We investigate the dynamics and the phase-space evolution for the scalar nonmetricity cosmology with a Chameleon mechanism. In particular, we consider a spatially flat Friedmann--Lemaître--Robertson--Walker geometry and within the framework of scalar nonmetricity theory, we consider a generalization of the Brans-Dicke theory in nonmetricity gravity. Introducing a pressureless gas as the matter source, we also incorporate a coupling function responsible for the interaction. Our findings reveal that the choice of connection in nonmetricity gravity significantly impacts the interaction between the scalar field and the matter source. For one particular connection, we discover the absence of asymptotic solutions with a nontrivial interacting component. More precisely, in this scenario, the matter source does not directly interact with the scalar field; however, there is an interaction with the dynamical degrees of freedom provided by the connection.

The main aim of this work is to use a model-independent approach, along with late-time observational probes, to reconstruct the dark energy (DE) equation of state $w_{\rm DE}(z)$. Our analysis showed that, for a late time universe, $w_{\rm DE}$ deviates from being a constant but in contrast exhibits an oscillatory behavior, hence both quintessence ($w_{\rm DE}> -1$) and phantom ($w_{\rm DE} < -1$) regimes are equally allowed. In order to portray this oscillatory behavior, we explored various parametrizations for the equation of state and identified the closest approximation based on the goodness of fit with the data and the Bayesian evidence analysis. Our findings indicated that while all considered oscillating DE parametrizations provided a better fit to the data, compared to the cosmological constant, they are penalized in the Bayesian evidence analysis due to the additional free parameters. Overall, the present article demonstrates that in the low redshift regime, the equation of state of the DE prefers to be dynamical and oscillating. We anticipate that future cosmological probes will take a stand in this direction.

The Brans-Dicke field in Non-metricity gravity: Cosmological solutions and Conformal transformations

We consider the Brans-Dicke theory in non-metricity gravity, which belongs to the family of symmetric teleparallel scalar-tensor theories. Our focus lies in exploring the implications of the conformal transformation, as we derive the conformal equivalent theory in the Einstein frame, distinct from the minimally coupled scalar field theory. The fundamental principle of the conformal transformation suggests the mathematical equivalence of the related theories. However, to thoroughly analyze the impact on physical variables, we investigate the spatially flat Friedmann--Lemaître--Robertson--Walker geometry, defining the connection in the non-coincidence gauge. We construct exact solutions for the cosmological model in one frame and compare the physical properties in the conformal related frame. Surprisingly, we find that the general physical properties of the exact solutions remain invariant under the conformal transformation. Finally, we construct, for the first time, an analytic solution for the symmetric teleparallel scalar-tensor cosmology.

We consider the symmetric teleparallel $f\left( Q\right) $-gravity in Friedmann--Lemaître--Robertson--Walker cosmology with nonzero spatial curvature. For a nonlinear $f\left( Q\right) $ model there exist always the limit of General\ Relativity with or without the cosmological constant term. The de Sitter solution is always provided by the theory and for the specific models $f_{A}\left( Q\right) \simeq Q^{\fracα{α-1}}% ~,~f_{B}\left( Q\right) \simeq Q+f_{1}Q^{\fracα{α-1}}$ and $f_{C}\left( Q\right) \simeq Q+f_{1}Q\ln Q$ it was found to be the unique attractor. Consequently small deviations from STGR can solve the flatness problem and lead to a de Sitter expansion without introduce a cosmological constant term. This result is different from that given by the power-law theories for the other two scalar of the trinity of General Relativity. What makes the nonlinear symmetric teleparallel theory to stand out are the new degree of freedom provided by the connection defined in the non-coincidence frame which describes the nonzero spatial curvature.

Then we generate the luminosity distance measurements from ${\cal O}(10^3)$ mock Gravitational Wave Standard Sirens (GWSS) events for the proposed Einstein Telescope. We then combine these mock luminosity distance measurements from the GWSS with the current cosmological probes in order to forecast how the mock GWSS data could be effective in constraining these bulk viscous scenarios. Our results show that a non-zero time dependent bulk viscosity in the universe sector is strongly preferred by the current cosmological probes and will possibly be confirmed at many standard deviations by the future GWSS measurements. We further mention that the addition of GWSS data can significantly reduce the uncertainties of the key cosmological parameters obtained from the usual cosmological probes employed in this work.

