We extend the evolution mapping approach, originally proposed by Sanchez (2022) to describe non-linear matter density fluctuations, to statistics of the cosmic velocity field. This framework classifies cosmological parameters into shape parameters, which determine the shape of the linear matter power spectrum, $P_L(k, z)$, and evolution parameters, which control its amplitude at any given redshift. Evolution mapping leverages the fact that density fluctuations in cosmologies with identical shape parameters but different evolution parameters exhibit remarkably similar non-linear evolutions when expressed as a function of the clustering amplitude. We use a suite of N-body simulations sharing identical shape parameters but spanning a wide range of evolution parameters. Using an efficient method for estimating the volume-weighted velocity field based on the Voronoi tesselation of the simulation particles, we study the non-linear evolution of the power spectra of the velocity divergence, $P_{θθ}(k)$, and its cross-power spectrum with the density field, $P_{δθ}(k)$. By analysing snapshots at redshifts where the linear matter perturbations have the same amplitude, we demonstrate that evolution mapping accurately applies to $P_{θθ}(k)$ and $P_{δθ}(k)$. Deviations at small scales can be modelled in terms of differences in the suppression factor, $g(a) = D(a)/a$, akin to those observed for the density field. Evolution mapping simplifies the description of the cosmological dependence of non-linear density and velocity statistics, streamlining the sampling of large cosmological parameter spaces for the analysis of cosmological observables.

Modified gravity (MG) theories have emerged as a promising alternative to explain the late-time acceleration of the Universe. However, the detection of MG in observations of the large-scale structure remains challenging due to the screening mechanisms that obscure any deviations from General Relativity (GR) in high-density regions. The marked two-point correlation function offers a promising approach to potentially detect MG signals. This work investigates novel marks based on large-scale environment estimates but also that exploit the anti-correlation between objects in low- and high-density regions. This is the first time discreteness effects in density-dependent marked correlation functions are investigated in depth. We assess the performance of various marks to distinguish GR from MG by using the ELEPHANT simulations, comprised of realisations of GR as well as $f(R)$ and nDGP gravity. In addition, discreteness effects are studied using the high-density Covmos catalogues. We establish a robust method to correct for shot-noise effects that allows the recovery of the true signal with an accuracy below $5\%$ over a wide range of scales. We find such correction to be crucial to measure the amplitude of the marked correlation function in an unbiased manner. Furthermore, we demonstrate that marks, anti-correlating objects in low- and high-density regions, are among the most effective in distinguishing between MG and GR. We report differences in the marked correlation function between $f(R)$ with $|f_{R0}|=10^{-6}$ and GR simulations of the order of 3-5$σ$ in real space up to scales of about $80\, h^{-1} \, {\rm Mpc}$. The redshift-space monopole exhibits similar features and performances. The combination of the proposed $\tanh$-mark with shot-noise correction paves the way towards an optimal approach for the detection of MG in current and future galaxy spectroscopic surveys.

The current standard model of cosmology successfully describes a variety of measurements, but the nature of its main ingredients, dark matter and dark energy, remains unknown. Euclid is a medium-class mission in the Cosmic Vision 2015-2025 programme of the European Space Agency (ESA) that will provide high-resolution optical imaging, as well as near-infrared imaging and spectroscopy, over about 14,000 deg^2 of extragalactic sky. In addition to accurate weak lensing and clustering measurements that probe structure formation over half of the age of the Universe, its primary probes for cosmology, these exquisite data will enable a wide range of science. This paper provides a high-level overview of the mission, summarising the survey characteristics, the various data-processing steps, and data products. We also highlight the main science objectives and expected performance.

