In this paper, we employ a general relativistic formalism and develop new theoretical tools that allow us to analytically express the mass and electric charge of the Reissner-Nordström black hole as well as its distance to a distant observer in terms of few directly observable quantities, such as the total frequency shift, aperture angle of the telescope, and redshift rapidity. Our analytic and concise formulas are valid on the midline, and the redshift rapidity is a relativistic invariant observable that represents the evolution of the frequency shift with respect to the proper time in the Reissner-Nordström spacetime. This procedure is applicable for particles undergoing circular motion around a spherically symmetric and electrically charged black hole, which is the case for accretion disks orbiting supermassive black holes hosted at the core of active galactic nuclei. Although this type of black hole is expected to be electrically neutral, our results provide a novel method to measure the electric charge of the Reissner-Nordström black hole, hence can shed some light on this claim. Besides, these results allow us to measure the mass of the black hole and its distance from the Earth, and we can employ the general formulas in black hole parameter estimation studies.

The redshift rapidity is also an observable relativistic invariant that represents the evolution of the frequency shift with respect to proper time in the Schwarzschild spacetime. We extract concise and elegant analytic formulas that allow us to disentangle mass and distance to black holes in the Schwarzschild background and estimate these parameters separately. This procedure is performed in a completely general relativistic way with the aim of improving the precision in measuring cosmic distances to astrophysical compact objects. Our exact formulas are valid on the midline and close to the line of sight, having direct astrophysical applications for megamaser systems, whereas the general relations can be employed in black hole parameter estimation studies.

In this work, we obtain an expression for the total observational frequency shift of photons emitted by massive geodesic particles circularly orbiting a black hole in a general spherically symmetric background. Our general relations are presented in terms of the metric components and their derivatives that characterize the black hole parameters. As a concrete example of this general relativistic approach, a special case is studied by applying the formalism to a nonsingular black hole conformally related to the Schwarzchild solution that possesses a length scale parameter $l$ and an integer parameter $N$ in addition to the black hole mass. Besides, we express the nonsingular black hole mass in terms of the observational redshift/blueshift. Finally, we investigate the effects of the free parameters of the conformal gravity theory on the observational frequency shift and compare results with those of the standard Schwarzschild black hole.

We extract the Hubble law by the frequency-shift considerations of test particles revolving the Kerr black hole in asymptotically de Sitter spacetime. To this end, we take into account massive geodesic particles circularly orbiting the Kerr-de Sitter black holes that emit redshifted photons towards a distant observer which is moving away from the emitter-black hole system. By considering this configuration, we obtain an expression for redshift in terms of the spacetime parameters, such as mass, angular momentum, and the cosmological constant. Then, we find the frequency shift of photons versus the Hubble constant with the help of some physically motivated approximations. Finally, some exact formulas for the Schwarzschild black hole mass and the Hubble constant in terms of the observational redshift of massive bodies circularly orbiting this black hole are extracted. Our results suggest a new independent general relativistic approach to obtaining the late-time Hubble constant in terms of observable quantities.

Aims. Our aim is to study the properties of super massive BHs at the centers of the selected AGNs by using a full general relativistic method that allows us to address the potential detection of relativistic effects within such astrophysical systems. Methods. In order to perform statistical estimations with publicly available observational data, we used a general relativistic model that describes BH rotation curves and further employed a Bayesian fitting method. Results. We estimated the mass-to-distance ratio of the aforementioned BHs, their position and the recessional redshifts of the host galaxies produced by both peculiar motion and cosmological expansion of the Universe. Finally, we calculated the gravitational redshift of the closest maser to the BH for each AGN. This gravitational redshift is a general relativistic effect produced by the gravitational field of the BH properly included in the modelling.

