The Simeis~147 nebula (S147), particularly well known for a spectacular net of ${\rm H}_α$-emitting filaments, is often considered one of the largest and oldest known supernova remnants in the Milky Way. Here, and in a companion paper, we present studies of X-ray emission from the S147 nebula using the data of SRG/eROSITA All-Sky Survey observations. In this paper, we argue that many inferred properties of the X-ray emitting gas are broadly consistent with a scenario of the supernova explosion in a low-density cavity, e.g. a wind-blown-bubble. This scenario assumes that a $\sim 20\,{\rm M_\odot}$ progenitor star has had small velocity with respect to the ambient ISM, so it stayed close to the center of a dense shell created during its Main Sequence evolution till the moment of the core-collapse explosion. The ejecta first propagate through the low-density cavity until they collide with the dense shell, and only then the reverse shock goes deeper into the ejecta and powers the observed X-ray emission of the nebula. The part of the remnant inside the dense shell remains non-radiative till now and, plausibly, in a state with $T_e<T_i$ and Non-Equilibrium Ionization (NEI). On the contrary, the forward shock becomes radiative immediately after entering the dense shell, and, being subject to instabilities, creates a characteristic "foamy" appearance of the nebula in ${\rm H}_α$ and radio emission.

The temperature was estimated from CH$_3$CCH lines, also observed with the IRAM-30m telescope, and from NH$_3$ lines, observed with the 100-m radio telescope in Effelsberg, as well as using the integrated intensity ratios of the $J=1-0$ H$^{13}$CN and HN$^{13}$C lines and their main isotopologues. Applying a non-LTE radiative transfer model with RADEX, the gas density and the molecular column densities were estimated. D/H ratios are $0.001-0.05$ for DCO$^{+}$, $0.001-0.02$ for DCN, $0.001-0.05$ for DNC and $0.02-0.4$ for NH$_{2}$D. The D/H ratios decrease with increasing temperature in the range of $\rm 20-40 \,K$ and slightly vary at densities $n(\rm H_2) \sim 10^4-10^6\, cm^{-3}$. The deuterium fraction of $\rm N_2H^{+}$ is $0.008-0.1$ at temperatures in the range of $\rm 20-25\, K$ and at a density of $\sim 10^5\, \rm cm^{-3}$. We also estimate relative abundances and find $ \sim 10^{-11}-10^{-9}$ for DCO$^{+}$ and DNC, $ \sim 10^{-11}-10^{-10}$ for $\rm N_2D^+$ and $ \sim 10^{-10}-10^{-8}$ for NH$_{2}$D. The relative abundances of these species decrease with increasing temperature. However, the DCN/H$_2$ ratio is almost constant ($\sim 10^{-10}$). The observational results agree with the predictions of chemical models (although in some cases there are significant differences).

We present an analysis of the dense gas structures in the immediate surroundings of the massive young stellar object (MYSO) W42-MME, using the high-resolution (0$''$.31$\times$0$''$.25) ALMA dust continuum and molecular line data. We performed a dendrogram analysis of H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ (4-3) line data to study multi-scale structures and their spatio-kinematic properties, and analyzed the fragmentation and dynamics of dense structures down to $\sim$2000 AU scale. Our results reveal 19 dense gas structures, out of which 12 are leaves and 7 are branches in dendrogram terminology. These structures exhibit transonic-supersonic gas motions (1$<\mathcal{M}<5$) with overvirial states ($α_{\rm vir}\geq2$). The non-thermal velocity dispersion-size relation ($σ_{\rm nt}-L$) of dendrogram structures shows a weak negative correlation, while the velocity dispersion across the sky ($δ\mathit{V_{\rm lsr}}$) correlates positively with structure size ($L$). Velocity structure function ($S_{2}(l)^{1/2}$) analysis of H$^{13}$CO$^{+}$ data reveals strong power-law dependencies with lag ($l$) up to a scale length of $\lesssim$ 6000 AU. The mass-size ($M-R$) relation of dendrogram structures shows a positive correlation with power-law index of 1.73$\pm$0.23, and the leaf L17 hosting W42-MME meets the mass-size conditions for massive star formation. Blue asymmetry is observed in the H$^{12}$CO$^{+}$ (4-3) line profiles of most of the leaves, indicating infall. Overall, our results observationally support the hierarchical and chaotic collapse scenario in the proximity of the MYSO W42-MME.

