Given the ubiquity of modularity in biological systems, module-level regulation analysis is vital for understanding biological systems across various levels and their dynamics. Current statistical analysis on biological modules predominantly focuses on either detecting the functional modules in biological networks or sub-group regression on the biological features without using the network data. This paper proposes a novel network-based neighborhood regression framework whose regression functions depend on both the global community-level information and local connectivity structures among entities. An efficient community-wise least square optimization approach is developed to uncover the strength of regulation among the network modules while enabling asymptotic inference. With random graph theory, we derive non-asymptotic estimation error bounds for the proposed estimator, achieving exact minimax optimality. Unlike the root-n consistency typical in canonical linear regression, our model exhibits linear consistency in the number of nodes n, highlighting the advantage of incorporating neighborhood information. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is further supported by extensive numerical experiments. Application to whole-exome sequencing and RNA-sequencing Autism datasets demonstrates the usage of the proposed method in identifying the association between the gene modules of genetic variations and the gene modules of genomic differential expressions.

Diffusion Models have exhibited substantial success in text-to-image generation. However, they often encounter challenges when dealing with complex and dense prompts that involve multiple objects, attribute binding, and long descriptions. This paper proposes a framework called \textbf{LLM4GEN}, which enhances the semantic understanding ability of text-to-image diffusion models by leveraging the semantic representation of Large Language Models (LLMs). Through a specially designed Cross-Adapter Module (CAM) that combines the original text features of text-to-image models with LLM features, LLM4GEN can be easily incorporated into various diffusion models as a plug-and-play component and enhances text-to-image generation. Additionally, to facilitate the complex and dense prompts semantic understanding, we develop a LAION-refined dataset, consisting of 1 million (M) text-image pairs with improved image descriptions. We also introduce DensePrompts which contains 7,000 dense prompts to provide a comprehensive evaluation for the text-to-image generation task. With just 10\% of the training data required by recent ELLA, LLM4GEN significantly improves the semantic alignment of SD1.5 and SDXL, demonstrating increases of 7.69\% and 9.60\% in color on T2I-CompBench, respectively. The extensive experiments on DensePrompts also demonstrate that LLM4GEN surpasses existing state-of-the-art models in terms of sample quality, image-text alignment, and human evaluation. As network data has become increasingly prevalent, a substantial amount of attention has been paid to the privacy issue in publishing network data. One of the critical challenges for data publishers is to preserve the topological structures of the original network while protecting sensitive information. In this paper, we propose a personalized edge flipping mechanism that allows data publishers to protect edge information based on each node's privacy preference. It can achieve differential privacy while preserving the community structure under the multi-layer degree-corrected stochastic block model after appropriately debiasing, and thus consistent community detection in the privatized multi-layer networks is achievable. Theoretically, we establish the consistency of community detection in the privatized multi-layer network and show that better privacy protection of edges can be obtained for a proportion of nodes while allowing other nodes to give up their privacy. Furthermore, the advantage of the proposed personalized edge-flipping mechanism is also supported by its numerical performance on various synthetic networks and a real-life multi-layer network.

Translation-tailored Large language models (LLMs) exhibit remarkable translation capabilities, even competing with supervised-trained commercial translation systems. However, off-target translation remains an unsolved problem, especially for low-resource languages, hindering us from developing accurate LLMs-based translation models. To mitigate the off-target translation problem and enhance the performance of LLMs on translation, recent works have either designed advanced prompting strategies to highlight the functionality of translation instructions or exploited the in-context learning ability of LLMs by feeding few-shot demonstrations. However, these methods essentially do not improve LLM's ability to follow translation instructions, especially the language direction information. In this work, we design a two-stage fine-tuning algorithm to improve the instruction-following ability (especially the translation direction) of LLMs. Specifically, we first tune LLMs with the maximum likelihood estimation loss on the translation dataset to elicit the basic translation capabilities. In the second stage, we construct instruction-conflicting samples by randomly replacing the translation directions with a wrong one within the instruction, and then introduce an extra unlikelihood loss to learn those samples. Experiments on IWSLT and WMT benchmarks upon the LLaMA model spanning 16 zero-shot directions show that, compared to the competitive baseline -- translation-finetuned LLama, our method could effectively reduce the off-target translation ratio (averagely -53.3\%), thus improving translation quality with average +5.7 SacreBLEU and +16.4 BLEURT. Analysis shows that our method could preserve the model's general task performance on AlpacaEval. Code and models will be released at \url{https://github.com/alphadl/LanguageAware_Tuning}.