In this work, we elaborate on the development of a general relativistic formalism that allows one to analytically express the mass and spin parameters of the Kerr black hole in terms of observational data: the total redshift and blueshift of photons emitted by geodesic massive particles revolving the black hole and their orbital parameters. Thus, we present concise closed formulas for the mass and spin parameters of the Kerr black hole in terms of few directly observed quantities in the case of equatorial circular orbits either when the black hole is static or is moving with respect to a distant observer. Furthermore, we incorporate the gravitational dragging effect generated by the rotating nature of the Kerr black hole into the analysis and elucidate its non-trivial contribution to the expression for the light bending parameter and the frequency shifts of photons emitted by orbiting particles that renders simple symmetric expressions for the kinematic redshift and blueshift. We also incorporate the dependency of the frequency shift on the azimuthal angle, a fact that allows one to express the total redshift/blueshift along any point of the orbit of the revolving particle for the cases when the black hole is both static or moving with respect to us. These formulas allow one to compute the Kerr black hole parameters by applying this general relativistic formalism to astrophysical systems like the megamaser accretion disks orbiting supermassive black holes at the core of active galactic nuclei. Our results open a new window to implement parameter estimation studies to constrain black hole variables, and they can be generalized to black hole solutions beyond Einstein gravity.

By considering a small correction to the Maxwell field, we show that the resultant black hole solutions (also known as the asymptotically Reissner--Nordström black holes) undergo the reentrant phase transition and can have a novel phase behavior. We also show that such a small nonlinear correction of the Reissner--Nordström black holes has high effects on the phase structure of the solutions. It leads to a new classification in the canonical ensemble of extended phase space providing the values of the nonlinearity parameter $α$ being $α\lesseqqgtr 4q^{2}/7$. We shall study these three classes and investigate deviations from those of the standard Reissner--Nordström solutions. Interestingly, we find that there is the reentrant phase transition for $α<4q^{2}/7$, and for the case of $α=4q^{2}/7$ there is no phase transition below (at) the critical point. For the last case, one finds that small and large black holes are thermodynamically distinguishable for temperatures and pressures higher than the critical ones.

The recent reported gravitational wave detection motivates one to investigate the properties of different black hole models, especially their behavior under (axial) gravitational perturbation. Here, we study the quasinormal modes of black holes in Weyl gravity. We derive the master equation describing the quasinormal radiation by using a relation between the Schwarzschild-anti de Sitter black holes and Weyl solutions, and also the conformal invariance property of the Weyl action. It will be observed that the quasinormal mode spectra of the Weyl solutions deviate from those of the Schwarzschild black hole due to the presence of an additional linear $r$-term in the metric function. We also consider the evolution of the Maxwell field on the background spacetime and obtain the master equation of electromagnetic perturbations. Then, we use the WKB approximation and asymptotic iteration method to calculate the quasinormal frequencies. Finally, the time evolution of modes is studied through the time-domain integration of the master equation.

Considering the nearly extreme conformal-de Sitter black holes, in this paper, we obtain an exact relation for the quasinormal modes of scalar perturbations. As for stability criteria, we find a lower bound on the event horizon radius which is corresponding to an upper bound on the value of the quasinormal frequencies. In addition, we show that the asymptotic behavior of quasinormal modes gives highly damped modes which is important due to possible connection between their real part and the Barbero-Immirzi parameter. We also obtain the Lyapunov exponent and the angular velocity of unstable circular null geodesics. Finally, we examine the validity of the relation between calculated quasinormal modes and unstable circular null geodesics.

The solutions of $U(1)$ gauge-gravity coupling is one of the interesting models for analyzing the semi-classical nature of spacetime. In this regard, different well-known singular and nonsingular solutions have been taken into account. The paper at hand investigates the geometrical properties of the magnetic solutions by considering Maxwell and power Maxwell invariant (PMI) nonlinear electromagnetic fields in the context of massive gravity. These solutions are free of curvature singularity, but have a conic one which leads to presence of deficit/surplus angle. The emphasize is on modifications that these generalizations impose on deficit angle which determines the total geometrical structure of the solutions, hence, physical/gravitational properties. It will be shown that depending on the background spacetime (being anti de Sitter (AdS) or de Sitter (dS)), these generalizations present different effects and modify the total structure of the solutions differently.