We introduce a time-delay function in bulk viscosity cosmology. Even for bulk viscosity functions where closed-form solutions are known, because of the time-delay term the exact solutions are lost. Therefore in order to study the cosmological evolution of the resulting models we perform a detail analysis of the stability of the critical points, which describe de Sitter solutions, by using Lindstedt's method. We find that for the stability of the critical points it depends also on the time-delay parameter, where a critical time-delay value is found which play the role of a bifurcation point. For time-delay values near to the critical value, the cosmological evolution has a periodic evolution, this oscillating behaviour is because of the time-delay function. We find a new behaviour near the exponential expansion point, which can be seen also as an alternative way to exit the exponential inflation.

Furthermore, the evolution of the trajectories for the field equations is studied by deriving the stationary points at the finite and infinite regimes. For the $f(T,B)=T+F\left( B\right) $ theory, we prove that for a specific limit of the function $F\left( B\right) $, the anisotropic Universe has the expanding and isotropic Universe as an attractor with zero spatial curvature. Function $h\left( r\right) $ is classified according to the admitted Lie symmetries for the master equation. The possible admitted Lie symmetries form the $A_{2}$, $A_{3,2}$, $A_{3,3}$ and $sl\left( 3,R\right) $ Lie algebras. The new inflationary solution is recovered by the Lie symmetries of the $A_{3,3}$ algebra. Scalar field potential is derived explicitly, while we compare the resulting spectral indices with the observations.

We present a unified description of the matter and dark energy epochs, using a class of scalar-torsion theories. We provide a Hamiltonian description, and by applying Noether's theorem and by requiring the field equations to admit linear-in-momentum conservation laws we obtain two specific classes of scalar-field potentials. We extract analytic solutions and we perform a detailed dynamical analysis. We show that the system possesses critical points that correspond to scaling solutions in which the effective, total equation-of-state parameter is close to zero and points in which it is equal to the cosmological constant value $-1$. Therefore, during evolution, the Universe remains for sufficiently long times at the epoch corresponding to dust-matter domination, while at later times it enters the accelerated epoch and it eventually results in the de Sitter phase. Finally, in contrast to other unified scenarios, such as Chaplygin gas-based models as well as Horndeski-based constructions, the present scenario is free from instabilities and pathologies at the perturbative level.

While these discordances can still be in part the result of systematic errors, their persistence after several years of accurate analysis strongly hints at cracks in the standard cosmological scenario and the necessity for new physics or generalisations beyond the standard model. In this paper, we focus on the $5.0\,σ$ tension between the {\it Planck} CMB estimate of the Hubble constant $H_0$ and the SH0ES collaboration measurements. After showing the $H_0$ evaluations made from different teams using different methods and geometric calibrations, we list a few interesting new physics models that could alleviate this tension and discuss how the next decade's experiments will be crucial. Moreover, we focus on the tension of the {\it Planck} CMB data with weak lensing measurements and redshift surveys, about the value of the matter energy density $Ω_m$, and the amplitude or rate of the growth of structure ($σ_8,fσ_8$). We list a few interesting models proposed for alleviating this tension, and we discuss the importance of trying to fit a full array of data with a single model and not just one parameter at a time. Additionally, we present a wide range of other less discussed anomalies at a statistical significance level lower than the $H_0$--$S_8$ tensions which may also constitute hints towards new physics, and we discuss possible generic theoretical approaches that can collectively explain the non-standard nature of these signals.[Abridged]

A precise measurement of the curvature of the Universe is of primeval importance for cosmology since it could not only confirm the paradigm of primordial inflation but also help in discriminating between different early Universe scenarios. The recent observations, while broadly consistent with a spatially flat standard $Λ$ Cold Dark Matter ($Λ$CDM) model, are showing tensions that still allow (and, in some cases, even suggest) a few percent deviations from a flat universe. In particular, the Planck Cosmic Microwave Background power spectra, assuming the nominal likelihood, prefer a closed universe at more than 99\% confidence level. While new physics could be in action, this anomaly may be the result of an unresolved systematic error or just a statistical fluctuation. However, since a positive curvature allows a larger age of the Universe, an accurate determination of the age of the oldest objects provides a smoking gun in confirming or falsifying the current flat $Λ$CDM model.

In particular, we consider a model proposed by Kanno and Soda where the aether and the scalar fields interact through the aether coefficient parameters, which are promoted to be functions of the scalar field. For this model, we write the field equations by using the minisuperspace approach and we determine the scalar field potentials which leads to Liouville--integrable systems. We solve the field equations for five families of scalar field potentials and, whether it is feasible, we write down the analytic solutions by using closed-form functions.