Texts, widgets, and images on a UI page do not work separately. Instead, they are partitioned into groups to achieve certain interaction functions or visual information. Existing studies on UI elements grouping mainly focus on a specific single UI-related software engineering task, and their groups vary in appearance and function. In this case, we propose our semantic component groups that pack adjacent text and non-text elements with similar semantics. In contrast to those task-oriented grouping methods, our semantic component group can be adopted for multiple UI-related software tasks, such as retrieving UI perceptual groups, improving code structure for automatic UI-to-code generation, and generating accessibility data for screen readers. To recognize semantic component groups on a UI page, we propose a robust, deep learning-based vision detector, UISCGD, which extends the SOTA deformable-DETR by incorporating UI element color representation and a learned prior on group distribution. The model is trained on our UI screenshots dataset of 1988 mobile GUIs from more than 200 apps in both iOS and Android platforms. The evaluation shows that our UISCGD achieves 6.1\% better than the best baseline algorithm and 5.4 \% better than deformable-DETR in which it is based.

In the domain of large-scale software development, the demands for dynamic and multifaceted static code analysis exceed the capabilities of traditional tools. To bridge this gap, we present CodeFuse-Query, a system that redefines static code analysis through the fusion of Domain Optimized System Design and Logic Oriented Computation Design.
CodeFuse-Query reimagines code analysis as a data computation task, support scanning over 10 billion lines of code daily and more than 300 different tasks. It optimizes resource utilization, prioritizes data reusability, applies incremental code extraction, and introduces tasks types specially for Code Change, underscoring its domain-optimized design. The system's logic-oriented facet employs Datalog, utilizing a unique two-tiered schema, COREF, to convert source code into data facts. Through Godel, a distinctive language, CodeFuse-Query enables formulation of complex tasks as logical expressions, harnessing Datalog's declarative prowess.
This paper provides empirical evidence of CodeFuse-Query's transformative approach, demonstrating its robustness, scalability, and efficiency. We also highlight its real-world impact and diverse applications, emphasizing its potential to reshape the landscape of static code analysis in the context of large-scale software development.Furthermore, in the spirit of collaboration and advancing the field, our project is open-sourced and the repository is available for public access

An increasing number of electronics are directly embedded on the clothing to monitor human status (e.g., skeletal motion) or provide haptic feedback. A specific challenge to prototype and fabricate such a clothing is to design the wiring layout, while minimizing the intervention to human motion. We address this challenge by formulating the topological optimization problem on the clothing surface as a deformation-weighted Steiner tree problem on a 3D clothing mesh. Our method proposed an energy function for minimizing strain energy in the wiring area under different motions, regularized by its total length. We built the physical prototype to verify the effectiveness of our method and conducted user study with participants of both design experts and smart cloth users. On three types of commercial products of smart clothing, the optimized layout design reduced wire strain energy by an average of 77% among 248 actions compared to baseline design, and 18% over the expert design.

When translating UI design prototypes to code in industry, automatically generating code from design prototypes can expedite the development of applications and GUI iterations. However, in design prototypes without strict design specifications, UI components may be composed of fragmented elements. Grouping these fragmented elements can greatly improve the readability and maintainability of the generated code. Current methods employ a two-stage strategy that introduces hand-crafted rules to group fragmented elements. Unfortunately, the performance of these methods is not satisfying due to visually overlapped and tiny UI elements. In this study, we propose EGFE, a novel method for automatically End-to-end Grouping Fragmented Elements via UI sequence prediction. To facilitate the UI understanding, we innovatively construct a Transformer encoder to model the relationship between the UI elements with multi-modal representation learning. The evaluation on a dataset of 4606 UI prototypes collected from professional UI designers shows that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines in the precision (by 29.75\%), recall (by 31.07\%), and F1-score (by 30.39\%) at edit distance threshold of 4. In addition, we conduct an empirical study to assess the improvement of the generated front-end code. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method on a real software engineering application. Our end-to-end fragmented elements grouping method creates opportunities for improving UI-related software engineering tasks.