Data analysis from upcoming large galaxy redshift surveys, such as Euclid and DESI will significantly improve constraints on cosmological parameters. To optimally extract the information from these galaxy surveys, it is important to control with a high level of confidence the uncertainty and bias arising from the estimation of the covariance that affects the inference of cosmological parameters. In this work, we are addressing two different but closely related issues: (i) the sampling noise present in a covariance matrix estimated from a finite set of simulations and (ii) the impact on cosmological constraints of the non-Gaussian contribution to the covariance matrix of the power spectrum. We focus on the parameter estimation obtained from fitting the matter power spectrum in real space, using the DEMNUni N-body simulations. Regarding the first issue, we adopt two different approaches to reduce the sampling noise in the precision matrix that propagates in the parameter space: on the one hand using an alternative estimator of the covariance matrix based on a non-linear shrinkage, NERCOME; and on the other hand employing a method of fast generation of approximate mock catalogs, COVMOS. We find that NERCOME can significantly reduce the noise induced on the posterior distribution of parameters, but at the cost of a systematic overestimation of the error bars on the cosmological parameters. We show that using a COVMOS covariance matrix estimated from a large number of realisations (10~000) results in unbiased cosmological constraints. Regarding the second issue, we quantify the impact on cosmological constraints of the non-Gaussian part of the power spectrum covariance purely coming from non-linear clustering. We find that when this term is neglected, both the errors and central values of the estimated parameters are affected for a scale cut $\kmax > 0.2\ \invMpc$.

We validate the COVMOS method introduced in Baratta et al. (2019) allowing for the fast simulation of catalogues of different cosmological field tracers (e.g. dark matter particles, halos, galaxies, etc.). The power spectrum and one-point probability distribution function of the underlying tracer density field are set as inputs of the method and are arbitrarily chosen by the user. In order to evaluate the validity domain of COVMOS at the level of the produced two-point statistics covariance matrix, we choose to target these two input statistical quantities from realistic $N$-body simulation outputs. In particular, we perform this cloning procedure in a $Λ$CDM and in a massive neutrino cosmologies, for five redshifts in the range $z\in[0,2]$. First, we validate the output real-space two-point statistics (both in configuration and Fourier space) estimated over $5,000$ COVMOS realisations per redshift and per cosmology, with a volume of $1\ [\mathrm{Gpc}/h]^3$ and $10^8$ particles each. Such a validation is performed against the corresponding $N$-body measurements, estimated from 50 simulations. We find the method to be valid up to $k\sim 0.2h/$Mpc for the power spectrum and down to $r~\sim 20$ Mpc$/h$ for the correlation function. Then, we extend the method by proposing a new modelling of the peculiar velocity distribution, aiming at reproducing the redshift-space distortions both in the linear and mildly non-linear regimes. After validating this prescription, we finally compare and validate the produced redshift-space two-point statistics covariance matrices in the same range of scales. We release on a public repository the Python code associated with this method, allowing the production of tens of thousands of realisations in record time. COVMOS is intended for any user involved in large galaxy-survey science requiring a large number of mock realisations.

We design a new observable, the expansion rate fluctuation $η$, to characterize deviations from the linear relation between redshift and distance in the local universe. We also show how to compress the resulting signal into spherical harmonic coefficients in order to better decipher the structure and symmetries of the anisotropies in the local expansion rate. We apply this analysis scheme to several public catalogs of redshift-independent distances, the Cosmicflows-3 and Pantheon data sets, covering the redshift range $0.01<z<0.05$.
The leading anisotropic signal is stored in the dipole. Within the standard cosmological model, it is interpreted as a bulk motion ($307 \pm 23$ km/s) of the entire local volume in a direction aligned at better than $4$ degrees with the bulk component of the Local Group velocity with respect to the CMB. This term alone, however, provides an overly simplistic and inaccurate description of the angular anisotropies of the expansion rate. We find that the quadrupole contribution is non-negligible ($\sim 50\%$ of the anisotropic signal), in fact, statistically significant, and signaling a substantial shearing of gravity in the volume covered by the data. In addition, the 3D structure of the quadrupole is axisymmetric, with the expansion axis aligned along the axis of the dipole.
Implications for the determination of the $H_0$ parameter are also discussed.

