Search for axion-like dark matter through nuclear spin precession in electric and magnetic fields

Abstract: We report on a search for ultra-low-mass axion-like dark matter by analysing the ratio of the spin-precession frequencies of stored ultracold neutrons and $^{199}$Hg atoms for an axion-induced oscillating electric dipole moment of the neutron and an axion-wind spin-precession effect. No signal consistent with dark matter is observed for the axion mass range… ▽ More We report on a search for ultra-low-mass axion-like dark matter by analysing the ratio of the spin-precession frequencies of stored ultracold neutrons and $^{199}$Hg atoms for an axion-induced oscillating electric dipole moment of the neutron and an axion-wind spin-precession effect. No signal consistent with dark matter is observed for the axion mass range $10^{-24}~\textrm{eV} \le m_a \le 10^{-17}~\textrm{eV}$. Our null result sets the first laboratory constraints on the coupling of axion dark matter to gluons, which improve on astrophysical limits by up to 3 orders of magnitude, and also improves on previous laboratory constraints on the axion coupling to nucleons by up to a factor of 40. △ Less

Spectroscopic Evidence for Appearance of a New Decretion Disk Around IGR J06074+2205

Abstract: We report about new episode of decretion disk formation in the IGR J06074+2205 system. Obtained spectral data gives us opportunity to measure peak separation in double-peaked Hα line as 408+/-55 km/s and hence obtain disk radii as 1.6 star radii. All these facts may says about possible X-ray activity of IGR J06074+2205 in the nearest future. We report about new episode of decretion disk formation in the IGR J06074+2205 system. The first spectra for the RX J0440.9+4431 from 2m Terskol telescope

Abstract: We present the first results on the spectra of Be/X-ray binary RX J0440.9+4431 obtained with the 2m Ritchey-Cretein-Coude telescope with Cassegrain Multi Mode Spectrograph (CMMS) (with R = 14000) at Terskol observatory. The H-alpha line profile indicates that the new episode of the V/R variability is occuring in the system. We compared our H-alpha line profile parameters with the previous results from the literature and estimated characteristic time scale for disc changes as about 14 years. △ Less
