The present work begins by examining the early-Universe inflationary epoch of a special K-essence model, which incorporates a linear coupling term between the scalar field potential and the canonical Lagrangian. For the power law potential, we both numerically and analytically prove that the inflationary parameters such as the spectral index and tensor-to-scalar ratio are compatible with the recent BICEP/Keck observations. Continuing this work, our analysis based on comparing early-Universe observations with late-Universe measurements indicates that the tension on the Hubble parameter $H_0$ and the growth of structure parameter $S_8$ can be alleviated simultaneously. More precisely, compared to the standard $Λ$CDM model, our model can reduce $H_0$ tension to roughly $2.2 σ$ and the $S_8$ discrepancy diminishes to $0.82σ$.

To accomplish this, we consider the coupling function between the inflaton field and $\mathbb{T}^2= T_{μν}T^{μν}$ term. PBHs formed within this scenario can contribute partially or entirely to dark matter (DM) abundance. Furthermore, the amplification in the scalar power spectrum will concurrently produce significant scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs) as a second-order effect. In addition, the energy spectrum associated with SIGWs can be compatible with the recent NANOGrav 15-year stochastic gravitational wave detection and fall into the sensitivity range of other forthcoming GW observatories.

We demonstrate that the presence of EMSG terms allows the single-field monomial chaotic inflationary models to fall within current observational constraints, which are otherwise disfavored by Planck and BICEP/Keck findings. We show that the use of a non-canonical Lagrangian with chaotic potential in EMSG can lead to significantly larger values of the non-Gaussianity parameter, $f_{\rm Nl}^{\rm equi}$ whereas EMSG framework with canonical Lagrangian gives rise to results similar to those of the standard single-field model.

We study a model of inflation with multiple pseudo-scalar fields coupled to a $U(1)$ gauge field through Chern-Simons interactions. Because of parity violating interactions, one polarization of the gauge field is amplified yielding to enhanced curvature perturbation power spectrum. Inflation proceeds in multiple stages as each pseudo-scalar field rolls towards its minimum yielding to distinct multiple peaks in the curvature perturbations power spectrum at various scales during inflation. The localized peaks in power spectrum generate Primordial Black Holes (PBHs) which can furnish a large fraction of Dark Matter (DM) abundance. In addition, gravitational waves (GWs) with non-trivial spectra are generated which are in sensitivity range of various forthcoming GW observatories.

In this paper, we extend the mimetic gravity to the multi-field setup with a curved field space manifold. The multi-field mimetic scenario is realized via the singular limit of the conformal transformation between the auxiliary and the physical metrics. We look for the cosmological implications of the setup where it is shown that at the background level the mimetic energy density mimics the roles of dark matter. At the perturbation level, the scalar field perturbations are decomposed into the tangential and normal components with respect to the background field space trajectory. The adiabatic perturbation tangential to the background trajectory is frozen while the entropy mode perpendicular to the background trajectory propagates with the speed of unity. Whether or not the entropy perturbation is healthy directly depends on the signature of the field-space metric. We perform the full non-linear Hamiltonian analysis of the system with the curved field space manifold and calculate the physical degrees of freedom verifying that the system is free from the Ostrogradsky-type ghost.

We study inflationary solution in an extension of mimetic gravity with the higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity. Because of the higher derivative interactions, the setup is free from the ghost and gradient instabilities while it hosts a number of novel properties. The dispersion relation of scalar perturbations develops quartic momentum correction similar to the setup of ghost inflation. Furthermore, the tilt of tensor perturbations can take either signs with a modified consistency relation between the tilt and the amplitude of tensor perturbations. Despite the presence of higher derivative interactions coupled to gravity, the tensor perturbations propagate with a speed equal to the speed of light as required by the LIGO observations. Furthermore, the higher derivative interactions induce non-trivial interactions in cubic Hamiltonian, generating non-Gaussianities in various shapes such as the equilateral, orthogonal, and squeezed configurations with observable amplitudes.

The vector field sector enjoys global $O(3)$ symmetry which admits isotropic configuration and provides not only vector modes but also scalar and tensor modes. We decompose the scalar perturbations into the adiabatic, entropy and isocurvature perturbations and compute all power spectra and cross correlations of the scalar and the tensor sectors. The tensor modes associated with the vector fields contribute to the power spectrum of gravitational waves while the parity violating term generates chirality in gravitational power spectra and bispectra. We study nonlinear scalar and tensor perturbations and compute all bispectra and three-point cross-correlations. In particular, it is shown that the non-Gaussianity of curvature perturbations and gravitational waves are enhanced by the vector field perturbations. We show that non-Gaussianities put strong constraints on the model parameters such as the parity violating coupling and the fractional energy of the vector fields.

We present a model of inflation in which the inflaton field is charged under a triplet of $U(1)$ gauge fields. The model enjoys an internal $O(3)$ symmetry supporting the isotropic FRW solution. With an appropriate coupling between the gauge fields and the inflaton field, the system reaches an attractor regime in which the gauge fields furnish a small constant fraction of the total energy density. We decompose the scalar perturbations into the adiabatic and entropy modes and calculate the contributions of the gauge fields into the curvature perturbations power spectrum. We also calculate the entropy power spectrum and the adiabatic-entropy cross correlation. In addition to the metric tensor perturbations, there are tensor perturbations associated with the gauge field perturbations which are coupled to metric tensor perturbations. We show that the correction in primordial gravitational tensor power spectrum induced from the matter tensor perturbation is a sensitive function of the gauge coupling.

We study the cosmological applications of the new gauge field mimetic model and show that it generates an energy density component which mimics the roles of spatial curvature. In the presence of the Maxwell term, the model also supports the flat, open and closed de Sitter-like cosmological backgrounds while the spatial geometry is flat for all three cases. We perform the cosmological perturbations analysis and show that the model is stable in the case of open de Sitter-like solution while it suffers from ghost instabilities in the case of the closed de Sitter-like solution.

We study cosmological perturbations in mimetic gravity in the presence of classified higher derivative terms which can make the mimetic perturbations stable. We show that the quadratic higher derivative terms which are independent of curvature and the cubic higher derivative terms which come from curvature corrections are sufficient to remove instabilities in mimetic perturbations. The advantage of working with the classified higher derivative terms is that we can control both the background and the perturbation equations allowing us to construct the higher derivative extension of mimetic dark matter and the mimetic nonsingular bouncing scenarios. The latter can be thought as a new higher derivative effective action for the loop quantum cosmology scenario in which the equations of motion coincide with those suggested by loop quantum cosmology. We investigate a possible connection between the mimetic cosmology and the Randall-Sundrum cosmology.

We study cosmological perturbations in mimetic matter scenario with a general higher derivative function. We calculate the quadratic action and show that both the kinetic term and the gradient term have the wrong sings. We perform the analysis in both comoving and Newtonian gauges and confirm that the Hamiltonians and the associated instabilities are consistent with each other in both gauges. The existence of instabilities is independent of the specific form of higher derivative function which generates gradients for mimetic field perturbations. It is verified that the ghost instability in mimetic perturbations is not associated with the higher derivative instabilities such as the Ostrogradsky ghost.
