We propose a new realisation of light Dirac neutrino mass and dark matter (DM) within the framework of a non-Abelian discrete flavour symmetry based on $A_4$ group. In addition to $A_4$, we also consider a $Z_2$ and an unbroken global lepton number symmetry $U(1)_L$ to keep unwanted terms away while guaranteeing the Dirac nature of light neutrinos. The field content, their transformations and flavon vacuum alignments are chosen in such a way that the type-I Dirac seesaw generates only one light Dirac neutrino mass while the other two masses arise from scotogenic contributions at one-loop. This leads to the Dirac scoto-seesaw framework, a generalisation of the widely studied scoto-seesaw model to Dirac neutrinos. The symmetry breaking of $A_4$ leaves a remnant $\mathcal{Z}_2$ symmetry responsible for stabilising DM. Dirac nature of light neutrinos introduces additional relativistic degrees of freedom $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ within reach of cosmic microwave background experiments.

We study the possibility of testing quantum gravity (QG) effects with a type-I seesaw origin of light neutrino mass embedded in a global $U(1)_L$ symmetric framework which also includes dark matter (DM). The spontaneous breaking of $U(1)_L$ symmetry generates the seesaw scale as well as DM mass dynamically. The (pseudo) Nambu-Goldstone boson, known as majoron, acquires non-zero mass due to soft symmetry breaking terms of quadratic type in the scalar potential, which eventually breaks $U(1)_L$ to its $Z_2$ subgroup. The spontaneous symmetry breaking, which effectively breaks $Z_2$, leads to the formation of domain walls (DW), posing a threat to successful cosmology, if allowed to dominate. As gravity does not respect any global symmetries, we consider higher dimensional operators suppressed by the scale of QG namely, $Λ_{\rm QG}$ which introduces the required bias leading to DW annihilation and emission of stochastic gravitational waves (GW) observable at near future experiments. The same operators also lead to decay of DM bringing interesting indirect detection aspects. While DM is produced non-thermally via scalar portal interactions, light majoron can give rise to additional $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ within reach of future cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments.

Amaterasu, the second most energetic ($244$ EeV) cosmic ray particle has been recently detected by the Telescope Array (TA) surface detector. The origin of the TA Amaterasu event is puzzling, as its arrival direction points back to a void in the local Universe, lacking conventional astrophysical ultra-high-energy (UHE) cosmic ray (CR) sources. Hence, we explore the possibility if this TA Amaterasu event could have originated from the decay of superheavy dark matter (SHDM) in the Milky Way. Such an origin also opens up multi-messenger detection channels in both UHE gamma-rays and UHE neutrinos. In this present work, using the TA Amaterasu event and the multi-messenger limits/sensitivities from various UHE telescopes, we place stringent constraints on the lifetime and mass of the SHDM. We find that the non-detection of the corresponding gamma-rays at the Pierre Auger Observatory (PAO) and the TA is in severe tension with the SHDM parameter space required to explain the TA Amaterasu event. Additionally, we extend the multi-messenger analysis to the future UHE gamma-ray and UHE neutrino telescopes such as PAO upgrade, GRAND 200k and IceCube-Gen2. We find that the bounds from the future neutrino telescopes will be able to compete with the present UHECR bounds. However, compared to the existing UHE gamma-ray bounds, the future PAO upgrade and the GRAND 200k gamma-ray detectors will improve the bounds on SHDM lifetime by at least one order of magnitude.

We propose a novel scenario where thermally under-abundant dark matter (DM) can be revived with a first-order phase transition (FOPT). In the absence of FOPT, thermal DM abundance remains suppressed due to efficient annihilation via mediators. A FOPT brings sharp change to the mass of the mediator at the nucleation temperature such that the final DM relic agrees with observations. We implement this idea in a scenario where DM interacts via a mediator whose initial mass is of same order as DM mass keeping DM annihilation either in allowed or forbidden ballpark. As the mediator mass decreases sharply at the nucleation temperature of the FOPT, the frozen out DM suffers further depletion while keeping final relic within observed limits. DM with sizeable interactions with a light mediator can also give rise to the required self-interactions necessary to solve the small scale structure issues of cold dark matter. While the mechanism is generic to any thermal DM mass, choosing it in the GeV ballpark forces the FOPT to MeV scale which predicts stochastic gravitational waves with nano-Hz frequencies within reach of pulsar timing array (PTA) based experiments like NANOGrav. The existence of light scalar mediator and its mixing with the Higgs keep the scenario verifiable at different particle physics experiments.

We study the possibility of generating dark matter (DM) and baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU) simultaneously in an asymmetric DM framework which also alleviates the small-scale structure issues of cold DM (CDM). While thermal relic of such self-interacting DM (SIDM) remains under-abundant due to efficient annihilation into light mediators, a non-zero asymmetry in dark sector can lead to survival of the required DM in the universe. The existence of a light mediator leads to the required self-interactions of DM at small scales while keeping DM properties similar to CDM at large scales. It also ensures that the symmetric DM component annihilates away, leaving the asymmetric part, in the spirit of cogenesis. The particle physics implementation is done in canonical seesaw models of light neutrino mass, connecting it to the origin of DM and BAU. In particular, we consider type-I and type-III seesaw origin of neutrino mass for simplicity and minimality of the field content. We show that the desired self-interactions and relic of DM together with BAU while satisfying relevant constraints lead to strict limits on DM mass $\mathcal{O}(\rm GeV) \lesssim M_{\rm DM} \lesssim460 $ GeV. In spite of being high scale seesaw, the models remain verifiable at different experiments including direct, indirect DM search as well as colliders.