The temperature of the gas in the sources was estimated from the lines of CH$_{3}$CCH and from the transitions of the NH$_3$ molecule obtained during observations at the 100-m radio telescope in Effelsberg. As a result, a correlation between the integrated intensity ratios of the $J=1-0$ transitions of H$^{13}$CN and HN$^{13}$C and the kinetic temperature has been obtained. The obtained results allow us to propose the use of the intensity ratio H$^{13}$CN-HN$^{13}$C as a possible temperature indicator of interstellar clouds. We also compared the obtained estimates of the kinetic temperature with the dust temperature $T_{dust}$. As a result, no significant correlation was found.

The environment of S187, a nearby H II region (1.4$\pm$0.3 kpc), is analyzed. A surrounding shell has been studied in the H I line, molecular lines, and also in infrared and radio continua. We report the first evidence of a clumpy HI environment in its photodissociation region. A background radio galaxy enables the estimation of the properties of cold atomic gas. The estimated atomic mass fraction of the shell is $\sim$260~M$_{\odot}$, the median spin temperature is $\sim$50~K, the shell size is $\sim$4 pc with typical wall width around 0.2 pc. The atomic shell consists of $\sim$100 fragments. The fragment sizes correlate with mass with a power-law index of 2.39-2.50. The S187 shell has a complex kinematical structure, including the expanding quasi spherical layer, molecular envelope, an atomic sub-bubble inside the shell and two dense cores (S187~SE and S187~NE) at different stages of evolution. The atomic sub-bubble inside the shell is young, contains a Class II young stellar object and OH maser in the centre and the associated YSOs in the walls of the bubble. S187~SE and S187~NE have similar masses ($\sim$1200~M$_\odot$ and $\sim$900~M$_\odot$, respectively). S187~SE is embedded into the atomic shell and has a number of associated objects including high mass protostars, outflows, maser sources and other indicators of ongoing star formation. No YSOs inside S187~NE were detected, but indications of compression and heating by the H II region exist.

We present results of the investigations of the properties of the methanol $J_1 - J_0$ A$^{-+}$ line series motivated by the recent serendipitous detection of the maser emission in the $14_1 - 14_0$ A$^{-+}$ line at 349~GHz in S255IR-SMA1 soon after the accretion burst. The study includes further observations of several lines of this series in S255IR with the SMA, a mini-survey of methanol lines in the 0.8 mm range toward a sample of bright 6.7~GHz methanol maser sources with the IRAM-30m telescope, and theoretical modeling. We found that the maser component of the $14_1 - 14_0$ A$^{-+}$ line in S255IR decayed by more than order of magnitude in comparison with that in 2016. No clear sign of maser emission is observed in other lines of this series in the SMA observations except the $7_1 - 7_0$ A$^{-+}$ line where an additional bright component is detected at the velocity of the maser emission observed earlier in the $14_1 - 14_0$ A$^{-+}$ line. Our LVG model constrains the ranges of the physical parameters that matches the observed emission intensities. No obvious maser emission in the $J_1 - J_0$ A$^{-+}$ lines was detected in the mini-survey of the 6.7~GHz methanol maser sources, though one component in NGC7538 may represent a weak maser. In general, the maser effect in the $J_1 - J_0$ A$^{-+}$ lines may serve as a tracer of rather hot environments and in particular luminosity flaring events during high mass star formation.

This large ($\sim 4$ deg in diameter) SNR candidate lacks prominent counterparts in other bands. Here we report detection of radio emission from G116.6-26.1 in the LOFAR Two-metre Sky Survey (LoTTS-DR2). Radio images show a shell-like structure coincident with the X-ray boundary of the SNR. The measured surface brightness of radio emission from this SNR is very low. Extrapolation of the observed surface brightness to 1~GHz places G116.6-26.1 well below other objects in the $Σ-D$ diagram. We argue that the detected radio flux might be consistent with the minimal level expected in the van der Laan adiabatic compression model, provided that the volume emissivity of the halo gas in the LOFAR band is $\sim 10^{-42}\,{\rm Wm^{-3}Hz^{-1} sr^{-1}}$. If true, this SNR can be considered as a prototypical example of an evolved SNR in the Milky Way halo. In the X-ray and radio bands, such SNRs can be used as probes of thermal and non-thermal components constituting the Milky Way halo.