We provide an accurate comparison, against large cosmological $N$-body simulations, of different prescriptions for modelling nonlinear matter power spectra in the presence of massive neutrinos and dynamical dark energy. We test the current most widely used approaches: fitting functions (HALOFIT and HMcode), the halo-model reaction (ReACT) and emulators (baccoemu and EuclidEmulator2). Focussing on redshifts $z\leq2$ and scales $k\lesssim 1 \ h/$Mpc (where the simulation mass resolution provides $\sim 1\%$ accuracy), we find that HMcode and ReACT considerably improve over the HALOFIT prescriptions of Smith and Takahashi (both combined with the Bird correction), with an overall agreement of 2\% for all the cosmological scenarios considered. Concerning emulators, we find that, especially at low redshifts, EuclidEmulator2 remarkably agrees with the simulated spectra at $\lesssim 1\%$ level in scenarios with dynamical dark energy and massless neutrinos, reaching a maximum difference of $\sim 2\%$ at $z=2$. baccoemu has a similar behaviour as EuclidEmulator2, except for a couple of dark energy models. In cosmologies with massive neutrinos, at $z=0$ all the nonlinear prescriptions improve their agreement with respect to the massless neutrino case, except for the Bird and TakaBird models which, however, are not tailored to $w_0$--$w_a$ models. At $z>0$ we do not find a similar improvement when including massive neutrinos, probably due to the lower impact of neutrino free-streaming at higher redshifts; rather at $z=2$ EuclidEmulator2 exceeds $2\%$ agreement for some dark energy equation of state. When considering ratios between the matter power spectrum computed in a given cosmological model and its $Λ$CDM counterpart, all the tested prescriptions agree with simulated data, at sub-percent or percent level, depending on $z$. We analyse the clustering of matter on large scales in an extension of the concordance model that allows for spatial curvature. We develop a consistent approach to curvature and wide-angle effects on the galaxy 2-point correlation function in redshift space. In particular we derive the Alcock-Paczynski distortion of $fσ_{8}$, which differs significantly from empirical models in the literature. A key innovation is the use of the `Clustering Ratio', which probes clustering in a different way to redshift-space distortions, so that their combination delivers more powerful cosmological constraints. We use this combination to constrain cosmological parameters, without CMB information. In a curved Universe, we find that $Ω_{{\rm m}, 0}=0.26\pm 0.04$ (68\% CL). When the clustering probes are combined with low-redshift background probes -- BAO and SNIa -- we obtain a CMB-independent constraint on curvature: $Ω_{K,0} = 0.0041\,_{-0.0504}^{+0.0500}$. We find no Bayesian evidence that the flat concordance model can be rejected. In addition we show that the sound horizon at decoupling is $r_{\rm d} = 144.57 \pm 2.34 \; {\rm Mpc}$, in agreement with its measurement from CMB anisotropies. As a consequence, the late-time Universe is compatible with flat $Λ$CDM and a standard sound horizon, leading to a small value of $H_{0}$, {\em without} assuming any CMB information. Clustering Ratio measurements produce the only low-redshift clustering data set that is not in disagreement with the CMB, and combining the two data sets we obtain $Ω_{K,0}= -0.023 \pm 0.010$.

The branching fraction is determined to be BR($B_s^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0$) = [8.3 $\pm$ 1.6 (stat) $\pm$ 0.9 (syst) $\pm$ 0.8 (norm) $\pm$ 0.3 ($f_s/f_d$)] $\times 10^{-6}$ , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third and fourth are due to uncertainties on the branching fraction of the normalization mode $B^0 \to φK_S^0$ and the ratio of hadronization fractions $f_s/f_d$. This is the most precise measurement of this branching fraction to date.
Furthermore, a measurement of the branching fraction of the decay $B^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0$ is performed relative to that of the $B_s^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0$ channel, and is found to be $\frac{BR(B^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0)}{BR(B_s^0 \to K_S^0 K_S^0)}$ = [7.5 $\pm$ 3.1 (stat) $\pm$ 0.5 (syst) $\pm$ 0.3 ($f_s/f_d$)] $\times 10^{-2}$.

Abstract:
A new baryon state is observed in the $Λ_b^0π^+π^-$ mass spectrum with high significance using a data sample of $pp$ collisions, collected with the LHCb detector at centre-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}=7, 8$ and 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9fb$^{-1}$. The third uncertainty for the mass is due to imprecise knowledge of the $Λ_b^0$ baryon mass. The new state is consistent with the first radial excitation of the $Λ_b^0$ baryon, the $Λ_b(2S)^0$ resonance. Updated measurements of the masses and the upper limits on the natural widths of the previously observed $Λ_b(5912)^0$ and $Λ_b(5920)^0$ states are also reported.

