1,2,3) with $B-L$ charges -4,-4,+5 to cancel the anomalies. We further show that the lightest one among the three right handed neutrinos can be a viable DM candidate. The stability of DM can be owed to a remnant $Z_2$ symmetry under which the right handed neutrinos are odd while all other particles are even. We then discuss the constraints on the model parameters from observed DM abundance and the search at direct detection experiments.

In earlier work, we studied holographic entanglement entropy in QCD phases using a dynamical Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity model whose dual boundary theory mimics essential features of QCD above and below deconfinement. The model although displays subtle differences compared to the standard QCD phases, however, it introduces a notion of temperature in the phase below the deconfinement critical temperature and captures quite well the entanglement and thermodynamic properties of QCD phases. Here we extend our analysis to study the mutual and $n$-partite information by considering $n$ strips with equal lengths and equal separations, and investigate how these quantities leave their imprints in holographic QCD phases. We discover a rich phase diagram with $n\geq2$ strips and the corresponding mutual and $n$-partite information shows rich structure, consistent with the thermodynamical transitions, while again revealing some subtleties. Below the deconfinement critical temperature, we find no dependence of the mutual and $n$-partite information on temperature and chemical potential.

In earlier work, we introduced a dynamical Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton model which mimics essential features of QCD (thermodynamics) below and above deconfinement. Although there are some subtle differences in the confining regime of our model as compared to the standard results, we do have a temperature dependent dual metric below $T_c$ as well, allowing for a richer and more realistic holographic modeling of the QCD phase structure. We now discuss how these features leave their imprints on the associated entanglement entropy when a strip region is introduced in the various phases. We uncover an even so rich structure in the entanglement entropy, consistent with the thermodynamical transitions, while again uncloaking some subtleties. Thanks to the temperature dependent confining geometry, we can present an original quantitative prediction for the phase diagram in terms of temperature and strip length, reporting a critical end point at the deconfinement temperature. We discuss the entropy carried by a quark-antiquark pair, in particular across the deconfinement transition. We therefore rely on a self-consistent solution to Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity, capable of mimicking essential features of QCD. In particular we introduce a novel model that still captures well the QCD confinement and deconfinement phases, while allowing the introduction of a temperature in a phase which resembles the confined phase, this thanks to it being dual to a small black hole. We pay due attention to some subtleties of such model. We confirm the lattice picture of a strong build-up of thermal entropy towards the critical temperature T_c, both coming from below or above T_c. We also include a chemical potential, confirming this entropic picture and we consider its effect on the speed of sound. Moreover, the temperature dependent confinement phase from the holography side allows us to find a string tension that does not vanish at T_c, a finding also supported by lattice QCD.

We use the entanglement entropy as a diagnostic tool in terms of the length of an entangling strip geometry. Due to the anisotropy introduced by the magnetic field, we find that the results depend on the orientation of the strip relative to the field. This allows to identify a richer, anisotropic, interplay between confinement and a magnetic field than possibly can be extracted from a more standard order parameter as, for example, the Polyakov loop expectation value.

The upcoming 50 kt magnetized iron calorimeter (ICAL) detector at the India-based Neutrino Observatory (INO) is designed to study the atmospheric neutrinos and antineutrinos separately over a wide range of energies and path lengths. The primary focus of this experiment is to explore the Earth matter effects by observing the energy and zenith angle dependence of the atmospheric neutrinos in the multi-GeV range. This study will be crucial to address some of the outstanding issues in neutrino oscillation physics, including the fundamental issue of neutrino mass hierarchy. In this document, we present the physics potential of the detector as obtained from realistic detector simulations. We describe the simulation framework, the neutrino interactions in the detector, and the expected response of the detector to particles traversing it. The ICAL detector can determine the energy and direction of the muons to a high precision, and in addition, its sensitivity to multi-GeV hadrons increases its physics reach substantially. Its charge identification capability, and hence its ability to distinguish neutrinos from antineutrinos, makes it an efficient detector for determining the neutrino mass hierarchy. In this report, we outline the analyses carried out for the determination of neutrino mass hierarchy and precision measurements of atmospheric neutrino mixing parameters at ICAL, and give the expected physics reach of the detector with 10 years of runtime. We also explore the potential of ICAL for probing new physics scenarios like CPT violation and the presence of magnetic monopoles.