We study the role of an ultra-light primordial black hole (PBH) dominated phase on the generation of baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) and dark matter (DM) in a type-I seesaw framework augmented by Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry which solves the strong CP problem. While the BAU is generated via leptogenesis from the decay of heavy right-handed neutrino (RHN) at the seesaw scale dictated by the PQ scale, DM can arise either from QCD axion or one of the RHNs depending upon the PQ scale. The ultra-light PBH not only affects the axion DM production via misalignment mechanism, but can also produce superheavy RHN DM via evaporation. Depending upon the PBH parameters and relative abundance of axion DM, axion mass can vary over a wide range from sub-$μ$eV to sub-eV keeping the detection prospects promising across a wide range of experiments. While hot axions produced from PBH evaporation can lead to observable $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ to be probed at future cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments, stochastic gravitational waves (GW) produced from PBH density fluctuations can be observed at future detectors like CE, DECIGO, LISA and even future runs of LIGO-VIRGO.

If such ultra-light PBH leads to an early matter domination, it can give rise to a doubly peaked gravitational wave (GW) spectrum in Hz-kHz ballpark with the low frequency peak generated from PBH density fluctuations being within near future experimental sensitivity. In the sub-dominant PBH regime, the FOPT generated GW spectrum comes within sensitivity due to absence of entropy dilution. In both the regimes, PBH mass from a few kg can be probed by GW experiments like BBO, ET, CE, UDECIGO etc. while DM mass gets restricted to the superheavy ballpark in the PBH dominance case. Apart from distinct DM mass ranges in the two scenarios, GW observations can differentiate by measuring their distinct spectral shapes.

The $U(1)_{B-L}$ symmetry provides a UV completion by naturally accommodating three right handed neutrinos from anomaly cancellation requirements which, in combination with the left handed neutrinos, form the sub-eV Dirac neutrinos after electroweak symmetry breaking. The particle content and the gauge charges are chosen in such a way that light neutrinos remain purely Dirac and dark matter, a gauge singlet Dirac fermion, remain stable. We consider both thermal and non-thermal production possibilities of dark matter and correlate the corresponding parameter space with the one within reach of future cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments sensitive to enhanced relativistic degrees of freedom $ΔN_{\rm eff}$. The interplay of dark matter, CMB, structure formation and other terrestrial constraints keep the scenario very predictive leading the $U(1)_{B-L}$ parameter space into tight corners.

In this work, we explore the intriguing possibility of connecting self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) with the recently observed exceptionally bright and long-duration Gamma Ray Burst (GRB221009A). The proposed minimal scenario involves a light scalar mediator, simultaneously enabling dark matter (DM) self-interaction and explaining the observed very high energy (VHE) photons from GRB221009A reported by LHAASO's data. The scalar's mixing with the standard model (SM) Higgs boson allows for its production at the GRB site, which will then propagate escaping attenuation by the extra-galactic background light (EBL). These scalars, if highly boosted, have the potential to explain LHAASO's data. Moreover, the same mixing also facilitates DM-nucleon or DM-electron scatterings at terrestrial detectors, linking SIDM phenomenology to the GRB221009A events. This manuscript presents the parameter space meeting all constraints and offers an exciting opportunity to explore SIDM in future direct search experiments using insights from the GRB observation.

Minimal framework of Dirac leptogenesis, as well as left-right symmetric model (LRSM) can lead to formation of DW due to spontaneous breaking of $Z_2$ symmetry. Considering the NANOGrav 15 yr data, we show that the scale of Dirac leptogenesis should be above $10^7$ GeV for conservative choices of Dirac Yukawa couplings with fine-tuning at the level of the SM. The scale of {\it minimal} LRSM is found to be more constrained $M_{\rm LR} \sim 10^6$ GeV in order to fit the NANOGrav 15 yr data. On the other hand, the {\it non-minimal} LRSM can be compatible with the NANOGrav data for $10^2 \, {\rm TeV} \lesssim M_{\rm LR} \lesssim 10^3$ TeV but with the corresponding $B-L$ breaking scale violating collider bounds.

Motivated by the recent release of new results from five different pulsar timing array (PTA) experiments claiming to have found compelling evidence for primordial gravitational waves (GW) at nano-Hz frequencies, we consider the prospects of generating such a signal from inflationary blue-tilted tensor power spectrum in a specific dark matter (DM) scenario dubbed as $\textit{Miracle-less WIMP}$. While $\textit{Miracle-less WIMP}$, due to insufficient interaction rate with the Standard Model (SM) bath gets thermally overproduced, inflationary blue-tilted gravitational waves (BGW) in compliance with PTA data, conflict cosmological observations if reheat temperature after inflation is sufficiently high. Both these issues are circumvented with late entropy dilution, bringing DM abundance within observational limits and creating a doubly-peaked feature in the BGW spectrum consistent with cosmological observations. The blue-tilted tail of the low-frequency peak can fit NANOGrav 15 yr data, while other parts of the spectrum are within reach of present and future GW experiments.

We propose a novel framework where baryon asymmetry of the universe can arise due to forbidden decay of dark matter (DM) enabled by finite-temperature effects in the vicinity of a first order phase transition (FOPT). In order to implement this novel cogenesis mechanism, we consider the extension of the standard model by one scalar doublet $η$, three right handed neutrinos (RHN), all odd under an unbroken $Z_2$ symmetry, popularly referred to as the scotogenic model of radiative neutrino mass. While the lightest RHN $N_1$ is the DM candidate and stable at zero temperature, there arises a temperature window prior to the nucleation temperature of the FOPT assisted by $η$, where $N_1$ can decay into $η$ and leptons generating a non-zero lepton asymmetry which gets converted into baryon asymmetry subsequently by sphalerons. The requirement of successful cogenesis together with a first order electroweak phase transition not only keep the mass spectrum of new particles in sub-TeV ballpark within reach of collider experiments but also leads to observable stochastic gravitational wave spectrum which can be discovered in planned experiments like LISA.