Interacting dark energy models are widely renowned for giving an explanation to the cosmic coincidence problem as well as several observational issues. According to the recent observational data, and so far we are concerned with the literature, the choice of the interaction function between dark matter and dark energy is always questionable since there is no such underlying theory that could derive it. Thus, in this work we have raised this issue by proposing two new nonlinear interaction functions and constrain them using cosmic microwave background (CMB) from Planck 2018, baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), dark energy survey and a measurement of the Hubble constant $H_0$ from Hubble Space Telescope (HST) 2019. The dark energy equation of state is considered to be constant throughout the work and the geometry of the universe is assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic with zero spatial curvature. Our analyses report that a non-zero interaction is always allowed by the observational data and the dark energy equation of state is bent towards the phantom regime. In particular, when $H_0$ from HST is added to Planck 2018+BAO, we find an evidence for a non-zero coupling at more than $2σ$ confidence level. Our analyses also report that for both the models, $H_0$ is close to its local measurements and thus alleviating the $H_0$ tension. In particular, one of the interacting models perfectly solves the $H_0$ tension.

Specifically, we assume one of the scalar fields to be minimally coupled to gravity, while the second field which is the Brans-Dicke scalar field is nonminimally coupled to gravity and also coupled to the other scalar field. In the Einstein frame this theory reduces to a two-scalar field theory where the two fields can interact only in the potential term, which means that the quintom theory is recovered. The cosmological evolution is studied by analyzing the equilibrium points of the field equations in the Jordan frame. We find that the theory can describe the cosmological evolution in large scales, while inflationary solutions are also provided.

The power law in the bulk viscous coefficient is a general case in this study which naturally includes several choices as special cases. Considering such a general bulk viscous scenario, in the present work we have extracted the observational constraints using the latest cosmological datasets and examine their behaviour at the level of both background and perturbations. From the observational analyses, we find that a non-zero bulk viscous coefficient is always favored and some of the models in this series are able to weaken the current tension on $H_0$ for some dataset. However, from the Bayesian evidence analysis, $Λ$CDM is favored over the bulk viscous model.

Unified cosmological models have received a lot of attention in astrophysics community for explaining both the dark matter and dark energy evolution. The Chaplygin cosmologies, a well known name in this group have been investigated matched with observations from different sources. Obviously, Chaplygin cosmologies have to obey restrictions in order to be consistent with the observational data. As a consequence, alternative unified models, differing from Chaplygin model, are of special interest. In the present work we consider a specific example of such a unified cosmological model, that is quantified by only a single parameter $μ$, that can be considered as a minimal extension of the $Λ$-cold dark matter cosmology. We investigate its observational boundaries together with an analysis of the universe at large scale. Our study shows that at early time the model behaves like a dust, and as time evolves, it mimics a dark energy fluid depicting a clear transition from the early decelerating phase to the late cosmic accelerating phase. Finally, the model approaches the cosmological constant boundary in an asymptotic manner. We remark that for the present unified model, the estimations of $H_0$ are slightly higher than its local estimation and thus alleviating the $H_0$ tension.

We examine the phase space of Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology for a wide range of self-interacting potentials for the scalar field under the detailed-balance condition and without imposing it, by means of the powerful method of $f$-devisers. A compactification approach is performed for the exponential potential and for potentials beyond the exponential one, extending the previous findings in the literature. By using this approach it is possible to describe the finite region of the phase space and the region where the phase-space variables becomes infinity. Furthermore, we present several results concerning the stability of the \emph{de Sitter} solution in Hořava-Lifshitz cosmology using Center Manifold theory. The advantages of this procedure are unveiled immediately when it is compared with the Normal Forms Calculations presented before in the literature.

In the present work we perform a systematic analysis of a new dark energy parametrization and its various corrections at first and higher orders around the presence epoch $z=0$, where the first order correction of this dark energy parametrization recovers the known Chevallier-Polarski-Linder model. We have considered up to the third order corrections of this parametrization and investigate the models at the level of background and perturbations. The models have been constrained using the latest astronomical datasets from a series of potential astronomical data, such as the cosmic microwave background observations, baryon acoustic oscillations measurements, recent Pantheon sample of the supernova type Ia and the Hubble parameter measurements. From the analyses we found that all parametrization favor the quintessential character of the dark energy equation of state where the phantom crossing is marginally allowed (within 68\% CL). Finally, we perform the Bayesian analysis using \texttt{MCEvidence} to quantify the statistical deviations of the parametrizations compared to the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology. The Bayesian analysis reports that $Λ$CDM is favored over all the DE parametrizations.