Traditional robot task planning methods face challenges when dealing with highly unstructured environments and complex tasks. We propose a task planning method that combines human expertise with an LLM and have designed an LLM prompt template, Think_Net_Prompt, with stronger expressive power to represent structured professional knowledge. We further propose a method to progressively decompose tasks and generate a task tree to reduce the planning volume for each task, and we have designed a strategy to decouple robot task planning. By dividing different planning entities and separating the task from the actual machine binding process, the task planning process becomes more flexible. Research results show that our method performs well in handling specified code formats, understanding the relationship between tasks and subtasks, and extracting parameters from text descriptions. However, there are also problems such as limited complexity of task logic handling, ambiguity in the quantity of parts and the precise location of assembly. Improving the precision of task description and cognitive structure can bring certain improvements. https://github.com/NOMIzy/Think_Net_Prompt

Hypergraph neural networks (HGNN) have recently become attractive and received significant attention due to their excellent performance in various domains. However, most existing HGNNs rely on first-order approximations of hypergraph connectivity patterns, which ignores important high-order information. To address this issue, we propose a novel adjacency-tensor-based \textbf{T}ensorized \textbf{H}ypergraph \textbf{N}eural \textbf{N}etwork (THNN). THNN is a faithful hypergraph modeling framework through high-order outer product feature message passing and is a natural tensor extension of the adjacency-matrix-based graph neural networks. The proposed THNN is equivalent to a high-order polynomial regression scheme, which enables THNN with the ability to efficiently extract high-order information from uniform hypergraphs. Moreover, in consideration of the exponential complexity of directly processing high-order outer product features, we propose using a partially symmetric CP decomposition approach to reduce model complexity to a linear degree. Additionally, we propose two simple yet effective extensions of our method for non-uniform hypergraphs commonly found in real-world applications. Results from experiments on two widely used {hypergraph datasets for 3-D visual object classification} show the model's promising performance.

Tensor Gaussian graphical models (GGMs), interpreting conditional independence structures within tensor data, have important applications in numerous areas. Yet, the available tensor data in one single study is often limited due to high acquisition costs. Although relevant studies can provide additional data, it remains an open question how to pool such heterogeneous data. In this paper, we propose a transfer learning framework for tensor GGMs, which takes full advantage of informative auxiliary domains even when non-informative auxiliary domains are present, benefiting from the carefully designed data-adaptive weights. Our theoretical analysis shows substantial improvement of estimation errors and variable selection consistency on the target domain under much relaxed conditions, by leveraging information from auxiliary domains. Extensive numerical experiments are conducted on both synthetic tensor graphs and a brain functional connectivity network data, which demonstrates the satisfactory performance of the proposed method.

Code generation aims to generate a code snippet automatically from natural language descriptions. Generally, the mainstream code generation methods rely on a large amount of paired training data, including both the natural language description and the code. However, in some domain-specific scenarios, building such a large paired corpus for code generation is difficult because there is no directly available pairing data, and a lot of effort is required to manually write the code descriptions to construct a high-quality training dataset. Due to the limited training data, the generation model cannot be well trained and is likely to be overfitting, making the model's performance unsatisfactory for real-world use. To this end, in this paper, we propose a task augmentation method that incorporates domain knowledge into code generation models through auxiliary tasks and a Subtoken-TranX model by extending the original TranX model to support subtoken-level code generation. To verify our proposed approach, we collect a real-world code generation dataset and conduct experiments on it. Our experimental results demonstrate that the subtoken-level TranX model outperforms the original TranX model and the Transformer model on our dataset, and the exact match accuracy of Subtoken-TranX improves significantly by 12.75% with the help of our task augmentation method. The model performance on several code categories has satisfied the requirements for application in industrial systems. Our proposed approach has been adopted by Alibaba's BizCook platform. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first domain code generation system adopted in industrial development environments.