A dark $SU(2)_D$ gauge sector with a dark scalar doublet playing the role of inflaton is considered along with several doublet and singlet fermions sufficient to realise multiple inflection points in the inflaton potential. The singlet fermions couple to SM leptons and generate neutrino masses via the inverse seesaw mechanism. Those fermions also decay asymmetrically and out of equilibrium, generating a baryon asymmetry via leptogenesis. Some of the fermion doublets are dark matter, and they are produced via inflaton decay and freeze-in annihilation of the same fermions that generate the lepton asymmetry. We show that the detection prospects via cosmic microwave background (CMB) measurements of the effective relativistic degrees of freedom ${\rm ΔN_{eff}}$ get enhanced in some part of the parameter space compared to the purely non-thermal case where DR is produced solely from PBH. On the other hand, for certain part of the parameter space, DR which initially decouples from the bath followed by its production from PBH evaporation, can re-enter the thermal bath leading to much tighter constraints on the PBH parameter space. We also discuss the complementary detection prospects via observation of stochastic gravitational wave (GW) sourced by PBH density perturbations. The complementary probes offered by CMB and GW observations keep the detection prospects of such light degrees of freedom very promising in spite of limited discovery prospects at particle physics experiments.

We propose a novel framework where baryon asymmetry can arise due to forbidden decay of dark matter (DM) enabled by finite temperature effects in the early universe. In order to implement it in a realistic setup, we consider the DM to be a singlet Dirac fermion which acquires a dark asymmetry from a scalar field $Φ$ via Affleck-Dine mechanism. Due to finite-temperature effects, DM can decay in the early universe into leptons and a second Higgs doublet thereby transferring a part of the dark asymmetry into lepton asymmetry with the latter getting converted into baryon asymmetry subsequently via electroweak sphalerons. DM becomes stable below a critical temperature leading to a stable relic. While the scalar field $Φ$ can play the role of inflaton with specific predictions for inflationary parameters, the setup also remains verifiable via astrophysical as well as laboratory based observations.

A PBH-dominated phase leads to tilts in the spectrum via entropy dilution and generates a new GW spectrum from PBH density fluctuations, detectable at ongoing and planned near-future GW detectors. The combined spectrum has a unique shape with a plateau, a sharp tilted peak over the plateau, and a characteristic fall-off, which can be distinguished from the one generated in the combination of CS and any other matter domination or new exotic physics. While the FOPT at high scale is responsible for generating baryon asymmetry through leptogenesis and dark matter via the \textit{mass-gain} mechanism, the resulting GW spectrum falls within the ongoing LIGO-VIRGO experimental sensitivity. The dark matter is preferred to be in the non-thermal ballpark with sub-GeV masses and the criteria of successful dark matter relic rules out a large portion of the parameter space consistent with high scale FOPT and successful leptogenesis. Some part of the parameter space allowed from dark matter and leptogenesis criteria also gives rise to a large signal-to-noise ratio at ongoing experiments and hence can be disfavoured in a conservative way from the non-observation of such stochastic GW background. Future data from ongoing and planned experiments will offer a complementary and indirect probe of the remaining parameter space which is typically outside the reach of any direct experimental probe.

While the lepton asymmetry gets converted into baryon asymmetry via sphalerons, the dark sector asymmetry leads to the final DM abundance with the symmetric part being annihilated away due to resonantly enhanced annihilation, which we choose to be provided by a gauged $B-L$ portal. Stringent constraints from DM direct detection forces DM and $B-L$ gauge boson masses to be light, in the few GeV ballpark. While a large portion of the model parameter space is already ruled out, the remaining parameter space is within sensitivity of laboratory as well as cosmology based experiments. The AD field also plays the role of inflaton with the required dynamics by virtue of its non-minimal coupling to gravity, consistent with observations.

We propose a new way of probing non-thermal origin of baryon asymmetry of universe (BAU) and dark matter (DM) from evaporating primordial black holes (PBH) via stochastic gravitational waves (GW) emitted due to PBH density fluctuations. We adopt a baryogenesis setup where CP violating out-of-equilibrium decays of a coloured scalar, produced non-thermally at late epochs from PBH evaporation, lead to the generation of BAU. The same PBH evaporation is also responsible for non-thermal origin of superheavy DM. Unlike the case of baryogenesis {\it via leptogeneis} that necessarily corners the PBH mass to $\sim\mathcal{O}(1)$ g, here we can have PBH mass as large as $\sim\mathcal{O}(10^7)$ g due to the possibility of producing BAU directly below sphaleron decoupling temperature. Due to the larger allowed PBH mass we can also have observable GW with mHz-kHz frequencies originating from PBH density fluctuations keeping the model constrained and verifiable at ongoing as well as near future GW experiments like LIGO, BBO, DECIGO, CE, ET etc. Due to the presence of new coloured particles and baryon number violation, the model also has complementary detection prospects at laboratory experiments.

