Early observations with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have revealed the existence of an unexpectedly large abundance of extremely massive galaxies at redshifts $z \gtrsim 5$: these observations are in tension with the predictions not only of the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology, but also with those of a wide class of dynamical dark energy (DE) models, and are generally in better agreement with models characterized by a phantom behaviour. Here we consider a model, inspired by string theory and the ubiquity of anti-de Sitter vacua therein, featuring an evolving DE component with positive energy density on top of a negative cosmological constant, argued in an earlier exploratory analysis to potentially be able to explain the JWST observations. We perform a robust comparison of this model against JWST data, considering both photometric observations from the CEERS program, and spectroscopic observations from the FRESCO survey. We show that the model is able to accommodate the JWST observations, with a consistency probability of up to $98\%$, even in the presence of an evolving component with a quintessence-like behaviour (easier to accommodate theoretically compared to phantom DE), while remaining consistent with standard low-redshift probes. Our results showcase the tremendous potential of measurements of high-redshift galaxy abundances in tests of fundamental physics, and their valuable complementarity with standard cosmological probes.

Early data from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has uncovered the existence of a surprisingly abundant population of very massive galaxies at extremely high redshift, which are hard to accommodate within the standard $Λ$CDM cosmology. We explore whether the JWST observations may be pointing towards more complex dynamics in the dark energy (DE) sector. Motivated by the ubiquity of anti-de Sitter vacua in string theory, we consider a string-inspired scenario where the DE sector consists of a negative cosmological constant (nCC) and a evolving component with positive energy density on top, whose equation of state is allowed to cross the phantom divide. We show that such a scenario can drastically alter the growth of structure compared to $Λ$CDM, and accommodate the otherwise puzzling JWST observations if the dynamical component evolves from the quintessence-like regime in the past to the phantom regime today: in particular, we demonstrate that the presence of a nCC (which requires a higher density for the evolving component) plays a crucial role in enhancing the predicted cumulative comoving stellar mass density. Our work reinforces the enormous potential held by observations of the abundance of high-$z$ galaxies in probing cosmological models and new fundamental physics, including string-inspired ingredients.

The evaporation of Primordial Black Hole (PBH) via Hawking radiation influences the evolution of Inter Galactic Medium by heating up the latter and consequently affects the 21cm signal originated from the neutral Hydrogen atoms. In this work, we have considered EDGES observational data of 21cm line corresponding to cosmic dawn era to constrain the mass and the abundance of PBHs. In this context, two different PBH mass distributions namely, power law and lognormal mass distributions are considered to estimate the effects of PBH evaporation on the 21cm brightness temperature $T_{21}$. In addition to these two mass distributions, different monochromatic masses are also considered. The impacts of Dark Matter - baryon interactions on $T_{21}$ are also considered in this work along with the influences of PBH evaporation. Furthermore, adopting different monochromatic masses for PBHs, an attempt has been made to formulate a distribution for PBH masses by associating a probability weightage of the $T_{21}$ values (at $z \sim 17.2$), within the range given by EDGES experiment, with the calculated $T_{21}$ values for each of the PBH mass values. The distribution best suited for the present purpose is found to be a combination of an error function and Owen function. Allowed contours in the parameter space of (initial PBH mass-dark matter mass) are obtained.

The evaporations of Primordial Black Holes (PBH) (via Hawking radiation) can produce electrons/positrons ($e^-/e^+$) in the Galactic Centre (GC) region which under the influence of the magnetic field of Centre region can emit synchrotron radiation. These $e^-/e^+$ can also induce Inverse Compton radiation due to the scattering with ambient photons. In this work three different PBH mass distributions namely, monochromatic, power law and lognormal distributions are considered to calculate such radiation fluxes. On the other hand, annihilation or decay of dark matter in the Galactic Centre region can also yield $e^-/e^+$ as the end product which again may emit synchrotron radiation in the Galactic magnetic field and also induce Inverse Compton scattering. In this work a comparative study is made for these radiation fluxes from both PBH evaporations and from dark matter origins and their detectabilities are addressed in various ongoing and other telescopes as well as in upcoming telescopes such as SKA. Moreover, constraints on the model parameters are obtained from these experimental predictions. The variations of these radiation fluxes with the distance from the Galactic Centre are also computed and it is found that such variations could be a useful probe to determine the mass of PBH or the mass of dark matter.