While some work attempt to generate front-end code intelligently from UI screenshots, it may be more convenient to utilize UI design drafts in Sketch which is a popular UI design software, because we can access multimodal UI information directly such as layers type, position, size, and visual images. However, fragmented layers could degrade the code quality without being merged into a whole part if all of them are involved in the code generation. In this paper, we propose a pipeline to merge fragmented layers automatically. We first construct a graph representation for the layer tree of a UI draft and detect all fragmented layers based on the visual features and graph neural networks. Then a rule-based algorithm is designed to merge fragmented layers. Through experiments on a newly constructed dataset, our approach can retrieve most fragmented layers in UI design drafts, and achieve 87% accuracy in the detection task, and the post-processing algorithm is developed to cluster associative layers under simple and general circumstances.

We propose a decentralized NFT anti-theft mechanism called TokenPatronus, which supports the general ERC-721 standard and provide the holders with strong property protection. TokenPatronus contains pre-event protection, in-event interruption, and post-event replevin enhancements for the complete NFTs transactions stages. Four modules are designed to make up the decentralized anti-theft mechanism, including the decentralized access control (DAC), the decentralized risk management (DRM), the decentralized arbitration system (DAS) and the ERC-721G standard smart contract. With the fast-growing GUI development workload in the Internet industry, some work on intelligent methods attempted to generate maintainable front-end code from UI screenshots. It can be more suitable for utilizing UI design drafts that contain UI metadata. However, fragmented layers inevitably appear in the UI design drafts which greatly reduces the quality of code generation. None of the existing GUI automated techniques detects and merges the fragmented layers to improve the accessibility of generated code. In this paper, we propose UI Layers Merger (UILM), a vision-based method, which can automatically detect and merge fragmented layers into UI components. Our UILM contains Merging Area Detector (MAD) and a layers merging algorithm. MAD incorporates the boundary prior knowledge to accurately detect the boundaries of UI components. Then, the layers merging algorithm can search out the associated layers within the components' boundaries and merge them into a whole part. We present a dynamic data augmentation approach to boost the performance of MAD. We also construct a large-scale UI dataset for training the MAD and testing the performance of UILM. The experiment shows that the proposed method outperforms the best baseline regarding merging area detection and achieves a decent accuracy regarding layers merging.

Approximately 50% of development resources are devoted to UI development tasks [9]. Occupying a large proportion of development resources, developing icons can be a time-consuming task, because developers need to consider not only effective implementation methods but also easy-to-understand descriptions. In this paper, we present Auto-Icon+, an approach for automatically generating readable and efficient code for icons from design artifacts. According to our interviews to understand the gap between designers (icons are assembled from multiple components) and developers (icons as single images), we apply a heuristic clustering algorithm to compose the components into an icon image. We then propose an approach based on a deep learning model and computer vision methods to convert the composed icon image to fonts with descriptive labels, thereby reducing the laborious manual effort for developers and facilitating UI development. We quantitatively evaluate the quality of our method in the real world UI development environment and demonstrate that our method offers developers accurate, efficient, readable, and usable code for icon designs, in terms of saving 65.2% implementing time.

Most of the existing formation algorithms for multiagent systems are fully label-specified, i.e., the desired position for each agent in the formation is uniquely determined by its label, which would inevitably make the formation algorithms vulnerable to agent failures. To address this issue, in this paper, we propose a dynamic leader-follower approach to solving the line marching problem for a swarm of planar kinematic robots. In contrast to the existing results, the desired positions for the robots in the line are not fully label-specified, but determined in a dynamic way according to the current state of the robot swarm. By constantly forming a chain of leader-follower pairs, exact formation can be achieved by pairwise leader-following tracking. Since the order of the chain of leader-follower pairs is constantly updated, the proposed algorithm shows strong robustness against robot failures. Comprehensive numerical results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

Conventional network data has largely focused on pairwise interactions between two entities, yet multi-way interactions among multiple entities have been frequently observed in real-life hypergraph networks. In this article, we propose a novel method for detecting community structure in general hypergraph networks, uniform or non-uniform. The proposed method introduces a null vertex to augment a non-uniform hypergraph into a uniform multi-hypergraph, and then embeds the multi-hypergraph in a low-dimensional vector space such that vertices within the same community are close to each other. The resultant optimization task can be efficiently tackled by an alternative updating scheme. The asymptotic consistencies of the proposed method are established in terms of both community detection and hypergraph estimation, which are also supported by numerical experiments on some synthetic and real-life hypergraph networks.