The Standard Model, extended with three right-handed (RH) neutrinos, is the simplest model that can explain light neutrino masses, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, and dark matter (DM). Models in which RH neutrinos are light are generally easier to test in experiments. In this work, we show that, even if the RH neutrinos are super-heavy ($M_{i=1,2,3}>10^9$ GeV) -- close to the Grand Unification scale -- the model can be tested thanks to its distinct features on the stochastic Gravitational Wave (GW) background. We consider an early Universe filled with ultralight primordial black holes (PBH) that produce a super-heavy RH neutrino DM via Hawking radiation. The other pair of RH neutrinos generates the baryon asymmetry via thermal leptogenesis, much before the PBHs evaporate. GW interferometers can test this novel spectrum of masses thanks to the GWs induced by the PBH density fluctuations. In a more refined version, wherein a $U(1)$ gauge symmetry breaking dynamically generates the seesaw scale, the PBHs also cause observable spectral distortions on the GWs from the $U(1)$-breaking cosmic strings. Thence, a low-frequency GW feature related to DM genesis and detectable with a pulsar-timing array must correspond to a mid- or high-frequency GW signature related to baryogenesis at interferometer scales.

Light dark matter (DM) in the GeV ballpark faces weaker constraint from direct detection experiments. If such DM also has sufficient self-interactions due to a light mediator, it can alleviate the small-scale problems of the cold dark matter (CDM) paradigm while being consistent with the latter at large scales, as suggested by astrophysical observations. However, generating correct thermal relic for such light DM is challenging. While GeV scale CDM typically leads to thermal overproduction due to the absence of sufficient annihilation channels, self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) typically has under-abundant thermal relic due to its large annihilation rates into mediator particles. In this letter, we propose a minimal realisation of GeV scale SIDM with correct thermal relic, where one of the three singlet fermions, responsible for seesaw origin of light neutrino masses, assists in generating correct SIDM relic density via freeze-out. The setup thereby encompasses astrophysical as well as cosmological aspects of light DM while simultaneously providing a solution to the origin of light neutrino mass. Due to such connection to several frontiers, there exist exciting discovery prospects in terms of direct and indirect search of DM, laboratory and cosmology based dark photon signatures and effective light neutrino mass.

We study the possibility of probing the radiative Dirac seesaw model with dark sector particles going inside the loop, popularly referred to as the Dirac scotogenic model via measurements of effective relativistic degrees of freedom ${\rm Δ{N_{eff}}}$ at cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments. The loop suppression and additional free parameters involved in neutrino mass generation allow large ($\sim\mathcal{O}(1))$ coupling of light Dirac neutrinos with the dark sector particles. Such large Yukawa coupling not only dictates the relic abundance of heavy fermion singlet dark matter but also can lead to the thermalisation of the right chiral part of Dirac neutrinos, generating additional relativistic degrees of freedom ${\rm Δ{N_{eff}}}$. We find that the parameter space consistent with dark matter phenomenology and neutrino mass bounds can also be probed at future cosmic microwave background experiments like CMB-S4 via precision measurements of ${\rm Δ{N_{eff}}}$. The same parameter space, while leading to loop-suppressed direct detection cross-section of dark matter outside future sensitivities, can also have other interesting and complementary observational prospects via charged lepton flavour violation and collider signatures.

We study the possibility of generating baryon asymmetry of the universe from dark matter (DM) annihilations during non-standard cosmological epochs. Considering the DM to be of weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) type, the generation of baryon asymmetry via leptogenesis route is studied where WIMP DM annihilation produces a non-zero lepton asymmetry. Adopting a minimal particle physics model to realise this along with non-zero light neutrino masses, we consider three different types of non-standard cosmic history namely, (i) fast expanding universe, (ii) early matter domination and (iii) scalar-tensor theory of gravity. By solving the appropriate Boltzmann equations incorporating such non-standard history, we find that the allowed parameter space consistent with DM relic and observed baryon asymmetry gets enlarged with the possibility of lower DM mass in some scenarios. While such lighter DM can face further scrutiny at direct search experiments, the non-standard epochs offer complementary probes on their own.

We propose a scenario where a high scale seesaw origin of light neutrino mass and gravitational dark matter (DM) in MeV-TeV ballpark originating from primordial black hole (PBH) evaporation can be simultaneously probed by future observations of stochastic gravitational wave (GW) background with multiple tilts or spectral breaks. A high scale breaking of an Abelian gauge symmetry ensures the dynamical origin of the seesaw scale while also leading to the formation of cosmic strings responsible for generating stochastic GW background. The requirement of a correct DM relic in this ballpark necessitates the inclusion of a diluter as PBH typically leads to DM overproduction. This leads to a second early matter dominated epoch after PBH evaporation due to the long-lived diluter. These two early matter dominated epochs, crucially connected to the DM relic, lead to multiple spectral breaks in the otherwise scale-invariant GW spectrum formed by cosmic strings. We find interesting correlations between DM mass and turning point frequencies of GW spectrum which are within reach of several near future experiments like LISA, BBO, ET, CE, etc.

We study a scenario where both dark matter and heavy right handed neutrino (RHN) responsible for leptogenesis acquire masses by crossing the relativistic bubble walls formed as a result of a TeV scale supercooled first order phase transition (FOPT). While this leads to a large out-of-equilibrium abundance of right handed neutrino inside the bubble sufficient to produce the required lepton asymmetry, the dark matter being lighter can still remain in equilibrium with its relic being set by subsequent thermal freeze-out. A classical conformal symmetry ensures the origin of mass via FOPT induced by a singlet scalar while also ensuring supercooling leading to enhanced gravitational wave amplitude within the sensitivity of the LISA experiment. A minimal scenario with three RHN, one inert scalar doublet and one singlet scalar as additional fields beyond the standard model is sufficient to realize this possibility which also favours inert RHN dark matter over inert scalar doublet.