Working in the extended phase space with regarding the cosmological constant as a pressure, we study the reentrant behavior of phase transition in the canonical ensemble. We show that these black holes enjoy a zeroth order intermediate-small black hole phase transition as well as a first order phase transition between small and large black holes for a narrow range of temperatures and pressures. We also find that the standard first order small-large black hole phase transition can modify into a zeroth order type. This zeroth order phase transition stands between the critical point and the first order phase transition region. This paper is devoted to investigate nonlinearly charged dilatonic black holes in the context of gravity's rainbow with two cases: I) by considering the usual entropy, II) in the presence of first order logarithmic correction of entropy. First, exact solutions of dilatonic Born-Infeld gravity with an energy dependent Liouville-type potential with black hole interpretation are obtained. Then, thermodynamic properties of the mentioned cases are studied, separately. It will be shown that although mass, entropy and heat capacity are modified due to the presence of first order correction, the temperature remains independent of it. Furthermore, it will be shown that divergencies of the heat capacity, hence phase transition points are also independent of first order correction whereas the stability conditions are highly sensitive to variation of the correction parameter. Except for the effects of first order correction, we will also draw a limit on values of the dilatonic parameter and show that it is possible to recognize AdS and dS thermodynamical behaviors for two specific branches of the dilatonic parameter. In addition, the effects of nonlinear electromagnetic field and energy functions on thermodynamical behavior of the solutions will be highlighted and dependency of critical behavior, on these generalizations will be investigated.

One of the fundamental open questions in cosmology is whether we can regard the universe evolution without singularity like a Big Bang or a Big Rip. This challenging subject stimulates one to regard a nonsingular universe in the far past with an arbitrarily large vacuum energy. Considering the high energy regime in the cosmic history, it is believed that Einstein gravity should be corrected to an effective energy dependent theory which could be acquired by gravity's rainbow. On the other hand, employing massive gravity provided us with solutions to some of the long standing fundamental problems of cosmology such as cosmological constant problem and self acceleration of the universe. Considering these aspects of gravity's rainbow and massive gravity, in this paper, we initiate studying FRW cosmology in the massive gravity's rainbow formalism. At first, we show that although massive gravity modifies the FRW cosmology, but it does not itself remove the big bang singularity. Then, we generalize the massive gravity to the case of energy dependent spacetime and find that massive gravity's rainbow can remove the early universe singularity. We bring together all the essential conditions for having a nonsingular universe and the effects of both gravity's rainbow and massive gravity generalizations on such criteria are determined.

Motivated by the violation of Lorentz invariancy in quantum gravity, we study black hole solutions in gravity's rainbow in context of Einstein gravity coupled with various models of nonlinear electrodynamics. We regard an energy dependent spacetime and obtain related metric functions and electric fields. We show that there is an essential singularity at the origin which is covered with an event horizon. We also compute the conserved and thermodynamical quantities and examine the validity of the first law of thermodynamics in the presence of rainbow functions. Finally, we investigate thermal stability conditions for these black hole solutions in context of canonical ensemble. We show that thermodynamical structure of the solutions depends on the choices of nonlinearity parameters, charge and energy functions.