Rates of $B_s^0 \to D_s^{-} μ^+ ν_μ$ and $B_s^0 \to D_s^{*-} μ^+ ν_μ$ decays are analyzed using hadronic form-factor parametrizations derived either by Caprini, Lellouch and Neubert (CLN) or by Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL). The measured values of $|V_{cb}|$ are ${(41.4 \pm 0.6 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.2)\times 10^{-3}}$ and ${(42.3 \pm 0.8 \pm 0.9 \pm 1.2)\times 10^{-3}}$ in the CLN and BGL parametrization, respectively. The first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the external inputs used in the measurement. These results are in agreement with those obtained from decays of $B^+$ and $B^0$ mesons. They are the first determinations of $|V_{cb}|$ at a hadron-collider experiment and the first using $B_s^0$ meson decays.

The natural widths of the three lower mass states are consistent with zero, and the 90% confidence-level upper limits are determined to be ${Γ(Ω_b(6316)^-)<2.8}$ MeV, ${Γ(Ω_b(6330)^-)<3.1}$ MeV and ${Γ(Ω_b(6340)^-)<1.5}$ MeV. The natural width of the $Ω_b(6350)^-$ peak is $1.4^{+1.0}_{-0.8}\pm0.1$ MeV, which is 2.5$σ$ from zero and corresponds to an upper limit of 2.8 MeV. The peaks have local significances ranging from 3.6$σ$ to 7.2$σ$. After accounting for the look-elsewhere effect, the significances of the $Ω_b(6316)^-$ and $Ω_b(6330)^-$ peaks are reduced to 2.1$σ$ and 2.6$σ$ respectively, while the two higher mass peaks exceed 5$σ$. The observed peaks are consistent with expectations for excited $Ω_b^-$ resonances.

The highest significances of $C\!P$ asymmetry are 2.9 standard deviations from triple product asymmetries and 3.0 standard deviations for the energy test method. Once the global $p$-value is considered, all results are consistent with no $C\!P$ violation. Parity violation is observed at a significance of $5.5$ standard deviations for the triple product asymmetry method and $5.3$ standard deviations for the energy test method.

A four-body amplitude analysis of the $B^- \to D^{*+} π^- π^-$ decay is performed, where fractions and relative phases of the various resonances contributing to the decay are measured. Several quasi-model-independent analyses are performed aimed at searching for the presence of new states and establishing the quantum numbers of previously observed charmed meson resonances. In particular the resonance parameters and quantum numbers are determined for the $D_1(2420)$, $D_1(2430)$, $D_0(2550)$, $D^*_1(2600)$, $D_2(2740)$ and $D^*_3(2750)$ states. The mixing between the $D_1(2420)$ and $D_1(2430)$ resonances is studied and the mixing parameters are measured. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 $fb^{-1}$, collected in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV with the LHCb detector.

The cross-section for prompt production of $η_c(1S)$ mesons relative to that of the $J/ψ$ meson is measured using the ${p\bar{p}}$ decay mode and is found to be ${σ_{η_c(1S)}/σ_{J/ψ} = 1.69 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.18}$. The quoted uncertainties are, in order, statistical, systematic and due to uncertainties on the branching fractions of the ${J/ψ\to p \bar{p}}$ and ${η_c\to p \bar{p}}$ decays. The prompt $η_c(1S)$ production cross-section is determined to be ${σ_{η_c(1S)} = 1.26 \pm 0.11\pm 0.08 \pm 0.14 \,μb}$, where the last uncertainty includes that on the ${J/ψ}$ meson cross-section. The ratio of the branching fractions of $b$-hadron decays to the $η_c(1S)$ and ${J/ψ}$ states is measured to be ${\mathcal{B}_{b\toη_c X}/\mathcal{B}_{b\to J/ψX} = 0.48 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.03 \pm 0.05}$, where the last uncertainty is due to those on the branching fractions of the ${J/ψ\to p \bar{p}}$ and ${η_c\to p \bar{p}}$ decays. The difference between the ${J/ψ}$ and $η_c(1S)$ masses is also determined to be ${113.0 \pm 0.7 \pm 0.1\text{ MeV}}$, which is the most precise single measurement of this quantity to date.

The $D^0$ mesons are required to originate from semileptonic decays of $b$ hadrons, such that the charge of the muon identifies the flavor of the neutral $D$ meson at production. The asymmetries in the effective decay widths of $D^0$ and $\overline{D}^0$ mesons are determined to be $A_Γ(K^+K^-) = ( -4.3 \pm 3.6 \pm 0.5 )\times 10^{-4}$ and $A_Γ(π^+π^-) = ( 2.2 \pm 7.0 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The results are consistent with $CP$ symmetry and, when combined with previous LHCb results, yield $A_Γ(K^+K^-) = ( -4.4 \pm 2.3 \pm 0.6 )\times 10^{-4}$ and $A_Γ(π^+π^-) = ( 2.5 \pm 4.3 \pm 0.7)\times 10^{-4}$.