The ALMA 1.35 mm continuum map (resolution ~1") shows that W42-MME is embedded in one of the cores (i.e., MM1) located within a thermally supercritical filament-like feature (extent ~0.15 pc) containing three cores (mass ~1-4.4 Msun). Several dense/hot gas tracers are detected toward MM1, suggesting the presence of a hot molecular core with the gas temperature of ~38-220~K. The ALMA 865 micron continuum map (resolution ~0.3") reveals at least five continuum sources/peaks ("A-E") within a dusty envelope (extent ~9000 AU) toward MM1, where shocks are traced in the SiO(8-7) emission. The source "A" associated with W42-MME is seen almost at the center of the dusty envelope, and is surrounded by other continuum peaks. The ALMA CO(3-2) and SiO(8-7) line observations show the bipolar outflow extended below 10000 AU, which is driven by the source "A". The ALMA data hint the episodic ejections from W42-MME. A disk-like feature (extent ~2000 AU; mass ~1 Msun) with velocity gradients is investigated in the source "A" (dynamical mass ~9 Msun) using the ALMA H13CO+ emission, and is perpendicular to the CO outflow. A small-scale feature (below 3000 AU) probably heated by UV radiation from the O-type star is also investigated toward the source "A". Overall, W42-MME appears to gain mass from its disk and the dusty envelope.

We report an observational study of the Galactic HII region Sh 2-305/S305 using the [CII] 158 $μ$m line data, which are used to examine the gas dynamics and structure of photodissociation regions. The integrated [CII] emission map at [39.4, 49.5] km s$^{-1}$ spatially traces two shell-like structures (i.e., inner and outer neutral shells) having a total mass of $\sim$565 M$_\odot$. The inner neutral shell encompasses an O9.5V star at its centre and has a compact ring-like appearance. However, the outer shell is seen with more extended and diffuse [CII] emission, hosting an O8.5V star at its centre and surrounds the inner neutral shell. The velocity channel maps and position-velocity diagrams confirm the presence of a compact [CII] shell embedded in the diffuse outer shell, and both the shells seem to expand with $v_{\rm exp}\sim$1.3 km s$^{-1}$. The outer shell appears to be older than the inner shell, hinting that these shells are formed sequentially. The [CII] profiles are examined toward S305, which are either double-peaked or blue-skewed and have the brighter redshifted component. The redshifted and blueshifted components spatially trace the inner and outer neutral shell geometry, respectively. The ionized, neutral, and molecular zones in S305 are seen adjacent to one another around the O-type stars. The regularly spaced dense molecular and dust clumps (mass $\sim$10-10$^{3}$ M$_{\odot}$) are investigated around the neutral shells, which might have originated due to gravitational instability in the shell of collected materials.

Four cores MM1-4 are identified in the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) 1.3 mm continuum map (resolution $\sim$0.$"$8) toward G18.88MME, and are seen at the center of the emission structure (extent $\sim$0.3 pc $\times$ 0.2 pc) detected in the ALMA map. G18.88MME is embedded in the core MM1 (mass $\sim$13-18 M$_{\odot}$), where no radio continuum emission is detected. The molecular outflow centered at MM1 is investigated in the SiO(5-4), HC$_{3}$N(24-23) and $^{13}$CO(2-1) lines. The detection of HC$_{3}$N in the outflow is rare in MYSOs and indicates its very high density. The position-velocity diagrams display a fast narrow outflow (extent $\sim$28000 AU) and a slower wide-angle more extended outflow toward MM1, and both of these components show a transverse velocity gradient indicative of a possible rotation. All these observed features together make G18.88MME as a unique object for studying the unification of the jet-driven and wind-driven scenarios of molecular outflows in MYSOs.