We study a class of leptogenesis scenarios with decay or scattering being the source of lepton asymmetry, which can not only give rise to the observed baryon asymmetry in the universe but also can leave behind a large remnant neutrino asymmetry. Such large neutrino asymmetry can not only be probed at future cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiments but is also motivating due to its possible role in solving the recently reported anomalies in $^4{\rm He}$ measurements. Additionally, such large neutrino asymmetry also offers the possibility of cogenesis if dark matter is in the form of a sterile neutrino resonantly produced in the early universe via Shi-Fuller mechanism. Considering $1 \rightarrow 2, 1 \rightarrow 3$ as well as $2 \rightarrow 2$ processes to be responsible for generating the asymmetries, we show that only TeV scale leptogenesis preferably of $1 \rightarrow N \, (N \geq 3)$ type can generate the required lepton asymmetry around sphaleron temperature while also generating a large neutrino asymmetry $\sim \mathcal{O}(10^{-2})$ by the epoch of the big bang nucleosynthesis. While such low scale leptogenesis can have tantalising detection prospects at laboratory experiments, the indication of a large neutrino asymmetry provides a complementary indirect signature.

We study the possibility of probing the scale of left-right symmetry breaking in the context of left-right symmetric models (LRSM). In LRSM, the right handed fermions transform as doublets under a newly introduced $SU(2)_R$ gauge symmetry. This, along with a discrete parity symmetry $\mathcal{P}$ ensuring identical gauge couplings of left and right sectors make the model left-right symmetric, providing a dynamical origin of parity violation in electroweak interactions via spontaneous symmetry breaking. The spontaneous breaking of $\mathcal{P}$ leads to the formation of domain walls in the early universe. These walls, if made unstable by introducing an explicit parity breaking term, generate gravitational waves (GW) with a spectrum characterized by the wall tension or the spontaneous $\mathcal{P}$ breaking scale, and the explicit $\mathcal{P}$ breaking term. Considering explicit $\mathcal{P}$ breaking terms to originate from Planck suppressed operators provides one-to-one correspondence between the scale of left-right symmetry and sensitivities of near future GW experiments. This is not only complementary to collider and low energy probes of TeV scale LRSM but also to GW generated from first order phase transition in LRSM with different spectral shape, peak frequencies as well as symmetry breaking scales.

We propose a novel way of probing high scale Dirac leptogenesis, a viable alternative to canonical leptogenesis scenario where the total lepton number is conserved, keeping light standard model (SM) neutrinos purely Dirac. The simplest possible seesaw mechanism for generating light Dirac neutrinos involve heavy singlet Dirac fermions and a singlet scalar. In addition to unbroken global lepton number, a discrete $Z_2$ symmetry is imposed to forbid direct coupling between right and left chiral parts of light Dirac neutrino. Generating light Dirac neutrino mass requires the singlet scalar to acquire a vacuum expectation value (VEV) that also breaks the $Z_2$ symmetry, leading to formation of domain walls in the early universe. These walls, if made unstable by introducing a soft $Z_2$ breaking term, generate gravitational waves (GW) with a spectrum characterized by the wall tension or the singlet VEV, and the soft symmetry breaking scale. The scale of leptogenesis depends upon the $Z_2$-breaking singlet VEV which is also responsible for the tension of the domain wall, affecting the amplitude of GW produced from the collapsing walls. We find that most of the near future GW observatories will be able to probe Dirac leptogenesis scale all the way upto $10^{11}$ GeV.

We propose a scenario where dark matter (DM) can be generated non-thermally due to the presence of a light Dirac neutrino portal between the standard model (SM) and dark sector particles. The SM is minimally extended by three right handed neutrinos ($ν_R$), a Dirac fermion DM candidate ($ψ$) and a complex scalar ($φ$), transforming non-trivially under an unbroken $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry while being singlets under the SM gauge group. While DM and $ν_R$ couplings are considered to be tiny in order to be in the non-thermal or freeze-in regime, $φ$ can be produced either thermally or non-thermally depending upon the strength of its Higgs portal coupling. We consider both these possibilities and find out the resulting DM abundance via freeze-in mechanism to constrain the model parameters in the light of Planck 2018 data. Since the interactions producing DM also produces relativistic $ν_R$, we check the enhanced contribution to the effective relativistic degrees of freedom $Δ{\rm N}_{\rm eff}$ in view of existing bounds as well as future sensitivities. We also check the stringent constraints on free-streaming length of such freeze-in DM from structure formation requirements. Such constraints can rule out DM mass all the way up to $\mathcal{O}(100 \, {\rm keV})$ keeping the $Δ{\rm N}_{\rm eff} \leq \mathcal{O}(10^{-3})$, out of reach from near future experiments. Possible extensions of this minimal model can lead to observable $Δ{\rm N}_{\rm eff}$ which can be probed at next generation experiments.

We propose a novel probe of weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter (DM) candidates of a wide mass range which fall short of the required annihilation rates to satisfy correct thermal relic abundance, dubbed as \textit{Miracle-less WIMP}. If the DM interactions are mediated by an Abelian gauge boson like B-L, its annihilation rates typically remain smaller than the WIMP ballpark for very high scale B-L symmetry breaking, leading to overproduction. The thermally overproduced relic is brought within observed limits via late entropy dilution from one of the three right handed neutrinos (RHN) present for keeping the model anomaly free and generating light neutrino masses. Such late entropy injection leads to peculiar spectral shapes of gravitational waves (GW) generated by cosmic strings, formed as a result of B-L symmetry breaking. We find interesting correlation between DM mass and turning frequency of the GW spectrum with the latter being within reach of future experiments. The two other RHNs play major role in generating light neutrino masses and baryon asymmetry of the universe via leptogenesis. Successful leptogenesis with Miracle-less WIMP together restrict the turning frequencies to lie within the sensitivity limits of near future GW experiments.