The fragmentation-fraction ratio $f_\mathrm{s} / f_u$ is observed to depend on the $\mathrm{B}$-meson transverse momentum with a significance of $6.0\,σ$. This dependency is driven by the 13$\text{ TeV}$ sample ($8.7\,σ$) while the results for the other collision energies are not significant when considered separately. Furthermore the results show a $4.8\,σ$ evidence for an increase of $f_\mathrm{s} / f_u$ as a function of collision energy.

These searches look for $A'\!\to\!μ^+μ^-$ decays using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.5/fb collected with the LHCb detector. Neither search finds evidence for a signal, and 90% confidence-level exclusion limits are placed on the $γ$-$A'$ kinetic-mixing strength. The prompt-like $A'$ search explores the mass region from near the dimuon threshold up to 70 GeV, and places the most stringent constraints to date on dark photons with $214 < m(A') \lesssim 740$ MeV and $10.6 < m(A') \lesssim 30$ GeV. The search for long-lived $A'\!\to\!μ^+μ^-$ decays places world-leading constraints on low-mass dark photons with lifetimes $\mathcal{O}(1)$ ps.

The results of an amplitude analysis of the charmless three-body decay $B^+ \rightarrow π^+π^+π^-$, in which $C\!P$-violation effects are taken into account, are reported. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3 \text{fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions recorded with the LHCb detector. The most challenging aspect of the analysis is the description of the behaviour of the $π^+ π^-$ S-wave contribution, which is achieved by using three complementary approaches based on the isobar model, the K-matrix formalism, and a quasi-model-independent procedure. Additional resonant contributions for all three methods are described using a common isobar model, and include the $ρ(770)^0$, $ω(782)$ and $ρ(1450)^0$ resonances in the $π^+π^-$ P-wave, the $f_2(1270)$ resonance in the $π^+π^-$ D-wave, and the $ρ_3(1690)^0$ resonance in the $π^+π^-$ F-wave. Significant $C\!P$-violation effects are observed in both S- and D-waves, as well as in the interference between the S- and P-waves. The results from all three approaches agree and provide new insight into the dynamics and the origin of $C\!P$-violation effects in $B^+ \rightarrow π^+π^+π^-$ decays.

Observations are reported of different sources of $CP$ violation from an amplitude analysis of $B^+ \to π^+ π^+ π^-$ decays, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $3 \; {\rm fb}^{-1}$ of $pp$ collisions recorded with the LHCb detector. A large $CP$ asymmetry is observed in the decay amplitude involving the tensor $f_2(1270)$ resonance, and in addition significant $CP$ violation is found in the $π^+ π^-$ S-wave at low invariant mass. The presence of $CP$ violation related to interference between the $π^+ π^-$ S-wave and the P-wave $B^+ \to ρ(770)^0 π^+$ amplitude is also established; this causes large local asymmetries but cancels when integrated over the phase space of the decay. The results provide both qualitative and quantitative new insights into $CP$-violation effects in hadronic $B$ decays.

We use the statistics of the VIPERS survey to investigate the relation between the surface mean stellar mass density Sigma=Mstar/(2*pi*Re^2) of massive passive galaxies (MPGs, Mstar>10^11 Msun) and their environment in the redshift range 0.5<z<0.8. Passive galaxies were selected on the basis of their NUVrK colors (~900 objects), and the environment was defined as the galaxy density contrast, delta, using the fifth nearest-neighbor approach. The analysis of Sigma vs. delta was carried out in two stellar mass bins. In galaxies with Mstar<2*10^11 Msun, no correlation between Sigma and delta is observed. This implies that the accretion of satellite galaxies, which is more frequent in denser environments and efficient in reducing the galaxy Sigma, is not relevant in the formation and evolution of these systems. Conversely, in galaxies with Mstar>2*10^11 Msun, we find an excess of MPGs with low Sigma and a deficit of high-Sigma MPGs in the densest regions wrt other environments. We interpret this result as due to the migration of some high-Sigma MPGs (<1% of the total population of MPGs) into low-Sigma MPGs, probably through mergers or cannibalism of small satellites. In summary, our results imply that the accretion of satellite galaxies has a marginal role in the mass-assembly history of most MPGs.
We have previously found that the number density of VIPERS massive star-forming galaxies (MSFGs) declines rapidily from z=0.8 to z=0.5, which mirrors the rapid increase in the number density of MPGs. This indicates that the MSFGs at z>0.8 migrate to the MPG population. Here, we investigate the Sigma-delta relation of MSFGs at z>0.8 and find that it is consistent within 1 sigma with that of low-Sigma MPGs at z<0.8. Thus, the results of this and our previous paper show that MSFGs at z>0.8 are consistent in terms of number and environment with being the progenitors of low-Sigma MPGs at z<0.8.