We have considered that the compact objects are following a spherically symmetric static metric and obtained the Einstein field equations in the spacetime of $f(\mathbb{T},\mathcal{T})$. To make the Einstein equations solvable we employ the methodology of conformal Killing vectors. Thereafter by using the MIT bag equation of state to the compact stars, considering that the stars are formed by strange quark, we find the solutions set. The solutions are examined via several physical tastings which exhibit viability of the model.

We consider possible interaction of Dark Matter and Dark Energy fluid along with the cooling off of the baryon matter by its collision with Dark Matter to explain the observed excess trough of $T_{21}$. We make use of three different Dark Matter-Dark Energy (DM-DE) interaction models to taste the viability of those models in explaining the EDGES results. The evolution of Hubble parameter is modified by DM-DE interactions and this is also addressed in this work. This in turn influences the optical depth of HI 21cm as well as the baryon temperature and thus effects the $T_{21}$ brightness temperature. In addition we also find that the DM-DE interaction enables us to explore Dark Matter with varied mass regimes and their viabilities in terms of satisfying the EDGES result.

The pNGB originates out of breaking of spontaneous symmetry at a scale $f$ close to Planck mass $M_{\rm{pl}}$. We consider two cases namely the quintessence dark energy and the other, where the standard pNGB action is modified by the terms related to Slotheon cosmology. We demonstrate that for this pNGB potential, high-$f$ problem is better addressed when interaction between dark matter and dark energy is taken into account and that Slotheon dark energy scenario works even better over quintessence in this respect. To this end, a mass limit for dark matter is also estimated.

Exact solutions of the Einstein field equations with cosmic string and space varying cosmological constant, viz., $Λ= Λ(r)$, in the energy-momentum tensors are presented. Three cases have been studied: where variable cosmological constant (1) has power law dependence, (2) is proportional to the string fluid density, and (3) is purely a constant. Some cases of interesting physical consequences have been found out such that (i) variable cosmological constant can be represented by a power law of the type $Λ=3r^{-2}$, (ii) variable cosmological constant and cosmic string density are interdependent to each other according to the relation $Λ=-8πρ_s$, and (iii) cosmic string density can be scaled by a power law of the type $ρ_s=r^{-2}$. It is also shown that several known solutions can be recovered from the general form of the solutions obtained here.

But at present the Universe is dark energy dominated as well as accelerating. Here, the presence of dark energy has been established by including a time-dependent $Λ$ term in the Einstein's field equations. This model is compatible with the idea of an accelerating Universe so far as the value of the deceleration parameter is concerned. Possibility of a change in sign of the deceleration parameter is also discussed. The impact of considering the speed of light as variable in the field equations has also been investigated by using a well known time-dependent $Λ$ model.

Two phenomenological models of $Λ$, viz. $Λ\sim (\dot a/a)^2$ and $Λ\sim \ddot a/a$ are studied under the assumption that $G$ is a time-variable parameter. Both models show that $G$ is inversely proportional to time as suggested earlier by others including Dirac. The models considered here can be matched with observational results by properly tuning the parameters of the models. Our analysis shows that $Λ\sim \ddot a/a$ model corresponds to a repulsive situation and hence correlates with the present status of the accelerating Universe. The other model $Λ\sim (\dot a/a)^2$ is, in general, attractive in nature. Moreover, it is seen that due to the combined effect of time-variable $Λ$ and $G$ the Universe evolved with acceleration as well as deceleration. This later one indicates a Big Crunch.