We propose a novel and minimal framework where a light scalar field can give rise to dark matter (DM) self-interactions, while enhancing the CP symmetry required for successful baryon asymmetry of the Universe via leptogenesis route. For demonstration purpose we choose to work in a scotogenic seesaw scenario where the lightest among the right handed neutrinos (RHN), introduced for generating light neutrino masses radiatively, play the role of DM while the heavier two can play non-trivial roles in generating DM relic as well as lepton asymmetry. While dark matter self-interactions mediated by an additional singlet scalar can alleviate the small scale issues of cold dark matter paradigm, the same scalar can give rise to new one-loop decay processes of heavy RHN into standard model leptons providing an enhanced contribution to CP asymmetry, even with sub-TeV scale RHN mass. The thermally under-abundant relic of DM due to large annihilation rates into its light mediator receives a late non-thermal contribution from a heavier RHN. With only five new particles involved in the scotogenic seesaw, each having non-trivial roles in generating DM relic and baryon asymmetry, the model can explain non-zero neutrino mass while being verifiable at different experiments related to DM direct detection, flavour physics and colliders. The mechanism we demonstrated here by using a scotogenic seesaw scenario is also applicable to other models.

We study the possibility of cogenesis of baryon and dark matter (DM) from the out-of-equilibrium CP violating decay of right handed neutrino (RHN) that are dominantly of non-thermal origin. While the RHN and its heavier partners can take part in light neutrino mass generation via Type-I seesaw mechanism, the decay of RHN into dark and visible sectors can create respective asymmetries simultaneously. The non-thermal sources of RHN considered are {\bf (a)} on-shell decay of inflaton, and {\bf (b)} evaporation of ultralight primordial black holes (PBH). After setting up the complete set of Boltzmann equations in both these scenarios, we constrain the resulting parameter space of the particle physics setup, along with inflaton and PBH sectors from the requirement of generating correct (asymmetric) DM abundance and baryon asymmetry, while being in agreement with other relevant cosmological bounds. Scenario {\bf (a)} links the common origin of DM and baryon asymmetry to post-inflationary reheating via RHNs produced in inflaton decay, whereas in scenario {\bf (b)} we find enhancement of baryon and DM abundance, compared to the purely thermal scenarios, in presence of PBH with appropriate mass and initial fraction. Although the minimal setup itself is very predictive with observational consequences, details of the UV completion of the dark sector can offer several complementary probes.

We investigate the possibility of keV scale thermal dark matter (DM) in a gauged $B - L$ extension of the standard model with three right-handed neutrinos (RHN) and one vector like fermion in the context of cosmic inflation. The complex singlet scalar field responsible for the spontaneous breaking of $B-L$ gauge symmetry is non-minimally coupled to gravity and serves the role of inflaton. The keV scale vector like fermion DM gives rise to the possibility of warm dark matter, but it gets overproduced thermally. The subsequent entropy dilution due to one of the RHN decay can bring the thermal abundance of DM within the observed limit. The dynamics of both the DM and the diluter are regulated by the $B-L$ model parameters which are also restricted by the requirement of successful inflationary dynamics. We constrain the model parameter space from the requirement of producing sufficient entropy dilution to obtain correct DM relic, inflationary observables along with other phenomenological constraints. Interestingly, we obtain unique predictions for the order of lightest active neutrino mass ($m_{ν_l}\lesssim 10^{-14}$ eV) as function of $B-L$ gauge coupling for keV scale DM. The proposed framework also explains the origin of observed baryon asymmetry from the decay of other two heavier RHN by overcoming the entropy dilution effect.

The dark sector consists of a particle DM, assumed to be a Dirac fermion, and a light mediator in terms of a dark Abelian vector boson to give rise to the required velocity dependent self-interactions in agreement with astrophysical observations. Irrespective of thermal or non-thermal production of such a DM, its final relic remains under-abundant due to efficient annihilation rates of DM into light mediators by virtue of large self-interaction coupling. We then show that a feeble portal of DM-SM interaction via RHN offers a possibility to fill the relic deficit of DM via the late decay of RHN. As RHN also arises naturally in seesaw models explaining the origin of light neutrino masses, we outline two UV complete realizations of the minimal setup in terms of scotogenic and gauged B-L frameworks where connection to neutrino mass and other phenomenology like complementary discovery prospects are discussed.

We study a dark $SU(2)_D$ gauge extension of the standard model (SM) with the possibility of a strong first order phase transition (FOPT) taking place below the electroweak scale in the light of NANOGrav 12.5 yr data. As pointed out recently by the NANOGrav collaboration, gravitational waves (GW) from such a FOPT with appropriate strength and nucleation temperature can explain their 12.5 yr data. We impose a classical conformal invariance on the scalar potential of $SU(2)_D$ sector involving only a complex scalar doublet with negligible couplings with the SM Higgs. While a FOPT at sub-GeV temperatures can give rise to stochastic GW around nano-Hz frequencies being in agreement with NANOGrav findings, the $SU(2)_D$ vector bosons which acquire masses as a result of the FOPT in dark sector, can also serve as dark matter (DM) in the universe. The relic abundance of such vector DM can be generated in a non-thermal manner from the SM bath via scalar portal mixing. We also discuss future sensitivity of gravitational wave experiments to the model parameter space.