The single electron track-reconstruction efficiency is calibrated using a sample corresponding to $1.3~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$of $pp$ collision data recorded with the LHCb detector in 2017. This measurement exploits $B^+\to J/ψ(e^+e^-)K^+$ decays, where one of the electrons is fully reconstructed and paired with the kaon, while the other electron is reconstructed using only the information of the vertex detector. Despite this partial reconstruction, kinematic and geometric constraints allow the $B^+$-meson mass to be reconstructed and the signal to be well separated from backgrounds. This in turn allows the electron reconstruction efficiency to be measured by matching the partial track segment found in the vertex detector to tracks found by LHCb's regular reconstruction algorithms. The agreement between data and simulation is evaluated, and corrections are derived for simulated electrons in bins of kinematics. These correction factors allow LHCb to measure branching fractions involving single electrons with a systematic uncertainty below $1\%$.

The cross-sections of $ψ(2S)$ meson production in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13~\mathrm{TeV}$ are measured with a data sample collected by the LHCb detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $275~p\mathrm{b}^{-1}$. The production cross-sections for prompt $ψ(2S)$ mesons and those for $ψ(2S)$ mesons from $b$-hadron decays ($ψ{(2S)}\mathrm{-from-}b$) are determined as functions of the transverse momentum, $p_{\mathrm{T}}$, and the rapidity, $y$, of the $ψ(2S)$ meson in the kinematic range $2<p_{\mathrm{T}}<20~\mathrm{GeV}/c$ and $2.0<y<4.5$. The production cross-sections integrated over this kinematic region are \begin{equation*} \begin{split} σ(\mbox{prompt }ψ(2S),13~\mathrm{TeV}) &= {1.430 \pm 0.005(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.099 (\mathrm{syst})μ\mathrm{b}},\\ σ(ψ(2S)\mathrm{-from-}b,13~\mathrm{TeV})&={0.426 \pm 0.002(\mathrm{stat}) \pm0.030 (\mathrm{syst})μ\mathrm{b}}. \end{split} \end{equation*} A new measurement of $ψ(2S)$ production cross-sections in $pp$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=7~\mathrm{TeV}$ is also performed using data collected in 2011, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $614~{p\mathrm{b}^{-1}}$.The integrated production cross-sections in the kinematic range $3.5<p_{\mathrm{T}}<14~\mathrm{GeV}/c$ and $2.0<y<4.5$ are \begin{equation*} \begin{split} σ(\mbox{prompt }ψ(2S),7~\mathrm{TeV}) &={0.471 \pm0.001 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.025 (\mathrm{syst})μ\mathrm{b}},\\ σ(ψ(2S)\mathrm{-from-}b,7~\mathrm{TeV}) &={0.126\pm0.001 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm0.008 (\mathrm{syst})μ\mathrm{b}}. \end{split} \end{equation*} All results show reasonable agreement with theoretical calculations.

A study of the structure suggests its interpretation as a superposition of two almost degenerate narrow states. The masses and widths of these states are measured to be
\begin{eqnarray*}
m_{Λ_{b}\mathrm{(6146)}^0} &=&6146.17 \pm 0.33 \pm 0.22 \pm 0.16\,\mathrm{MeV} \,,

Γ_{Λ_{b}\mathrm{(6152)}^0} &=&\phantom{615}2.1\phantom{0}\pm 0.8\phantom{0} \pm 0.3\phantom{0}\,\mathrm{MeV}\,,
\end{eqnarray*} with a mass splitting of $Δm = 6.34 \pm 0.32 \pm 0.02\,\mathrm{MeV}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third derives from the knowledge of the mass of the $Λ_b^0$ baryon. The measured masses and widths of these new excited states suggest their possible interpretation as a doublet of $Λ_{b}\mathrm{(1D)}^0$ states.

A measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating asymmetry in $B_s^0\rightarrowφφ$ decays is presented. Using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $5.0$fb$^{-1}$ collected by the $\mbox{LHCb}$ experiment at centre-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV in 2011, 8 TeV in 2012 and 13 TeV in 2015 and 2016, a signal yield of around 9000 $B_s^0\rightarrowφφ$ decays is obtained. The CP-violating phase $φ_s^{s\bar{s}s}$ is measured to be $-0.073 \pm 0.115$(stat)$\pm 0.027$(syst) rad, under the assumption it is independent on the helicity of the $φφ$ decay. In addition, the CP-violating phases of the transverse polarisations under the assumption of CP conservation of the longitudinal phase are measured. The helicity-independent direct CP-violation parameter is also measured, and is found to be $|λ|=0.99 \pm 0.05 $(stat)$ \pm 0.01 $(syst). In addition, $T$-odd triple-product asymmetries are measured. The results obtained are consistent with the hypothesis of CP conservation in $b\rightarrow\bar{s}s\bar{s}$ transitions. Finally, a limit on the branching fraction of the $B^0\rightarrow φφ$ decay is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(B^0\rightarrow φφ)<2.7\times 10^{-8}$ at 90% confidence level.

The significance of the observed signal is in excess of seven standard deviations. It is found that $(58\pm15)\%$ of the decays proceed via the two-body intermediate state $χ_{c1}(3872)Λ(1520)$. The~branching fraction with respect to that of the $Λ_b\rightarrowψ(2S)p K^{-}$ decay mode, where the $ψ(2S)$~meson is reconstructed in the $J/ψπ^+π^-$ final state, is measured to be: \begin{equation*} \frac{Λ_b^0\toχ_{c1}(3872)pK^-}{Λ_b\toψ(2S)p K^-} \times \frac{\mathcal{B}(χ_{c1} \to J/ψπ^+π^-)}{\mathcal{B}(ψ(2S)\to J/ψπ^+π^-)} = \left(5.4 \pm 1.1 \pm 0.2\right)\times 10^{-2}\,, \end{equation*} where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

We revisit the case of fast Monte-Carlo simulations of galaxy positions for a non-gaussian field. More precisely we address the question of generating a 3D field with a given one-point function (as a log-normal one, but not only) and some power-spectrum fixed by cosmology. We highlight and investigate a problem that occurs when the field is filtered and identify, for the log-normal case, a regime where it can still be used. However we show that the filtering is unnecessary if one takes into account aliasing effects and finely controls the discrete sampling step. In this way we demonstrate a sub-percent precision of all our spectra up to the Nyquist frequency. We extend the method to generate a full light cone evolution comparing two methods for doing it and validate our method with a tomographic analysis. We investigate analytically and numerically the structure of the covariance matrices obtained with such simulations which may be useful for future large and deep surveys.

The decay-time-dependent $CP$ asymmetry in $B^{0}_{s}\to J/ψK^{+} K^{-}$ decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $1.9\,\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$, collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of $13\,\mathrm{TeV}$ in 2015 and 2016. Using a sample of approximately 117\,000 signal decays with an invariant $K^{+} K^{-}$ mass in the vicinity of the $φ(1020)$ resonance, the $CP$-violating phase $φ_s$ is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the $B^{0}_{s}$-$\bar{B}^{0}_{s}$ system, $ΔΓ_s$. The difference of the average $B^{0}_{s}$ and $B^{0}$ meson decay widths, $Γ_s-Γ_d$, is determined using in addition a sample of $B^{0} \to J/ψK^{+} π^{-}$ decays. The values obtained are $φ_s = -0.083\pm0.041\pm0.006\,\mathrm{rad}$, $ΔΓ_s = 0.077 \pm 0.008 \pm 0.003\, \mathrm{ps^{-1}}$ and $Γ_s-Γ_d = -0.0041 \pm 0.0024 \pm 0.0015\,\mathrm{ps^{-1}}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements of these quantities to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with a previous LHCb analysis of this decay using data recorded at centre-of-mass energies 7 and 8 TeV. Finally, the results are combined with recent results from $B^{0}_{s}\to J/ψπ^{+} π^{-}$ decays obtained using the same dataset as this analysis, and with previous independent LHCb results.

