KG (Knowledge Generation) and understanding have traditionally been a Human-centric activity. KE (Knowledge Engineering) and KM (Knowledge Management) have tried to augment human knowledge on two separate planes: the first deals with machine interpretation of knowledge while the later explore interactions in human networks for KG and understanding. However, both remain computer-centric. Crowdsourced HC (Human Computations) have recently utilized human cognition and memory to generate diverse knowledge streams on specific tasks, which are mostly easy for humans to solve but remain challenging for machine algorithms. Literature shows little work on KM frameworks for citizen crowds, which gather input from the diverse category of Humans, organize that knowledge concerning tasks and knowledge categories and recreate new knowledge as a computer-centric activity. In this paper, we present an attempt to create a framework by implementing a simple solution, called ExamCheck, to focus on the generation of knowledge, feedback on that knowledge and recording the results of that knowledge in academic settings. Our solution, based on HC, shows that a structured KM framework can address a complex problem in a context that is important for participants themselves.

Ad hoc network enables network creation on the fly without support of any predefined infrastructure. The spontaneous erection of networks in anytime and anywhere fashion enables development of various novel applications based on ad hoc networks. However, at the same ad hoc network presents several new challenges. Different research proposals have came forward to resolve these challenges. This chapter provides a survey of current issues, solutions and research trends in wireless ad hoc network. Even though various surveys are already available on the topic, rapid developments in recent years call for an updated account on this topic. The chapter has been organized as follows. In the first part of the chapter, various ad hoc network's issues arising at different layers of TCP/IP protocol stack are presented. An overview of research proposals to address each of these issues is also provided. The second part of the chapter investigates various emerging models of ad hoc networks, discusses their distinctive properties and highlights various research issues arising due to these properties. We specifically provide discussion on ad hoc grids, ad hoc clouds, wireless mesh networks and cognitive radio ad hoc networks. The chapter ends with presenting summary of the current research on ad hoc network, ignored research areas and directions for further research.

Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an infrastructure-less network formed between a set of mobile nodes. The discovery of services in MANET is a challenging job due to the unique properties of network. In this paper, a novel service discovery framework called Hybrid Association Rules Based Network Layer Discovery of Services for Ad hoc Networks (HANDY) has been proposed. HANDY provides three major research contributions. At first, it adopts a cross-layer optimized design for discovery of services that is based on simultaneous discovery of services and corresponding routes. Secondly, it provides a multi-level ontology-based approach to describe the services. This resolves the issue of semantic interoperability among the service consumers in a scalable fashion. Finally, to further optimize the performance of the discovery process, HANDY recommends exploiting the inherent associations present among the services. These associations are used in two ways. First, periodic service advertisements are performed based on these associations. In addition, when a response of a service discovery request is generated, correlated services are also attached with the response. The proposed service discovery scheme has been implemented in JIST/SWANS simulator. The results demonstrate that the proposed modifications give rise to improvement in hit ratio of the service consumers and latency of discovery process.