We study an Abelian gauge extension of the standard model with fermion families having non-universal gauge charges. The gauge charges and scalar content are chosen in such an anomaly-free way that only the third generation fermions receive Dirac masses via renormalisable couplings with the Higgs boson. Incorporating additional vector like fermions and scalars with appropriate $U(1)$ charges can lead to radiative Dirac masses of first two generations with neutral fermions going in the loop being dark matter candidates. Focusing on radiative muon mass, we constrain the model from the requirement of satisfying muon mass, recently measured muon anomalous magnetic moment by the E989 experiment at Fermilab along with other experimental bounds including the large hadron collider (LHC) limits. The anomalous Higgs coupling to muon is constrained from the LHC measurements of Higgs to dimuon decay. The singlet fermion dark matter phenomenology is discussed showing the importance of both annihilation and coannihilation effects. Incorporating all bounds lead to a constrained parameter space which can be probed at different experiments.

We study an extension of the minimal gauged $L_μ-L_τ$ model in order to explain the anomalous magnetic moments of muon and electron simultaneously. Presence of an additional scalar doublet $η$ and an in-built $Z_2$ symmetry under which the right handed singlet fermions and $η$ are odd, leads to light neutrino mass in scotogenic fashion along with a stable dark matter candidate. In spite of the possibility of having positive and negative contributions to $(g-2)$ from vector boson and charged scalar loops respectively, the minimal scotogenic $L_μ-L_τ$ model can not explain muon and electron $(g-2)$ simultaneously while being consistent with other experimental bounds. We then extend the model with a vector like lepton doublet which not only leads to a chirally enhanced negative contribution to electron $(g-2)$ but also leads to the popular singlet-doublet fermion dark matter scenario. With this extension, the model can explain both electron and muon $(g-2)$ while being consistent with neutrino mass, dark matter and other direct search bounds. The model remains predictive at high energy experiments like collider as well as low energy experiments looking for charged lepton flavour violation, dark photon searches, in addition to future $(g-2)$ measurements.

We present a self-interacting boosted dark matter (DM) scenario as a possible explanation of the recently reported excess of electron recoil events by the XENON1T experiment. The Standard Model (SM) has been extended with two vector-like fermion singlets charged under a dark $U(1)_D$ gauge symmetry to describe the dark sector. While the presence of light vector boson mediator leads to sufficient DM self-interactions to address the small scale issues of cold dark matter, the model with sub-GeV scale DM can explain the XENON1T excess via elastic scattering of boosted DM component with electrons at the detector. Strong annihilation of DM into the light mediator leads to a suppressed thermal relic. A hybrid setup of dark freeze-out and non-thermal contribution from the late decay of a scalar can lead to correct relic abundance. We fit our model with XENON1T data and also find the final parameter space consistent with self-interaction of DM, DM-electron scattering rate, as well as astrophysical and cosmological observations. A tiny parameter space consistent with all these constraints and requirements can be further scrutinized in near-future experiments.

The minimal setup allows TeV scale resonant leptogenesis satisfying light neutrino data while the existence of light $L_μ-L_τ$ gauge boson affects the scale of leptogenesis as the right handed neutrinos are charged under it. For $L_μ-L_τ$ gauge boson mass at GeV scale or above, the muon $(g-2)$ favoured parameter space is already ruled out by other experimental data while bringing down its mass to sub-GeV regime leads to vanishing lepton asymmetry due to highly restrictive structures of lepton mass matrices at the scale of leptogenesis. Extending the minimal model with two additional Higgs doublets can lead to a scenario consistent with successful resonant leptogenesis and muon $(g-2)$ while satisfying all relevant experimental data.

We study a possibility of a strong first-order phase transition (FOPT) taking place below the electroweak scale in the context of $U(1)_D$ gauge extension of the standard model. As pointed out recently by the NANOGrav collaboration, gravitational waves from such a phase transition with appropriate strength and nucleation temperature can explain their 12.5 yr data. We first find the parameter space of this minimal model consistent with NANOGrav findings considering only a complex singlet scalar and $U(1)_D$ vector boson. Existence of a singlet fermion charged under $U(1)_D$ can give rise to dark matter in this model, preferably of non-thermal type, while incorporating additional fields can also generate light neutrino masses through typical low scale seesaw mechanisms like radiative or inverse seesaw.

We study the possibility of low scale leptogenesis along with dark matter (DM) in the presence of primordial black holes (PBH). For a common setup to study both leptogenesis and DM we consider the minimal scotogenic model which also explains light neutrino mass at radiative level. While PBH in the mass range of $0.1-10^5$ g can, in principle, affect leptogenesis, the required initial PBH fraction usually leads to overproduction of scalar doublet DM whose thermal freeze-out occurs before PBH evaporation. PBH can lead to non-thermal source of leptogenesis as well as dilution of thermally generated lepton asymmetry via entropy injection, with the latter being dominant. The parameter space of scotogenic model which leads to overproduction of baryon or lepton asymmetry in standard cosmology can be made consistent in the presence of PBH with appropriate initial mass and energy fraction. On the other hand, for such PBH parameters, the scalar DM is constrained to be in light mass regime where its freeze-out occurs after PBH evaporation. We then discuss the possibility of fermion singlet DM with $N_2$ leptogenesis in the same model where due to singlet nature of DM, its connection with PBH parameters and hence leptogenesis becomes stronger compared to the previous case.

We show that the same neutral gauge boson responsible for generating the required muon $(g-2)$ can also mediate interactions between electron and dark fermions boosted by dark matter annihilation. The required DM annihilation rate into dark fermion require a hybrid setup of thermal and non-thermal mechanisms to generate DM relic density. The tightly constrained parameter space from all requirements remain sensitive to ongoing and near future experiments, keeping the scenario very predictive.