We report a discovery of a new X-ray-selected supernova remnant (SNR) candidate SRGe~J0023+3625 = G116.6-26.1 found in the SRG/eROSITA all-sky survey. The source features a large angular extent ($\sim 4$ deg in diameter), nearly circular shape and X-ray spectrum dominated by emission lines of helium- and hydrogen-like oxygen. It lacks bright counterparts of similar extent at other wavelengths which could be unequivocally associated with it. Given the relatively high Galactic latitude of the source, $b\approx-26$ deg, we interpret these observational properties as an indication of the off-disk location of this SNR candidate. Namely, we propose that this object originated from a Type Ia supernova which exploded some 40 000 yr ago in the low density ($\sim 10^{-3}\,{\rm cm^{-3}}$) and hot ($\sim (1-2)\times10^6\,{\rm K}$) gas of the Milky Way halo at a distance of $\sim 3\,{\rm kpc}$ from the Sun. The low density of the halo gas implies that the cooling and collisional ionization equilibrium (CEI) timescales downstream of the forward shock are much longer than the age of the SNR. This results in a relatively soft spectrum, reflecting pre-shock ionization state of the gas, and strong boost in the plasma emissivity (compared to CEI) due to enhanced collisional excitation through the increased electron temperature. If confirmed, such a rare object would provide us with a unique "in situ" probe of physical conditions (density, temperature and metallicity) near the interface between the Milky Way's disk and the halo.

We present results of a multi-line study of the filamentary infrared dark cloud G351.78-0.54 in the 1.3 and 0.8 mm wavelength bands. The lines of the three isotopologues of carbon monoxide CO, N$_2$H$^+$, CH$_3$CCH and HNCO were observed. The aim was to study the general structure of the filamentary cloud, its fragmentation and physical parameters with the emphasis on properties of dense clumps in this cloud. Several dense clumps are identified from the N$_2$H$^+$ (3-2) data, their masses and virial parameters are determined using the C$^{18}$O (2-1) line. Temperatures of some clumps are estimated from the CH$_3$CCH and HNCO data. Almost all clumps appear to be gravitationally unstable. The density estimates obtained from the C$^{18}$O (3-2)/(2-1) and N$_2$H$^+$ (3-2)/(1-0) intensity ratios are in the range $n \sim (0.3-3)\times 10^5$ cm$^{-2}$. The HNCO emission is detected exclusively toward the first clump which contains the luminous IR source IRAS 17233-3606, and indicates an even higher density. It is observed in the outflow, too. The velocity shift of the higher excitation HNCO lines may indicate a movement of the hot core relative the surrounding medium. In some clumps there is a velocity shift $\sim 1$ km s$^{-1}$ between N$_2$H$^+$ (3-2) and CO isotopologues. The large widths of the N$_2$H$^+$ (3-2) line in the clumps indicate an increase of the velocity dispersion in their dense interiors, which may be related to the star formation process. The N$_2$H$^+$ abundance drops toward the luminous IR source.

We investigate at a high angular resolution the spatial and kinematic structure of the S255IR high mass star-forming region, which demonstrated recently the first disk-mediated accretion burst in the massive young stellar object. The observations were performed with ALMA in Band 7 at an angular resolution $ \sim 0.1^{\prime\prime}$, which corresponds to $ \sim 180 $ AU. The 0.9 mm continuum, C$^{34}$S(7-6) and CCH $N=4-3$ data show a presence of very narrow ($ \sim 1000 $ AU), very dense ($n\sim 10^7$ cm$^{-3}$) and warm filamentary structures in this area. At least some of them represent apparently dense walls around the high velocity molecular outflow with a wide opening angle from the S255IR-SMA1 core, which is associated with the NIRS3 YSO. This wide-angle outflow surrounds a narrow jet. At the ends of the molecular outflow there are shocks, traced in the SiO(8-7) emission. The SiO abundance there is enhanced by at least 3 orders of magnitude. The CO(3-2) and SiO(8-7) data show a collimated and extended high velocity outflow from another dense core in this area, SMA2. The outflow is bent and consists of a chain of knots, which may indicate periodic ejections possibly arising from a binary system consisting of low or intermediate mass protostars. The C$^{34}$S emission shows evidence of rotation of the parent core. Finally, we detected two new low mass compact cores in this area (designated as SMM1 and SMM2), which may represent prestellar objects.

