Nuclear astrophysics is an interdisciplinary research field of nuclear physics and astrophysics, seeking for the answer to a question, how to understand the evolution of the Universe with the nuclear processes which we learn. We review the research activities of nuclear astrophysics in east and southeast Asia which includes astronomy, experimental and theoretical nuclear physics and astrophysics. Several hot topics such as the Li problems, critical nuclear reactions and properties in stars, properties of dense matter, r-process nucleosynthesis and $ν$-process nucleosynthesis are chosen and discussed in further details. Some future Asian facilities, together with physics perspectives, are introduced.

We present a methodical study of the thermal and nuclear properties for the hot nuclear matter using relativistic-mean field theory. We examine the effects of temperature on the binding energy, pressure, thermal index, symmetry energy, and its derivative for the symmetric nuclear matter using temperature-dependent relativistic mean-field formalism for the well-known G2$^{*}$ and recently developed IOPB-I parameter sets. The critical temperature for the liquid-gas phase transition in an asymmetric nuclear matter system has also been calculated and collated with the experimentally available data. We investigate the approach of the thermal index as a function of nucleon density in the wake of relativistic and non-relativistic formalism. The computation of neutrino emissivity through the direct Urca process for the supernovae remnants has also been performed, which manifests some exciting results about the thermal stabilization and evolution of the newly born proto-neutron star. The central temperature and the maximum mass of the proto-neutron star have also been calculated for different entropy values.

We propose a density-dependent function for the attractive interaction in the original van der Waals model to correctly describe the flow constraint at the high-density regime of the symmetric nuclear matter. After a generalization to asymmetric nuclear matter, it was also possible to study the stellar matter regime from this new model. The mass-radius relation for neutron stars under $β$-equilibrium is found to agree with recent X-ray observations. The neutron star masses supported against gravity, obtained from some parametrizations of the model, are in the range of $(1.97-2.07)M_{\odot}$, compatible with observational data from the PSR J0348+0432 pulsar. Furthermore, we verify the reliability of the model in predicting tidal deformabilities of the binary system related to the GW170817 neutron star merger event and find a full agreement with the new bounds obtained by the LIGO/Virgo collaboration.

In the present work we used five different versions of the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model to compute astrophysical quantities related to the GW170817 event and to neutron star cooling process. Two of the models are based on the original bag potential structure and three versions consider a harmonic oscillator potential to confine the quarks. The bag-like models also incorporate the pasta phase used to describe the inner crust of neutron stars. We show that the pasta phase always play a minor or negligible role in all studies. Moreover, while no clear correlation between the models that satisfy the GW170817 constraints and the slope of the symmetry energy is found, a clear correlation is observed between the slope and the fact that the cooling is fast or slow, i.e., fast (slow) cooling is related to higher (lower) values of the slope. We did not find one unique model that can describe, at the same time, GW170817 constraints and give a perfect description of the possible cooling processes.

Using the nuclear equation of states for a large variety of relativistic and non-relativistic force parameters, we calculate the static and rotating masses and radii of neutron stars. From these equation of states, we also evaluate the properties of rotating neutron stars, such as rotational and gravitational frequencies, moment of inertia, quadrupole deformation parameter, rotational ellipcity and gravitational wave strain amplitude. The estimated gravitational wave strain amplitude of the star is found to be $\sim 10^{-23}$.
