App has really improved.

It must be close to a year since I last reviewed this app, and I couldn’t bare to use it again because at the time it was just the worst thing I’ve ever used. However, this app has significanly improved and I can’t quite believe it! I only use it for the Washing Machine, and it works so well. As a young person I’m always worried I’m going to mess up the washing some way or other, but the app offers a “Recipe” feature which lets you tell it what clothes are in the machine and it then suggests a cycle to put it on. After a bit of hassle setting up (~15 mins), within a few minutes you can control the washing machine at the touch of a button from your phone and it’s fantastic. The app is easy to use, well-laid out and overall fantastic. It’s clear that a lot of effort has gone into improving this app, because it was originally very, very poor.

Still a pain to add photos to a Samsung The Frame TV

We have a The Frame TV and the one thing I have to use this app for is to add photos to show on it. You’d think it would be straightforward. Every time I want to add photos, after a holiday say, I end up removing the device and re-adding it, then restarting the app until I can see the art mode option, then it doesn’t always show me the option to add photos. I usually get it to work but it always takes 15 min faff on my phone so we use it much less than we would. Also, to get photos without a border you have to upload them at the exact aspect ratio for the screen. So I have to size the photos first in a second app (I use Image Size) and then choose the right images to upload. You should be able to crop and fit on the app as you can in so many others.

It should be so much easier to get your own photos on to the Frame as that was it’s selling point to me. We’ve had it for years-and I love The Frame as a TV-but this experience has not improved.

Constantly fails to connect to Frame TV

I really want to like this app. It has huge potential and IMO is more sophisticated than HomeKit, Google Home, etc. Now that Matter is a reality, I want this to be my go-to app for smart home control. The energy saving section is well thought out, with huge potential… However, it is very disappointing that this Samsung app doesn’t work with the flagship Samsung Frame TV - especially when trying to control the subscription art. Constant errors, disconnections and freezing result in anger and frustration. I really hope they find a way to make their own products compatible… at the moment, it just doesn’t work well enough, online forums are full of complaints, and Samsung should be embarrassed!

…6 months later, it is still completely unreliable. The Samsung Frame TV that acts as a Samsung hub does not have an Ethernet port and has a network connection failure every few days. I don’t understand how Samsung can promise so much but deliver so little!