We consider a class of interacting dark energy models in a flat and nonflat FLRW universe where the interaction is characterized by the modified evolution of the pressureless dark matter as $a^{-3+δ(a)}$, $a$ being the FLRW scale factor and $δ(a)$ quantifies the interaction rate. By assuming the most natural and nonsingular parametrization for $δ(a)$ as $δ\left( a\right) =\sum_{i} δ_i (1-a)^i $, where $δ_{i}$'s ($i=0,1,2,3,..$) are constants, we reconstruct the expansion history of the universe for three particular choices of the DE sector using different cosmological datasets. Our analyses show that the non-interacting scenario is consistent with the observations while the interaction is not strictly ruled out. We reconstruct in the following way. We start with the first two terms of $δ(a)$ above and constrain $δ_0$, $δ_1$. Then we consider up to the second order terms in $δ(a)$ but fix $δ_0$, $δ_1$ to their constrained values and constrain $δ_2$; similarly we constrain $δ_3$, and finally we constrain $(δ_0, δ_1, δ_1, δ_3)$ by keeping all of them to be free as a generalized case. Our reconstruction technique shows that the constraints on $δ_2$ (fixing $δ_0$ and $δ_1$) and $δ_3$ (fixing $δ_0$, $δ_1$ and $δ_2$) are almost zero for any interaction model and thus the effective scenario is well described by the linear parametrization $δ(a)\simeq δ_{0}+δ_{1}(1-a)$. Additionally, a strong negative correlation between $δ_0$, $δ_1$ is observed independently of the dark energy fluid and the curvature of our universe.

Cosmological evolution driven incorporating continuous particle creation by the time-varying gravitational field is investigated. We consider a spatially flat, homogeneous and isotropic universe with two matter fluids in the context of general relativity. One fluid is endowed with gravitationally induced `adiabatic' particle creation, while the second fluid simply satisfies the conservation of energy. We show that the dynamics of the two fluids is entirely controlled by a single nonlinear differential equation involving the particle creation rate, $Γ(t)$. We consider a very general particle creation rate, $Γ(t)$, that reduces to several special cases of cosmological interest, including $Γ=$ constant, $% Γ\propto 1/H^{n}$ ($n\in \mathbb{N}$), $Γ\propto \exp (1/H)$. Finally, we present singular algebraic solutions of the gravitational field equations for the two-fluid particle creation models and discuss their stability.

The cosmological viability of varying $G\left( t\right) $ and $Λ\left( t\right) $ cosmology is discussed by determining the cosmological eras provided by the theory. Such a study is performed with the determination of the critical points while stability analysis is performed. The application of Renormalization group in the ADM formalism of General Relativity provides a modified second-order theory of gravity where varying $G\left( t\right) $ plays the role of a minimally coupled field, different from that of Scalar-tensor theories, while $Λ\left( t\right) =Λ\left( G\left( t\right) \right) $ is a potential term. We find that the theory provides two de Sitter phases and a tracking solution. In the presence of matter source, two new critical points are introduced, where the matter source contributes to the universe. One of those points describes the $Λ$CDM cosmology and in order for the solution at the point to be cosmologically viable, it has to be unstable. Moreover, the second point, where matter exists, describes a universe where the dark energy parameter for the equation of state has a different value from that of the cosmological constant.

Cosmological models where dark matter (DM) and dark energy (DE) interact with each other are the general scenarios in compared to the non-interacting models. The interaction is usually motivated from the phenomenological ground and thus there is no such rule to prefer a particular interaction between DM and DE. Being motivated, in this work, allowing an exponential interaction between DM and DE in a spatially flat homogeneous and isotropic universe, we explore the dynamics of the universe through the constraints of the free parameters where the strength of the interaction is characterized by the dimensionless coupling parameter $ξ$ and the equation of state (EoS) for DE, $w_x$, is supposed to be a constant. The interaction scenario is fitted using the latest available observational data. Our analyses report that the observational data permit a non-zero value of $ξ$ but it is very small and consistent with $ξ=0$. From the constraints on $w_x$, we find that both phantom ($w_x< -1$) and quintessence ($w_x> -1$) regimes are equally allowed but $w_x$ is very close to `$-1$'. The overall results indicate that at the background level, the interaction model cannot be distinguished from the base $Λ$-cold dark matter model while from the perturbative analyses, the interaction model mildly deviates from the base model. We highlight that, even if we allow DM and DE to interact in an exponential manner, but according to the observational data, the evidence for a non-zero coupling is very small.