We propose a Dirac neutrino portal dark matter scenario by minimally extending the particle content of the Standard Model (SM) with three right handed neutrinos ($ν_R$), a Dirac fermion dark matter candidate ($ψ$) and a complex scalar ($φ$), all of which are singlets under the SM gauge group. An additional $\mathbb{Z}_4$ symmetry has been introduced for the stability of dark matter candidate $ψ$ and also ensuring the Dirac nature of light neutrinos at the same time. Both the right handed neutrinos and the dark matter thermalise with the SM plasma due to a new Yukawa interaction involving $ν_R$, $ψ$ and $φ$ while the latter maintains thermal contact via the Higgs portal interaction. The decoupling of $ν_R$ occurs when $φ$ loses its kinetic equilibrium with the SM plasma and thereafter all three $\mathbb{Z}_4$ charged particles form an equilibrium among themselves with a temperature $T_{ν_R}$. The dark matter candidate $ψ$ finally freezes out within the dark sector and preserves its relic abundance. We have found that in the present scenario, some portion of low mass dark matter ($M_ψ\lesssim10$ GeV) is already excluded by the Planck 2018 data for keeping $ν_R$s in the thermal bath below a temperature of 600 MeV and thereby producing an excess contribution to $N_{\rm eff}$. The next generation experiments like CMB-S4, SPT-3G etc. will have the required sensitivities to probe the entire model parameter space of this minimal scenario, especially the low mass range of $ψ$ where direct detection experiments are still not capable enough for detection.

We study a minimal scenario to realize non-thermal leptogenesis and UV freeze-in of a Standard Model (SM) gauge singlet fermionic dark matter (DM) simultaneously, with inflaton field playing a non-trivial role in their yields. The renormalizable interactions are restricted to the SM fields, two right handed neutrinos (RHN) and inflaton coupling exclusively to the RHNs, while the DM couples to both the SM and the RHNs only via operators of dimension $d>4$. Considering two separate cases of $d=\{5,6\}$, we show that for $d=5$, inflaton decay into RHNs followed by their subsequent decay into SM particles lead to both reheating as well as DM production from the SM bath. This requires a cut-off scale as large as $Λ\sim 10^{17}~\rm GeV$ depending on the DM mass. On the other hand, for $d=6$, DM production happens directly from scattering of RHNs (for $Λ\gtrsim 10^{14}~\rm GeV$) that results in a very non-trivial evolution of the DM yield. In both these cases, it is possible to explain the observed baryon asymmetry through successful non-thermal leptogenesis via the decay of the RHNs, together with the PLANCK observed relic density of the DM via pure UV freeze-in mechanism. Taking into account both instantaneous as well as non-instantaneous reheating separately, we constrain the parameter space of this minimal scenario from relevant phenomenological requirements including sub-eV scale active neutrino masses and their mixing.

Two quasi-degenerate Majorana fermion DM interact within themselves via a light hidden sector massive gauge boson and with the standard model particles via gauge kinetic mixing. We also consider an additional long-lived singlet scalar which helps in realising correct dark matter relic abundance via a hybrid setup comprising of both freeze-in and freeze-out mechanisms. While being consistent with the required DM phenomenology along with sufficient self-interactions to address the small scale issues of cold dark matter, the model with GeV scale DM can explain the XENON1T excess via inelastic down scattering of heavier DM component into the lighter one. All these requirements leave a very tiny parameter space keeping the model very predictive for near future experiments.

We propose a gauged $B-L$ extension of the standard model (SM) where light neutrinos are of Dirac type by virtue of tiny Yukawa couplings with the SM Higgs. To achieve leptogenesis, we include additional heavy Majorana fermions without introducing any $B-L$ violation by two units. An additional scalar doublet with appropriate $B-L$ charge can allow heavy fermion coupling with the SM leptons so that out of equilibrium decay of the former can lead to generation of lepton asymmetry. Due to the $B-L$ gauge interactions of the decaying fermion, the criteria of successful Dirac leptogenesis can also constrain the gauge sector couplings so as to keep the corresponding washout processes under control. The same $B-L$ gauge sector parameter space can also be constrained from dark matter requirements if the latter is assumed to be a SM singlet particle with non-zero $B-L$ charge. The same $B-L$ gauge interactions also lead to additional thermalised relativistic degrees of freedom $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ from light Dirac neutrinos which are tightly constrained by Planck 2018 data. While there exists parameter space from the criteria of successful low scale Dirac leptogenesis, dark matter and $ΔN_{\rm eff}$ even after incorporating the latest collider bounds, all the currently allowed parameters can be probed by future measurements of $ΔN_{\rm eff}$.

We propose a minimal framework to address successful quartic inflation, dark matter (DM) production in the early universe and non-vanishing tiny Majorana neutrino mass from a common gravitational origin point of view. In this setup, the quartic inflation is revived successfully via non-minimal coupling of inflaton to gravity while the production of DM takes place from purely gravitational effects through a misalignment mechanism. The generation of light Majorana neutrino mass is aided by explicit breaking of global lepton number symmetry through Planck suppressed operators involving non-zero vacuum expectation value (VEV) of the inflaton field. We present a detailed study of the DM yield in presence of non-minimal inflation, considering both the metric and the Palatini formalisms of gravity wherever appropriate. We reach at some interesting and different results in the DM sector compared to the earlier works in the similar direction with minimal inflationary background. Restricting to the light DM regime ($\mathcal{O}(1)$ keV- $\mathcal{O}(100)$ MeV) where classical production is expected to dominate over the quantum production, we numerically predict the DM mass by varying the DM quartic and non-minimal coupling, to be consistent with relic density requirements. We also obtain some non-trivial dependence of DM phenomenology on some of the relevant parameters of the inflation sector {\it e.g.} non minimal coupling and inflaton VEV. To explore the dependence on inflationary parameters further, we also estimate the DM relic using the same mechanism for two other inflationary models consistent with latest data and observe that one of these models predicts different range of DM mass upto hundreds of TeV.