The charm baryons are reconstructed through the decays $Λ_c^+\to pK^-π^+$, $Ξ_c^+\to pK^-π^+$ and $Ξ_c^0\to pK^-K^-π^+$, and originate from semimuonic decays of beauty baryons. The lifetimes are measured relative to that of the $D^+$ meson, and are determined to be \begin{align*}
τ_{Λ_c^+} &= 203.5\pm1.0\pm1.3\pm1.4~{\rm fs}, \newline
τ_{Ξ_c^+} &= 456.8\pm3.5\pm2.9\pm3.1~{\rm fs}, \newline
τ_{Ξ_c^0} &= 154.5\pm1.7\pm1.6\pm1.0~{\rm fs}, \end{align*} where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the uncertainty in the $D^+$ lifetime. The measurements are approximately 3--4 times more precise than the current world average values. The $Λ_c^+$ and $Ξ_c^+$ lifetimes are in agreement with previous measurements; however, the $Ξ_c^0$ baryon lifetime is approximately 3.3 standard deviations larger than the world average value.

The dominant contributions in the $π^\pm K^\mp$ and $K^{+}K^{-}$ systems are the nonresonant and the $B^\pm \to ρ(1450)^{0}π^{\pm}$ amplitudes, respectively, with fit fractions around $30\%$. For the rescattering contribution, a sizeable fit fraction is observed. This component has the largest $CP$ asymmetry reported to date for a single amplitude of $(-66 \pm 4 \pm 2)\%$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. No significant $CP$ violation is observed in the other contributions.

A search for $B^{0}_{s}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}$ and $B^{0}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}$ decays is performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$ of proton-proton collisions, recorded with the LHCb detector in 2011 and 2012. For this search, the $τ$ lepton is reconstructed in the $τ^{-}\toπ^{-}π^{+}π^{-}ν_τ$ channel. No significant signal is observed. Assuming no contribution from $B^{0}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}$ decays, an upper limit is set on the $B^{0}_{s}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}$ branching fraction of $\mathcal{B}\left( B^{0}_{s}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}\right) < 4.2\times 10^{-5}$ at $95\%$ confidence level. If instead no contribution from $B^{0}_{s}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}$ decays is assumed, a limit of $\mathcal{B}\left( B^{0}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}\right) < 1.4\times 10^{-5}$ is obtained at $95\%$ confidence level. These are the first limit on $\mathcal{B}\left( B^{0}_{s}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}\right)$ and the world's best limit on $\mathcal{B}\left( B^{0}\toτ^{\pm}μ^{\mp}\right)$.

Abstract:
A time-dependent analysis of the $B_s^0 \to φγ$ decay rate is performed to determine the $CP$-violating observables $S_{φγ}$ and $C_{φγ}$, and the mixing-induced observable $\mathcal{A}^Δ_{φγ}$. The measurement is based on a sample of $pp$ collision data recorded with the LHCb detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb$^{-1}$ at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV. The measured values are \begin{align*} S_{φγ} &= 0.43 \pm 0.30 \pm 0.11, \\ C_{φγ} &= 0.11 \pm 0.29 \pm 0.11, \\ \mathcal{A}^Δ_{φγ} &= -0.67 \, ^{+0.37}_{-0.41} \pm 0.17, \end{align*} where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This is the first measurement of the observables $S$ and $C$ in radiative $B_s^0$ decays. The results are consistent with the Standard Model predictions.

No significant signal is observed in the mass range from the kinematic threshold of the decay to 3800 $\mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$. An upper limit is set on the ratio of branching fractions $\mathcal{R} = \frac{\mathcal{B}(\itΞ^{++}_{cc} \rightarrow D^{+} p K^{-} π^{+})}{\mathcal{B}(\itΞ^{++}_{cc} \rightarrow Λ^{+}_{c} K^{-} π^{+}π^{+})}$ with $\mathcal{R} < 1.7 \hspace{2pt} (2.1) \times 10^{-2}$ at the 90% (95%) confidence level at the known mass of the $\itΞ^{++}_{cc}$ state.