We study for the first time the dynamical properties and the growth index of linear matter perturbations of the Finsler-Randers (FR) cosmological model, for which we consider that the cosmic fluid contains matter, radiation and a scalar field. Initially, for various FR scenarios we implement a critical point analysis and we find solutions which provide cosmic acceleration and under certain circumstances we can have de-Sitter points as stable late-time attractors. Then we derive the growth index of matter fluctuations in various Finsler-Randers cosmologies. Considering cold dark matter and neglecting the scalar field component from the perturbation analysis we find that the asymptotic value of the growth index is $γ_{\infty}^{(FR)}\approx\frac {9}{16}$, which is close to that of the concordance $Λ$ cosmology, $γ^{(Λ)} \approx\frac{6}{11}$. In this context, we show that the current FR model provides the same Hubble expansion with that of Dvali, Gabadadze and Porrati (DGP) gravity model. However, the two models can be distinguished at the perturbation level since the growth index of FR model is $\sim18.2\%$ lower than that of the DPG gravity $γ^{(DGP)} \approx \frac{11}{16}$. If we allow pressure in the matter fluid then we obtain $γ_{\infty}^{(FR)}\approx\frac{9(1+w_{m})(1+2w_{m})}{2[8+3w_{m}% (5+3w_{m})]}$, where $w_{m}$ is the matter equation of state parameter. Finally, we extend the growth index analysis by using the scalar field and we find that the evolution of the growth index in FR cosmologies is affected by the presence of scalar field.

The theory with the use of a Lagrange multiplier is equivalent with that of General Relativity with a minimally coupled noncanonical field. A class of generalized Galileon cosmological models, which can be described by a point-like Lagrangian, is considered in order to utilize Noether's Theorem to determine conservation laws for the field equations. In the Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker universe, the existence of a nontrivial conservation law indicates the integrability of the field equations. Due to the complexity of the latter, we apply the differential invariants approach in order to construct special power-law solutions and study their stability.

Finally for some models exact solutions are presented.

We use a mathematical approach based on the constraints systems in order to reconstruct the equation of state and the inflationary potential for the inflaton field from the observed spectral indices for the density perturbations $n_{s}$ and the tensor to scalar ratio $r$. From the astronomical data, we can observe that the measured values of these two indices lie on a two-dimensional surface. We express these indices in terms of the Hubble slow-roll parameters and we assume that $n_{s}-1=h\left( r\right) $. For the function $h\left( r\right) $, we consider three cases, where $h\left( r\right) $ is constant, linear and quadratic, respectively. From this, we derive second-order equations whose solutions provide us with the explicit forms for the expansion scale-factor, the scalar-field potential, and the effective equation of state for the scalar field. Finally, we show that for there exist mappings which transform one cosmological solution to another and allow new solutions to be generated from existing ones.

Specifically, based on the existence of contact symmetries of the field equations, we find four types of potentials which provide exactly integrable dynamical systems. We investigate the dynamical properties of these potentials by using a critical point analysis and we find solutions which lead to cosmic acceleration and under specific conditions we can have de-Sitter points as stable late-time attractors.

In a homogeneous and isotropic universe with non-zero spatial curvature we consider the effects of gravitational particle production in the dynamics of the universe. We show that the dynamics of the universe in such a background is characterized by a single nonlinear differential equation which is significantly dependent on the rate of particle creation and whose solutions can be dominated by the curvature effects at early times. For different particle creation rates we apply the singularity test in order to find the analytic solutions of the background dynamics. We describe the behavior of the cosmological solutions for both open and closed universes. We also show how the effects of curvature can be produced by the presence of a second perfect fluid with an appropriate equation of state. By combining that results with the analysis of the critical points we find that our consideration can be related with the pre-inflationary era. Specifically we find that for negative spatial curvature small changes of the Milne spacetime leads to a de Sitter universe.

Solutions can be found for pure scalar fields with various potentials in the absence and presence of spatial curvature and other perfect fluids. A series of generalisations of the Chaplygin gas and bulk viscous cosmological solutions for inflationary universes are found. Furthermore other closed-form solutions which provide inflationary universes are presented. We also show how the Hubble slow-roll parameters can be calculated using the solution algorithm and we compare these inflationary solutions with the observational data provided by the Planck 2015 collaboration in order to constraint and rule out some of these models.

We investigate Kantowski-Sachs models in Einstein-æther theory with a perfect fluid source using the singularity analysis to prove the integrability of the field equations and dynamical system tools to study the evolution. We find an inflationary source at early times, and an inflationary sink at late times, for a wide region in the parameter space. The results by A. A. Coley, G. Leon, P. Sandin and J. Latta (JCAP 12, 010, 2015), are then re-obtained as particular cases. Additionally, we select other values for the non-GR parameters which are consistent with current constraints, getting a very rich phenomenology. In particular, we find solutions with infinite shear, zero curvature, and infinite matter energy density in comparison with the Hubble scalar. We also have stiff-like future attractors, anisotropic late-time attractors, or both, in some special cases. Such results are developed analytically, and then verified by numerics. Finally, the physical interpretation of the new critical points is discussed.