Inspired by large applications of topological defects in describing different phenomena in physics, and considering the importance of three dimensional solutions in AdS/CFT correspondence, in this paper we obtain magnetic anti-de Sitter solutions of nonlinear electromagnetic fields. We take into account three classes of nonlinear electrodynamic models; first two classes are the well-known BornInfeld like models including logarithmic and exponential forms and third class is known as the power Maxwell invariant nonlinear electrodynamics. We investigate the effects of these nonlinear sources on three dimensional magnetic solutions. We show that these asymptotical AdS solutions do not have any curvature singularity and horizon. We also generalize the static metric to the case of rotating solutions and find that the value of the electric charge depends on the rotation parameter. Finally, we consider the quadratic Maxwell invariant as a correction of Maxwell theory and in other words, we investigate the effects of nonlinearity as a correction. We study the behavior of the deficit angle in presence of these theories of nonlinearity and compare them with each other. We also show that some cases with negative deficit angle exists which are representing objects with different geometrical structure. We also show that in case of the static only magnetic field exists whereas by boosting the metric to rotating one, electric field appear too.

Motivated by the energy representation of Riemannian metric, in this paper we study different approaches toward the geometrical concept of black hole thermodynamics. We investigate thermodynamical Ricci scalar of Weinhold, Ruppeiner and Quevedo metrics and show that their number and location of divergences do not coincide with phase transition points arisen from heat capacity. Next, we introduce a new metric to solve these problems. We show that the denominator of the Ricci scalar of the new metric contains terms which coincide with different types of phase transitions. We elaborate the effectiveness of the new metric and shortcomings of the previous metrics with some examples. Furthermore, we find a characteristic behavior of the new thermodynamical Ricci scalar which enables one to distinguish two types of phase transitions. In addition, we generalize the new metric for the cases of more than two extensive parameters and show that in these cases the divergencies of thermodynamical Ricci scalar coincide with phase transition points of the heat capacity.

Motivated by providing preliminary steps to understand the conception of quantum gravity, in this paper, we study the phase structure of a semiclassical gravitational system. We investigate the stability conditions and phase transition of charged black holes in massive gravity via canonical and geometrical thermodynamic approaches. We point out the effects of massive parameter on stability conditions of these black holes and show how massive coefficients affect the phase transition points of these black holes. We also study the effects of boundary topology on thermodynamical behavior of the system. In addition, we give some arguments regarding the role of higher dimensions and highlight the effect of the electric charge in thermodynamical behavior. Then, we extend our study to geometrical thermodynamic approach and show that it can be a successful method for studying the black hole phase transition. At last, by employing the relation between thermodynamical pressure and cosmological constant, critical behavior of the system and the effects of different parameters on critical values are investigated.

In this paper, we consider quadratic Maxwell invariant as a correction to the Maxwell theory and study thermodynamic behavior of the black holes in Einstein and Gauss-Bonnet gravities. We consider cosmological constant as a thermodynamic pressure to extend phase space. Next, we obtain critical values in case of variation of nonlinearity and Gauss-Bonnet parameters. Although the general thermodynamical behavior of the black hole solutions is the same as usual Van der Waals system, we show that in special case of the nonlinear electromagnetic field, there will be a turning point for the phase diagrams and usual Van der Waals is not observed. This theory of nonlinear electromagnetic field provides two critical horizon radii. We show that this unusual behavior of phase diagrams is due to existence of second critical horizon radius. It will be pointed out that the power of the gravity and nonlinearity of the matter field modify the critical values. We generalize the study by considering the effects of dimensionality on critical values and make comparisons between our models with their special sub classes. In addition, we examine the possibility of the existence of the reentrant phase transitions through two different methods.

In this paper, we obtain higher dimensional topological black hole solutions of Einstein-$Λ$ gravity in the presence of a class of nonlinear electrodynamics. First, we calculate the conserved and thermodynamic quantities of ($n+1$)-dimensional asymptotically flat solutions and show that they satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. Also, we investigate the stability of these solutions in the (grand) canonical ensemble. Second, we endow a global rotation to the static Ricci-flat solutions and calculate the conserved quantities of solutions by using the counterterm method. We obtain a Smarr-type formula for the mass as a function of the entropy, the angular momenta and the electric charge, and show that these quantities satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. Then, we perform a stability analysis of the rotating solutions both in the canonical and the grand canonical ensembles.