We present new CO (13CO(1-0) and C18O(1-0)) and CS(2-1) line observations of an elongated filamentary structure (length ~30 pc) in the star-forming site S242, which were taken with the OSO-20m telescope. One filament's end hosts the S242 HII region, while the other end contains Planck cold clumps. Several sub-regions are identified in the filament, and are supersonic with Mach number of 2.7-4.0. The study of the dynamical states shows supercritical nature of the sub-regions (except central part), which could not be supported by a combination of thermal and turbulent motions. Young stellar objects are seen toward the entire filament, but more concentrated toward its ends. Dense molecular cores are observed mainly toward the filament ends, and are close to virial equilibrium. Position-velocity plots trace velocity gradients (~1 km/s/pc) toward both the ends. An oscillatory pattern in velocity is also observed toward the filament, indicating its fragmentation. The collapse timescale of the filament is computed to be ~3.5 Myr. Using the 13CO data, the structure function in velocity of the filament is found to be very similar as seen in the Musca cloud for lags ~1-3 pc, and deviates from the Larson's velocity-size relationship. The observed oscillatory pattern in the structure function at higher lags suggests the existence of large-scale and ordered velocity gradients as well as the fragmentation process through accretion along the filament. Considering all the observed results along with their uncertainties, the S242 filament is a very good example of the end-dominated collapse.

The results of a detailed analysis of SMA, VLA, and IRAM observations of the region of massive star formation S255N in CO(2---1), \nh, \nhh, \co and some other lines is presented. Combining interferometer and single-dish data has enabled a more detailed investigation of the gas kinematics in the moleclar core on various spatial scales. There are no signs of rotation or isotropic compression on the scale of the region as whole. The largest fragments of gas ($\approx$0.3 pc) are located near the boundary of the regions of ionized hydrogen S255 and S257. Some smaller-scale fragments are associated with protostellar clumps. The kinetic temperatures of these fragments lie in the range 10---80 K. A circumstellar torus with inner radius R$_{in}$ $\approx$ 8000 AU and outer radius R$_{out}$ 12 000 AU has been detected around the clump SMA1. The rotation profile indicates the existence of a central object with mass $\approx$ 8.5/ sin 2 (i) M$_\odot$ . SMA1 is resolved into two clumps, SMA1---NE and SMA1---SE, whose temperatures are $\approx$150 K and $\approx$25 K, respectively. To all appearances, the torus is involved in the accretion of surrounding gas onto the two protostellar clumps.

We present results of a high resolution study of the filamentary infrared dark cloud G192.76+00.10 in the S254-S258 OB complex in several molecular species tracing different physical conditions. These include three isotopologues of carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH$_3$), carbon monosulfide (CS). The aim of this work is to study the general structure and kinematics of the filamentary cloud, its fragmentation and physical parameters. The gas temperature is derived from the NH$_3 $ $(J,K) = (1,1), (2,2)$ and $^{12}$CO(2--1) lines and the $^{13}$CO(1--0), $^{13}$CO(2--1) emission is used to investigate the overall gas distribution and kinematics. Several dense clumps are identified from the CS(2--1) data. Values of the gas temperature lie in the ranges $10-35$ K, column density $N(\mathrm{H}_2)$ reaches the value 5.1 10$^{22}$ cm$^{-2}$. The width of the filament is of order 1 pc. The masses of the dense clumps range from $ \sim 30 $ M$_\odot$ to $ \sim 160 $ M$_\odot$. They appear to be gravitationally unstable. The molecular emission shows a gas dynamical coherence along the filament. The velocity pattern may indicate longitudinal collapse.