The aim of this white paper is to discuss requirements and challenges and point out related, identified research topics that have to be solved in 6G. This white paper first provides a generic discussion, shows some facts and discusses targets set in international bodies related to rural and remote connectivity and digital divide. Then the paper digs into technical details, i.e., into a solutions space. Each technical section ends with a discussion and then highlights identified 6G challenges and research ideas as a list.

This paper presents BiPaR, a bilingual parallel novel-style machine reading comprehension (MRC) dataset, developed to support multilingual and cross-lingual reading comprehension. The biggest difference between BiPaR and existing reading comprehension datasets is that each triple (Passage, Question, Answer) in BiPaR is written parallelly in two languages. We collect 3,667 bilingual parallel paragraphs from Chinese and English novels, from which we construct 14,668 parallel question-answer pairs via crowdsourced workers following a strict quality control procedure. We analyze BiPaR in depth and find that BiPaR offers good diversification in prefixes of questions, answer types and relationships between questions and passages. We also observe that answering questions of novels requires reading comprehension skills of coreference resolution, multi-sentence reasoning, and understanding of implicit causality, etc. With BiPaR, we build monolingual, multilingual, and cross-lingual MRC baseline models. Even for the relatively simple monolingual MRC on this dataset, experiments show that a strong BERT baseline is over 30 points behind human in terms of both EM and F1 score, indicating that BiPaR provides a challenging testbed for monolingual, multilingual and cross-lingual MRC on novels. The dataset is available at https://multinlp.github.io/BiPaR/.

To investigate whether and to what extent central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) depicted on color fundus photographs can be assessed using deep learning technology. We collected a total of 2,504 fundus images acquired on different subjects. We verified the CSC status of these images using their corresponding optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. A total of 1,329 images depicted CSC. These images were preprocessed and normalized. This resulting dataset was randomly split into three parts in the ratio of 8:1:1 respectively for training, validation, and testing purposes. We used the deep learning architecture termed InceptionV3 to train the classifier. We performed nonparametric receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses to assess the capability of the developed algorithm to identify CSC. The Kappa coefficient between the two raters was 0.48 (p < 0.001), while the Kappa coefficients between the computer and the two raters were 0.59 (p < 0.001) and 0.33 (p < 0.05).Our experiments showed that the computer algorithm based on deep learning can assess CSC depicted on color fundus photographs in a relatively reliable and consistent way.

Objective: To validate and compare the performance of eight available deep learning architectures in grading the severity of glaucoma based on color fundus images. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively collected a dataset of 5978 fundus images and their glaucoma severities were annotated by the consensus of two experienced ophthalmologists. We preprocessed the images to generate global and local regions of interest (ROIs), namely the global field-of-view images and the local disc region images. We then divided the generated images into three independent sub-groups for training, validation, and testing purposes. With the datasets, eight convolutional neural networks (CNNs) (i.e., VGG16, VGG19, ResNet, DenseNet, InceptionV3, InceptionResNet, Xception, and NASNetMobile) were trained separately to grade glaucoma severity, and validated quantitatively using the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and the quadratic kappa score. Results: The CNNs, except VGG16 and VGG19, achieved average kappa scores of 80.36% and 78.22% when trained from scratch on global and local ROIs, and 85.29% and 82.72% when fine-tuned using the pre-trained weights, respectively. VGG16 and VGG19 achieved reasonable accuracy when trained from scratch, but they failed when using pre-trained weights for global and local ROIs. Among these CNNs, the DenseNet had the highest classification accuracy (i.e., 75.50%) based on pre-trained weights when using global ROIs, as compared to 65.50% when using local ROIs. Conclusion: The experiments demonstrated the feasibility of the deep learning technology in grading glaucoma severity. In particular, global field-of-view images contain relatively richer information that may be critical for glaucoma assessment, suggesting that we should use the entire field-of-view of a fundus image for training a deep learning network.
