Thermal superpotential in designer gravity
Abstract: This study focuses on thermal superpotentials in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes. We study the thermal superpotential and its use as a counterterm for the renormalization of the gravitational action in designer AdS theories with a self-interacting scalar field. Our findings, which are consistent with prior works, demonstrate that, for the thermal superpotential to be a suitable counterter… ▽ More

Exact hairy black holes asymptotically $AdS_{2+1}$
Abstract: We present a family of $AdS_{2+1}$ asymptotically hairy black holes, within the context of Einstein's minimally coupled scalar field theory. We study the boundary conditions and construct the thermal superpotential. In the Euclidean section, we calculate the free energy and in the Lorentzian section, the Brown-York tensor, both regularized by two methods. Finally, we calculate the relevant thermod… ▽ More

Anomalous changing of geodesics in hairy black holes
Abstract: We study the motion of test particles and the propagation of light around neutral hairy black holes under the influence of a self-interacting real scalar field minimally coupled to gravity. The goal of the present work is to show that the time-like and null-like geodesics have an anomalous behaviour for a special range of parameters in the dense hair region, defined as… ▽ More

Holography of AdS Hairy Black Holes and Cardy-Verlinde Formula
Abstract: We discuss some aspects related to holography of Anti-de Sitter (AdS) dyonic hairy black holes, which break the conformal symetry of the boundary. We use counterterms for the scalar field that satisfies mixed boundary conditions to compute the Euclidean action and dual stress tensor. We apply these results to show that the Cardy-Verlinde formula is not satisfied. However, when the magnetic (or ele… ▽ More

Exact holographic RG flows in extended SUGRA
Abstract: We present a family of exact planar hairy neutral black hole solutions in extended supergravity with Fayet-Iliopoulos (FI) terms. We consider a model where the magnetic part of FI sector vanishes and obtain the superpotential at finite temperature in analytic form. Then, we discuss the thermodynamics and some holographic properties of these solutions. We regularize the action by two different meth… ▽ More

Phase transitions of neutral planar hairy AdS black holes
Abstract: We investigate the phase diagram of a general class of $4$-dimensional exact regular hairy planar black holes. For some particular values of the parameters in the moduli potential, these solutions can be embedded in $ω$-deformed $\mathcal{N}=8$ gauged supergravity. We construct the hairy soliton that is the ground state of the theory and show that there exist first order phase transitions.

Thermodynamically stable asymptotically flat hairy black holes with a dilaton potential
Abstract: We present a detailed analysis of the thermodynamics of exact asymptotically flat hairy black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We compute the regularized action, quasilocal stress tensor, and conserved charges by using a `counterterm method' similar to the one extensively used in the AdS-CFT duality. In the presence of a non-trivial dilaton potential that vanishes at the boundary we prove… ▽ More

Scalar charges and the first law of black hole thermodynamics
Abstract: We present a variational formulation of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory in flat spacetime, when the asymptotic value of the scalar field is not fixed. We obtain the boundary terms that make the variational principle well posed and then compute the finite gravitational action and corresponding Brown-York stress tensor. We show that the total energy has a new contribution that depends of the asympto… ▽ More

Periapsis shift and deflection of light by hairy black holes
Abstract: We investigate the orbit equations and the eikonal equation for light respectively, under influence of the hairy black holes (asymptotically flat) in four dimensions. We consider two hairy black hole solutions with non-trivial potentials, and one of these solutions has Schwarzschild case as a smooth limit. Following to Landau and Lifshitz, we use the Hamilton-Jacobi method, and we show hairy corre… ▽ More

Hairy AdS Solitons
Abstract: We construct exact hairy AdS soliton solutions in Einstein-dilaton gravity theory. We examine their thermodynamic properties and discuss the role of these solutions for the existence of first order phase transitions for hairy black holes. The negative energy density associated to hairy AdS solitons can be interpreted as the Casimir energy that is generated in the dual filed theory when the fermion… ▽ More

Trace Anomaly and Counterterms in Designer Gravity
Abstract: We construct concrete counterterms of the Balasubramanian-Kraus type for Einstein-scalar theories with designer gravity boundary conditions in AdS$_{4}$, so that the total action is finite on-shell and satisfy a well defined variational principle for an arbitrary scalar field potential. We focus on scalar fields with the conformal mass, $m^{2}=-2l^{-2}$, and show that the holographic mass matches… ▽ More

On the thermodynamics of hairy black holes
Abstract: We investigate the thermodynamics of a general class of exact 4-dimensional asymptotically Anti-de Sitter hairy black hole solutions and show that, for a fixed temperature, there are small and large hairy black holes similar to the Schwarzschild-AdS black hole. The large black holes have positive specific heat and so they can be in equilibrium with a thermal bath of radiation at the Hawking temper… ▽ More