Five regions of massive star formation have been observed in various molecular lines in the frequency range $\sim 85-89$ GHz. The studied regions possess dense cores, which host young stellar objects. The physical parameters of the cores are estimated, including kinetic temperatures ($\sim 20-40$ K), sizes of the emitting regions ($\sim 0.1-0.6$ pc), and virial masses ($\sim 40-500 M_{\odot}$). Column densities and abundances of various molecules are calculated in the local thermodynamical equilibrium approximation. The core in 99.982+4.17, associated with the weakest IRAS source, is characterized by reduced molecular abundances. Molecular line widths decrease with increasing distance from the core centers ($b$). For $b\ga 0.1$~pc, the dependences $ΔV(b)$ are close to power laws ($\propto b^{-p}$), where $p$ varies from $\sim 0.2$ to $\sim 0.5$, depending on the object. In four cores, the asymmetries of the optically thick HCN(1--0) and HCO$^+$(1--0) lines indicate systematic motions along the line of sight: collapse in two cores and expansion in two others. Approximate estimates of the accretion rates in the collapsing cores indicate that the forming stars have masses exceeding the solar mass.

This paper describes outstanding issues in astrophysics and cosmology that can be solved by astronomical observations in a broad spectral range from far infrared to millimeter wavelengths. The discussed problems related to the formation of stars and planets, galaxies and the interstellar medium, studies of black holes and the development of the cosmological model can be addressed by the planned space observatory Millimetron (the "Spectr-M" project) equipped with a cooled 10-m mirror. Millimetron can operate both as a single-dish telescope and as a part of a space-ground interferometer with very long baseline.

Abstract:
Observations of distinct positions in Orion and W3 revealed ripples on the HCN(1-0), HCO^+(1-0) and CO(1-0) line profiles which can be result of emission of large number of unresolved thermal clumps in the beam that move with random velocities. The total number of such clumps are ~(0.4-4) 10^5 for the areas with linear sizes ~0.1-0.5 pc.

We have analyzed HCN(1-0) and CS(2-1) line profiles obtained with high signal-to-noise ratios toward distinct positions in three selected objects in order to search for small-scale structure in molecular cloud cores associated with regions of high-mass star formation. In some cases, ripples were detected in the line profiles, which could be due to the presence of a large number of unresolved small clumps in the telescope beam. The number of clumps for regions with linear scales of ~0.2-0.5 pc is determined using an analytical model and detailed calculations for a clumpy cloud model; this number varies in the range: ~2 10^4-3 10^5, depending on the source. The clump densities range from ~3 10^5-10^6 cm^{-3}, and the sizes and volume filling factors of the clumps are ~(1-3) 10^{-3} pc and ~0.03-0.12. The clumps are surrounded by inter-clump gas with densities not lower than ~(2-7) 10^4 cm^{-3}. The internal thermal energy of the gas in the model clumps is much higher than their gravitational energy. Their mean lifetimes can depend on the inter-clump collisional rates, and vary in the range ~10^4-10^5 yr. These structures are probably connected with density fluctuations due to turbulence in high-mass star-forming regions.

We present the results of an interferometric study of 38 millimeter-wave lines of CH3OH in the region around the water maser source W3(H2O) and a region extending about 30" to the south and west of the hydroxyl maser source W3(OH).
The methanol emitting region around W3(H2O) has an extent of 2.0" x 1.2" (4400 x 2600 AU). The density is of order 1.e7 cm-3, sufficient to thermalize most of the methanol lines. The kinetic temperature is approximately 140 K and the methanol fractional abundance greater than 1.e-6, indicative of a high degree of grain mantle evaporation. The W3(H2O) source contains sub-structure, with peaks corresponding to the TW source and Wyrowski's B/C, separated by 2500 AU in projection. The kinematics are consistent with these being distinct protostellar cores in a wide binary orbit and a dynamical mass for the region of a few tens of Mo.
The extended methanol emission to the southwest of W3(OH) is seen strongly only from the lowest excitation lines and from lines known elsewhere to be class I methanol masers, namely the 84.5 GHz 5(-1)-4(0)E and 95.2 GHz 8(0)-7(1)A+ lines. Within this region there are two compact clumps, which we denote as swA and swB, each about 15" (0.16 pc projected distance) away from W3(OH). Excitation analysis of these clumps indicates the presence of lines with inverted populations but only weak amplification. The sources swA and swB appear to have kinetic temperatures of order 50-100 K and densities of order 1.e5 - 1.e6 cm-3. The methanol fractional abundance for the warmer clump is of order 1.e-7, suggestive of partial grain mantle evaporation. The clumping occurs on mass scales of order 1 Mo.
